I trust plenty of Port Royal sprint car fans went to the Speed Palace last night to see the other engine style run and win 10000 dollars...... the brand deemed too good for a sprint car l suppose. Thanks

I say we jump way past the morphed Nascar and late model wide bore spacing engines and start working the next generation of Sprint Car engines around Shaver's LS Next program goals.

I have a Ford C3 we ran in the 90's under the bench.  That's a Ford design.  Right off the late 60's 351C 4V heads.  I wouldn't be as proud winnng with one of the new wide bore morphed Ford engines today as i was with that C3 engine 20 years ago.

Using the LS Next idea, let's run current Ford SOHC, DOHC, Chrysler Hemi, Chevy LS designed engines. Engines in our cars TODAY, not decades ago, or Nascar designed.  Aftermarket parts most likely as we do today with all our parts, but block and heads must interchange with stock, an ASCS engine prety much does that.  Toyota guys would have to run the V8 Tundra engine, not the TRD based engine.  I would think fans would love seeing the same valve cover design under the hood of their Mustang, Camaro, Challenger, sticking out the side of a Sprint Car. The drag racers have been doing this for years.   Constant flow or electronic fuel injection, Magneto or coil on plug, either way, it will not be any more expensive than now.

Im as old school as anyone but when bone stock street cars with warranties are making 7 and 8 horsepower that anyone with a job can make the payment on, its time for a change. Our many rules meant to "save money" are costing us a fortune as well as tons of fun.  It looks like even Ford Motor Company is unable to work around our blinded sprint car racing bosses.

If anyone was there, can you tell me why 4 410 teams packed up and left before feature?  Track conditions?

Maybe they were just sad that they didn't have Ford engines?

It was "stated" at the track that they left because the WoO late model feature was being run first and that they said they would not be able to pass on the track with it being so fast.

Well it was a race featuring the WoO late models so rightfully so they ran first. Brock Zearfoss proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that passing could be made top, middle, and bottom as he put on a high speed clinic. If anything the late models widened the track with multiple grooves to make it better for the sprint feature.

Thing is after seeing all the whining from some on here about Port Royal and their track the ones whining need to take up a new hobby. After seeing the promoter and all his employees bust their butts after that monsoon to get the surface back was impressive!! They could have easily said the heck with it and cancelled but they made a lot of new Port Royal Speedway fans last night!!

Going home because the track is too fast?!  No wonder everyone is so satisfied with the current specs. No surprise the blue oval was way out front all evening since it rained:). Some things never change. Justin Grant won the dirt champ car race as well with the unfair expensive complicated heavy fancy questionable canted valve Ol Ford earlier in the same night.

I hope that's not true. That's pretty arrogant considering you are the support class in this situation. Again, I hope its not the case.

Zearfoss was passing cars, but damn, Cisney was making some bold-ass moves above the cushion. 16th to 5th and finished with a flat RR.

Yes, the track crew definitely busted their asses last night. The stands were still mostly full by the time the 410 A pushed off at about 1:10 am. I definitely went through more beers than I thought I would last night. A long rain delay will do that to you though... haha.

There were four of us that made the trip there last night for our first visit to Port Royal. Needless to say they got four new fans that will be back.

Was funny we were sitting in the pit parking lot waiting for the rain to stop listening to the NASCAR race when I seen a guy walk by my truck and I told my buddies man that looked like Sammy Swindell and they said I was nuts why would he be here tonight. So I jumped out of the truck and said hello Mr. Swindell and he turned around and it was him. We shook his hand and made a little small talk and he was on his way back to the pits.

Ha! Cool. Glad you had fun last night. It was an interesting night for your first time, that's for sure. Heavy rains, delays, high speeds, fog, 1:25 ending time, etc.

In all seriousness saw this browsing through my YouTube recommended videos.

https://youtu.be/5GCDsZjIj9o

FYI that isn't a A4MP motor. That's a full fledged sprint motor with down nozzles in the heads and all. That motor can make 900 HP for less than $40,000 pretty easy.

Many thanks.  Very nice.  That thing is as Ford as a Lincoln.  Probably too Fordish to keep everyone comfy.  Thanks again in all seriousness:)

Our current sprint car officials will actually probably hate it.  Its even early Casey Luna colors.  Any video of the car at speed?  Who drives it?

I believe that's the shop/engine maker who is making the LS engine from what I could find...

Let's make sure we are clear here. There isn't anything Ford about that motor. That's a LS motor. While it has an exhaust port spacing similar to a 5.0 Ford that's where the similarity completely ends.  Nothing is like a SBC about that motor either than the lifter bore size and the cylinder bore spacings.  LS motors were a completely new animal when they came out in 1997.

Yep, agreed.  That's why above I posted the Facebook page of the engine builder and noted it's an LS engine.
