Big dogs,? Id say Sathers equipment ,wrech,hauler, ect, dosent get much better,I believe the high level of equipment can only do one thing when in your earlie years of driving, if your serious about winning (the pressure is on) poor finishes, crashing out ,and silly mistakes can make it pretty hard, mentally on a person , when all the resouces are there, it is up to your tallent or wisdom to perform , blocking out the Drama, Ideas, and plain "stupid comments" of competitors and spectators becomes unbareable , when the helmet is on, nothing else matters, actions speek louder than words , most importantly personal goals are met,if your goals are set high enuff , bashing will fizzle out and new fans will poor in . JMO

but being a cubs fan is even harder than a red sox fan.........eternal pessimism. they will probably blow it. but I hope not. I hope they make the playoffs and then beat the crap iut of their old arch-rivals the Padres.
as far as Natalie Sather. She still ain't that good. But in the midwest tegion she just grinded it out and finished features. she was consistent. much more consistent than Chapman (I apologize I'm not at all tryin to knock against chapman). I think that shows maturity to not take a chance tearin people up for 1 more spot.........let the other guys do that. she may never finish higher than 10th, but if guys who win some races crash out a lot as well and average 11th place finish.......maturity. And it helps she's hot as hell too. But anyway anytime I've seen her at the track she does look a hell of a lot more focused and seems to be trying everything in her power to improve. I don't think she has the natural talent and is still in the middle of a learning curve so she has to work harder for top 10 finished than probably anyone else.

hell yeah they are...that late season surge of going 5-10 so far in the month of august really gave them a boost to soar into the NL central lead...i have a feeling it wont last long, the cardinals are getting hot. i would like to see the cubs beat the padres 3-2 in a post season series just the opposite of 84.
your right on for natalie..especially the good looking part. she is getting alot better and driving alot smoother.

If you remember, Chapman had a rotten month of June. At Butler County, he started 15th and was charging to the front when he got caught up in Chuch Swensons crash. At Dennison Ia the front end broke ending his night. And at Lakeside, he got caught in Stu Snyders big wreck, and tore off a brake line. 3 DNF`s, there goes the title. 2006 Champion, and 2 runner up finishes, all with badly under funded teams. Toby runs on a budget that is less than a tenth of what Natalie has.

Nice photo of Natalie and Shane Stan, I will agree she has been coming around in her young career. Not sure why people get down on her maybe they are jealous? If you look at the history of sprint car racing there is not a lot of women drivers and there success has been minimal in the upper ranks of the traveling series of which Natalie has had some success.

ASCoT @ State Fair Speedway 3/23/07 It appeared that 22-year-old Natalie Sather would become the first female "A" Feature winner in American Sprint Car Series history. But three-time and reigning O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National champion Gary Wright of Hooks, TX, had other ideas, sweeping past the spunky North Dakota lass on the 24th round of the 25-lap main event to capture his 109th career series victory and third of the year. Gary Wright said "I kinda hated to take that away from her, she drove a really good race, probably the best race that she's ever driven, at least feature-wise." Pole Dash, Sather got the jump on Swenson at the start and held off both Swenson and Danny Jennings to earn the pole position for the feature event. <end of quotes> Natalie has finished 2nd in another A main, too. Now when you couch racers can almost beat Gary Wright - who I consider a pretty damned good racer, no matter what series he is competing in - then you can criticize that very young gal from N. Dak. IMHO

Gary Wright? Is he any good? Just kidding.
If you've ever been around racing awhile you've heard of Bishop Racing components. Bill Bishop(RIP) said that if Wright had the backing, he would show the Outlaws, Posse and whomever else a thing or two.
So a girl finished second to Gary Wright, better keep an eye on that girl. Actually, racing needs her more than you know.

I'd bet Gary Wright makes more money runnin ascs right now than he would if he was runnin WoO right now. Winnin these 10k races along with tow money and the point fund would make a lot more than runnin against the 20 or so guys right now on the WoO trail. Top ten finished would be a lot harder to come by against those guys and it cost wayyyyy more to run WoO. all in all I'd say for Wright there is more to be made runnin ascs right now. but thats jmo.
I think people dislike Sather because of the amount of $$$ she has backing her. Takes a lot of it to have Woodruff turnin wrenches on it year round. To an extent I can understand some of those feelings. But no more against her than other guys like Tony Bruce or anyone else who has parents with loads of money. We all wish everything could be based more on talent and less on money, but it is what it is. Someone on another forum made a great point that these days its easier to have parents with tons of $$ than it is to have sponsors. You have to give sponsors good results consistently or you'll lose it. But if your old man is somthin of a millionaire than you could never win a race and still follow the trail for years. Just one more reason I'd like to see something happen to make it more about the racer - and a little less about deep pockets. it's becoming an awfully ugly trend. thats not say that they're not any good, but how many racers do any of you see locally that are better than at least 3 or 4 of the Outlaws?

I can't recall having ever seen Gary Wright race until I saw him at the Brainerd, Minnesota, ASCS National Tour race. I've been around for almost 56 years and done some things during my lifetime that some might say a person would have to be half crazy to do. Among the craziest would be crawling under F4 Phantoms to hook them up to a catapult on a carrier and standing by the edge of a big half mile with a camera. Nevertheless, I will be the first to admit that having grown up around Sprint Cars I wouldn't come within 50 feet of strapping into one of those things.
With those thoughts in mind I'll go down on record to say that I respect, admire and praise Natalie for the racer she has become.

OKC, I know you are a lot more familiar with ASCS than I am. When the National Tour came East earlier in the year, I figured there has to be some tow money for the points chasers because I couldn't believe teams towed all the way to New York for $3,000-4,000 to win. The purse for those races wasn't much more than a regular show at the Grove.
Look at all the money Pete Chesson spent for a couple years and now he is out of the sport (Yes, I kow there were some legal issues regarding Barker Bus). Chesson was quoted in print as saying he spent over a million dollars a couple years running.
