With three races under its belt, SCCT has had an ave. of 57 cars per race. 58@Antioch, 63@Placerville and 50@Tulare, just how many do you think will be at Petaluma? I guess 56 cars(my wife picks 64) for this Saturday nights race, its been great so far to see all the good drivers racing just to make it to the A main. With that many cars on hand even the B main could be a A main on any other night.

10 or more cars per heat with five heats and only the top three going to the A main per heat makes for some very good racing in the HEATS. Some of the best racing in the heat races I've seen in the last 10 to 15 years. YES years. My wife and I try go to 45 to 55 races a year and the racing we've seen in the new SCCT has been very good and I hope it stays that way.

Its awesome to see the car counts!  There were cars at P-Ville that I had never seen before!  I wish we could make more of the shows this year.  I really like the qualifying format.  Its the most fair system I think you can have with that many cars.  I would like to see your heat finishes dictate where your placed in your semi.  Top 3 go to main, next 3 go to the B main, etc.

Great job to all of those involved in organizing the new series!

Great car counts! I've made it to each SCCT race so far and with the exception of Antioch, they've all been good races. Antioch would've been great too if the track held up.

I'll guess 63 cars at Petaluma. My question is how about Memorial weekend? Who will go to SCCT at Stockton and who goes to Civil War at Marysville on Saturday March 27th? And will they all be back together for the Fair Race in Chico the following night?

I'll be interested to see how that plays out.

Somebody like Andy Forsberg who is 25th in points in the SCCT will most likely go where he thinks he can win the most money each night. So my bet is on Andy will go to Marysville because I don't think the CW will field as tough a field of cars giving him a better chance of winning more money.

The CW has had only two races so far and the car count has avg. 28 cars. It will be interesting to see how it plays out on the 27th.

Are you getting any Pennsylvania cars, or are they just afraid to travel?

What is SCCT?

SCCT is the Sprint Car Challenge  Tour and is a winged 360 series formed to provide an alternative to the Civil War, another winged 360 series.  May 27 is the only time this year both are in action on the same night.

SCCT has had such a large car count that the average finishing time is 40 minutes past California fairgrounds race track curfew.

Petaluma has a 10 pm curfew and wisely moved the two support divisions to other dates and for this coming Saturday is putting cars on the track at 4 pm.

Hopefully next year all shows have no support division and will not race SCCT and the Hunt nonwing spec sprint series together.  That created a 94 car field at Placerville on the 15th.

I will agree with everything said in the above posts.  Placerville was a total sell out, Tulare always has loads of legroom, (great sound system also) and the racing was kick ass! Looking forward to Petaluma this Saturday night as it's been on my bucket list for some time.    3/8 mile and tacky.  The young guns are on a roll...

Ascot was the greatest of all time..

West Capital wasn't half bad either..

Life is good...

Honest question- How do they get that many cars to show up for a 360 show?

It pays more(all the way down) and they pay you when you leave. Plus they have contingency prizes each night and money at the end of the year for 1st through 15th in points. Here is the contingency program

I'm a race fan I hate it when one team gets preferential treatment, like extra time to get their car fixed while the next guy doesn't even have time to change a tire. As a fan we see this(and have for years) and this takes away from the race itself. This new group is ran by people in the business that have been hurt/helped by favoritism, so far in the three races I've not seen any blatant disregard for the rules by officials. And I hope thats the way it will stay, but time will tell.

Murphy, I don't know where you live but if you live out of CA then I can tell you we have some of the best drivers out here and if you haven't been to the Trophy Cup please come out and see this 360 race. Its one of the best races in the country.

From afar it looks like the SCCT is doing a bang up job and as Rod indicates it's multifaceted as to their success.  It also helps to have influential people and companies/sponsors involved.  MURPHY, there's a TON of talent in CA, both really young and some that have been around.  Great times in CA right now for 360 (and 410 KWS) sprints.  Thanks Rod, good stuff.

It's great to see all of the positive energy surrounding this Series.  I am in the Midwest, so it doesn't directly effect me, but it is so refreshing to see something that's new and exciting in sprint car racing.  I hope everyone keeps up the good work and stays postiive, it will help the sport that we all love, no matter what part of the country we live in!

Favoritism in spring car racing in California? Never heard of such a thing....... (sarcasm) I knew this would be the real deal when I saw two things: Abreu Vinyards and somebody BESIDES Mike "the Rat" Andretta being head official. Not having arrogant prick John Prentice involved was just icing on the cake. This thing looks to be such a good deal that I actually wish I could muster the desire to go to a race this year but so far it hasn't happened. It is nice to see something positive happen for the guys who have the desire to keep doing this and have been doing this for so long.

Sure- you guys are just trying to make me cry. Our local venue is the track formerly known as Husets Speedway in South Dakota.

I find it interesting that in the racing community, when someone does it up right like these folks, why don't others just palin copy the formula?

Because it cost more, so that takes some of the profit out of the promoters pockets. Now who wants to do that.

Sounds like these SCCT guys are hard core racers, not focused on Big $$$ like "you know who"....

Lets hope so and I want them to make money, we need the promoters to make money. That way they can give more back to the racers that entertain us, the fans. The stands have been full at two of the three races and I'm sure that the stands at Petaluma will be booked solid.

Right. If you concentrate on delivering a good product, you should bring in the $$. Concentrate on $$, let the product suffer, you end up gone....
