Great to see Sammy running up front the last two nights would love to see him get a win for Mark and the team.I was afraid the hard crash at Knoxville might be the end for him like the hard crash and AT Eldora and another in Florida was the end for Steve.

I wish he would retire!  Worst attitude of any driver ever!  I am going to Lincoln tonight and I hope he is lapped traffic!

Glad to hear that!  He needs to go where he can win......him and Hodnett running away from the competition!  Sammy and Hodnett knew they wouldn't have a chance at Lincoln!

Positivity!! This is such a refreshing thing to see on a board that's as negative as Hosehead's.

Enjoy a Sensenig's sammich for me, will ya? Actually, you'll probably complain about that too.

The Slammer didn't get his nick name for nothing other than hitting other cars throughout his career.  I saw it many of times in person.  I never forget the time he hit one car multiple times in one heat race back in the 80's.  I was in the pits that night at Williamsgrove and that driver told the offical if he hits me once more in the feature I will be pounding that little sucker into the mud! end quote.  This driver was a very big man too!...kind of looked like Grisly Adams.

Not complaining only telling it like it is.  After seeing him race many times and hitting other cars many times, I could never cheer for a driver like that!

You don't have a clue how he got the nickname.....and I think you exaggerate more than a wee bit, like most Sammy haters!

Yea, Sammy likes to dish it out, but he can take it too. I'll never forget a few years ago at Nationals prelim nite, Wayne Johnson squeezed him into the wall on Turn 3, Sammy was going any which way but loose over the cushion, 3 or 4 corrections in a second or so, & he eventually passed Wayne... impressive

I don't need to root for "good guys in white hats"....

Recently saw him win at Orange County Fairgrounds Speedway against Allstars in Middletown, NY

Fast time, outclassed everyone, ran away & hid. Glad to see the ole bastidge win, but boring race....

I've always liked watching Sammy run because he is always exciting.  That said, I have to disagree that "he can take it too".  As much as I like to watch him run he doesn't deal well with someone else dishing out to him what he dishes out to them.  Chili Bowl a couple years ago with Kyle is a good example.  You could play that race back 100 times and not find what Kyle did wrong.

Still cool to see an old guy kick everyone's ass every once in a while though!

I walked through the pits every night in Knoxville for the Nationals and a lot of drivers/teams are in a hurry to get out of there and wouldn't you know it , Sammy, the guy with the "worst attitude of any driver ever!" is one of the last drivers to leave every night and is signing autographs , talking with fans and taking pictures. He was even smiling. But man the way some of you guys make him out to be on here is unreal. I'd like to buy a ticket to watch you work for a week or 2, mind you Sammy is closing in on 50 years in the business, and see how hardworking, maticulus, innovative and passionate you are about your craft.

Running away?  If Lincoln regulars are so good, why doesn't the 21 travel?.............

Actualy, he got the nickname because of the way he slammed the corners at Eldora years ago. It's hard to take a guy seriously that doesn't seem to know anything about the history of sprint car racing. Are you new to the sport? After you've followed the sport for a couple of years, you might have a different perspective.

BStrawser 26 as soon as you move out of mommas basement why don't you approach Sammy sometime and register your complaints.

I have been going to the races since the early 80's and own my home.   I have seen Slammer hit many of cars on the track over the years.  And then act like nothing ever happened.  Until something like this happened to him, then he throws a hissy fit.....see Knoxville 2017 - 360 racing both him and Kevin threw a fit.    I have seen it way too many times from the Slammer to be buffaloed by the likes of any of you on this board.   I only wish Steve Kinser would have put Sammy in his place more often cause he needed it!

Slammer always has someone to blame.....except himself and he is the one usually to blame!  I have walked by the Slammer at Knoxville 12 out of the last 17 years and he still has a sour expression on his face.  He looks like he is having so much fun signing those autographs.....Mr personality!

How did Sammy and Hodnett do at the Port tonight?  I am telling it like it is!  When I was a Lincoln, I heard Hodnett loaded up and left early!   Need I say more..........

Sammy brought out the caution and dropped out halfway through.

I know a guy who relishes saying, "I tell it like it is" (emphasis on the macho tone). As I told the guy, "Just because you 'tell it like it is' doesn't mean you don't sound like goddamn prick pretty much every time you speak." I feel that's relevant here.

Lighten up, Francis.
