MESERAULL PUTS THE 17GP IN VICTORY LANE AT THE RACIN’ FEST

Putnamville, IN - April 8, 2017 -  The lid lifted on the 2017 Midwest
Sprint Car Series season with the running of the “Bill Gardner
Indiana Open Wheel Racin’ Fest” at the Lincoln Park Speedway Saturday
evening.  The special event was complete with a huge turnout, an
ultra explosive fire works display, and another unrelenting LPS
driving performance by Thomas Meseraull.  The California speedster,
who now races out of Indianapolis, IN, was unstoppable in the Michael
Dutcher Motorsports sprinter which is sponsored by Griffin’s Propane,
Indiana Underground, and Tri-Star Motorsports.  Thomas Meseraull’s
race defining effort was rewarded with a check for $4,000!
Meseraull took the lead on lap number five of the 30 lap feature.  He
had started seventh in the 21 car field.  By the 30th and final lap
he held a 5 second lead over his closest pursuer Brent Beauchamp.
Beauchamp, a Lincoln Park regular from Indianapolis, IN, would finish
second.  He would be joined on the podium by Jarett Andretti who
moved up from ninth to finish third.  Defending MSCS Champion Brady
Short and two time MSCS Champion Jon Stanbrough completed the top
five in dashing under the checkers just before the red flag was
displayed for an accident further back in the field.
The second five finishers in the Racin’ Fest included A.J. Hopkins,
Shane Cottle, Chad Boespflug, Carson Short, and Dakota Jackson in
that order.  Jackson was the Keizer Aluminum Wheels Hard Charger of
the Race improving upon a 19th starting spot.  Ethan Barrow picked up
the Wilwood Tuff Brakes Award with an eleventh place finish.

The heat races held for the forty car field produced wins by Chad
Boespflug, Kody Swanson, Carson Short, and Shane Cockrum.  Swanson
led the first four laps of the feature after starting from the
outside pole.  Carson Short had lead all drivers during the group
qualifying runs with a 12.932 lap around the 5/16 mile oval.
Meseraull was second fastest overall and they ran one-two again in
heat three.
All four heat races were green to checkers uninterrupted runs!  The
first yellow flag and a chance for fans to observe a double file
restart in MSCS competition came during the C Main.  However the B
Main drivers saw five yellow flags and a red flag.  There were only
two cautions in the A Main plus that final red.  Drivers involved in
these various incidents included Shelby Van Gilder, Ben Knight, Tony
Lawrence, Dickie Gaines, Brandon Mattox, Brady Ottinger, Ryan
Freeland, Colten Cottle, Carson Short, and Hunter Schuerenberg.
Rookie driver Tyler Rust picked up his first win in MSCS competition
by taking the C Main.  Jeff Bland Jr. won the B Main which
transferred the top four drivers to the back of the starting field
for the main event.  Hunter O’Neal took the final transfer spot.

The Midwest Sprint Car Series will be in action again next weekend
with an appearance at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, IN.  The 2017
season opener there will be a co-sanctioned event with MSCS combining
efforts with the United States Auto Club.  The “Spring Showdown” on
April 15 will pay $5,000 to win.  It will be 410 non-wing sprint car
racing in one of it’s very best manifestations.
