“SUMMER SHOWDOWN” NOW CO-SANCTIONED - $5,000 TO WIN!

Haubstadt, IN - June 3, 2018 -  Every season or two a different idea
for a race promotion forms and with effort evolves as a new
opportunity for fans and competitors.  The June 9th event at
Tri-State Speedway is just such an event.

The “Summer Showdown” has been on the schedule as one of the sprint
car specials at the track since 2015 and the Hoosier Tire Midwest
Sprint Car Series has been featured in the show.  The race this year
will still include the MSCS non wing sprints as participants.
However, joining the action will be the POWRi WAR sprints.  The event
will now be co-sanctioned with drivers from the two organizations
racing wheel to wheel.   .

The Midwest Sprint Car Series will be racing four times in the month
of June.  The “Summer Showdown” scheduled for Saturday night June 9th
will offer the biggest purse.  The feature winner will pick up a
check for $5,000!  That is an increase from past purses for this
event that offered $2,000 and then $2,500 to win.  The increase
changes the dimension of the promotion.  It will have even greater
drawing power.  The two sanctioning bodies will attract the drivers
following those series plus drivers who concentrate on traveling to
shows with these bigger purses.

The POWRi WAR Sprints is a non-wing series based in Missouri.  This
group competes in special marquee venues like the Tri-State “Summer
Showdown.” The series will be competing in races in Illinois prior to
racing Saturday at Haubstadt.  Their events this season have
attracted drivers from six states.  The defending series champion is
Korey Weyant.

Past “Summer Showdown” winners from the MSCS ranks include Chase
Stockon (2017), Kyle Cummins (2016), and Brady Short (2015).  These
races were very competitive.  Ten different drivers have finished in
the top five spots during those opportunities.  Two of those drivers,
Brady Short and Donny Brackett, finished in the top five each year.

Carson Short currently leads the MSCS Points Standings.  He has a 55
points edge over Brandon Mattox.  Robert Ballou and Donny Brackett
rank third and fourth.  The standings for all 36 active drivers can
be found on line at mscssprints.com.

The racing will not be over June 9th until the UMP Open Wheel
Modifieds compete in their 25 lap feature.  So far three modified
features held at Haubstadt this season have produced 3 different
winners.  Each of those drivers will be looking for win number two.
Another two dozen are eyeing that first and perhaps elusive victory.
All this action gets underway with warm-ups beginning at 6 o’clock
C.D.T.  Racing begins at 7:30 as usual.

In addition the Vintage Car Club will be present to add to the
overall enjoyment of this special event!
