O.K. S.B.M. ...... I can still remember like it was last night (1988 or 89 ??)when Randy Smith stuffed McCarl in the wall coming off turn two and the reds came on for something else and on the restart push off he whacked Smiths right front off while Smith was waiting to get pushed. Remember this was pre work area days when they could work on the car anywhere on the track and Smith was stopped waiting to be pushed just about dead nuts in front of the flag stand. I think TMAC was thrown out for like a month. I was in Plant 2 assembly back then and the following Monday morning guys that hated racing were quizing me about it on break. You can never deny that love him or hate him he puts butts (including Duane's saved one) in the seats. I saw Randy at the the track I think summer before last and asked him about it and like all the old timers he (now) laughs about it. Promoters dream compared to the politically correct crap we are now spoon fed on t.v.and the radio shows.

Definitely a Des Moines 'East Sider' Mullet...
Duane, thanks for that pic again...I remember that night as the one Mark Shaffer ran into the ambulance and Shawn Moore got upside down...am I on the right track here?

and Marks dad told the wrecker driver to go to hell when offered to help.
The car went up in the air and landed with the water hydrant stuck between the frame rails.
Kerm had to pay a different wrecker to come to the track and lift the car about 4 feet to clear the hydrant lol.
The Moore kid was upside down on his second lap, and it was slow time for the night.
The time was 2,2 seconds quicker than the late model track record set a week earlier.
Do you see the Monroe gal, Ralphie, and I am on the far right, and that Bee Line billboard was my business.
