SEXTON SIBLINGS LEAD CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINT CAR ROOKIE OF THE YEAR RACE!

(Lakeside, CA, May 3, 2018) Heading into this weekend, brothers Grant and Dalton Sexton are ranked first and second in the “Rookie of the Year” chase in the California Lightning Sprint Car Series.  The brothers will square off Saturday night when the series visits the Ventura Raceway for the second time in less than a month.

Heading into Saturday’s event on the gorgeous track which is adjacent to the beach, younger brother Grant has 157 points and is ranked ninth overall in the championship standings.  He is a mere six points out of eighth.  Older brother Dalton has 110 points.  That is good for 14th overall and leaves him just six-markers shy of the 13th spot.

When the series last visited Ventura on April 14th, Grant placed seventh in the main and was the race “Hard Charger.”  Electrical problems forced Dalton to scratch from that main event.  One week later at the Bakersfield Speedway, the brothers reversed their fortunes.  Dalton placed ninth in the main event and was the race “Hard Charger.”  Grant had mechanical ills and placed 18th.

The Lakeside, California family team is rounded out by their father, Brent.  The two-time series champion was fifth at the season opener at Ventura and seventh the following week at Bakersfield where he was the fast qualifier on the night.  Going into Saturday’s race, Brent is fifth in points.

Fans who come to see the Sexton/Gatlin team race on Saturday will also get to see the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars and the VRA Dwarf Cars.  Spectator gates will swing open at 3:00 P.M. and the first race will be at 5:30. The Ventura Raceway is conveniently located just off the 101 on the Ventura County Fairgrounds.  The track address is 10 West Harbor Boulevard (93001).  The track’s website is at the following link http://venturaraceway.com/.  The office phone number is (805) 648- RACE.
