Something that a friend of mine had asked to which I do not know the answer to since either of us really know that area too well. Why were sprint cars chosen for this race? Granted a winged 410 sprint car race would be my favorite choice, but would a Late Model show also have worked, or is there not as many owners with that kind of money? Or is it not really Late Model country in that area so there wouldn't be that much interest from Late Model Teams to risk putting money on the line and running the track with a small amount of knowledge about the area?
|
Good point. Answer is likely because CB sees it as the professional end of the sport at a dirt track (which is not wrong) and fans that would then attend and pay his ticket price.
I disagree with high ticket price. CB would have to know that to get good concession money that night he will need affordable ticket to fill stands. Balancing act with ticket price and discretionary income for a one day event like this.
I am also convinced that if race happened, the winner would take the cash and run. Own a track or pocket a few million? Duh.

The Sioux Falls area is primarily sprint car country. Husets was always known for having weekly 410s as well plus WoO, ASCoC, NOSA, Gumout, IRA, NSL, etc shows over the years. Also the track isnt exactly configured to run late models well its seemed from past races.

Not sure about going for concessions is the right plan. 18 -36 cars three heats one feature. no support classes. And the rules say depending on car count maybe no heats even. So one race since you will be lucky to even get 18 cars. No one will be threre long enough to hit the beer tent twice.

This brings up an interesting point.
Between all three teams, drivers, and crew chiefs, not one single mention of this race or retweet of Huset's Twitter's entry posts. In a day and age of activity/retweet everything for exposure, seems quite odd to me.
Also, not on BRM website nor Rudeen Racing.
I wonder if the teams know they're entered???
|
Online schedule doesn't mean anything. The teams are in charge of promoting and they are busy with everything else. Pittman has already confirmed on Twitter they are entered.

Late Models would have been just fine if the track was widened down all the way to the bottom where the concrete infield is.
It would have been more fun to watch the 360's/410's race on that type of wide track.

This just in......pre-race festivities will be headlined by an eating contest featuring none other then the world famous Vince Neil, lead singer of the infamous Motley Crue. 10 lucky contestants will have the chance to beat Vince Neil in an eating contest where you must eat 1 whole BBQ chicken before Vince does. Winner gets a Vince Neil autographed limited edition Huset's ticket from the race, an upgraded VIP seat and one free beverage of their choice. Contest entry fee is a mere $50.00.
Also Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons of KISS have donated an official autographed KISS Coffin/Cooler with a special Huset's Winner Takes All Limited Edition Paint Scheme that will be auctioned off before the race. Auction entry is a mere $1,000.00.

IF this race is run, I do not think heats will be an option. What, wreck your car in a heat and your night ends?
One winner take all race, the lineup is probably set by time trials, best time out of three separate runs per each car or something like that where you do not risk getting wrecked out unless something crazy happens.
You'd almost have to hire some cars just to pack the track, but not race on it.

True late models can't put on a good show there, too narrow of turns. Two wide in the corners is a struggle, forget about three or four wide which most good late model tracks easily achieve. Last true late model show there was a WISSOTA Challenge Series race and it was a wreckfest and very hard on the tail sections of the cars.
Huset's has always been best for sprint racing and also one of the most challenging.

I'm having good time reading everything on here I guess I'm in the same boat as Murphy That this will probaby never happen the thing I find funny is everybody's talking about how many cars will enter That's not the big thing you need to look at if you think the race will happen if it should take place I truly believe the winner will take the 3.6 Mil and will not be interested in the track which means were right back to square one and will have to listen to Chuckie"s little threatsand games Glen M

Got word from reliable source that a knoxville regular (and one you prob wouldnt suspect) will be entering the race. Cant say just yet, but it really made me scratch my head and think this does have a possibility of happening.

Let the speculation begin! Wasn't McCarl involved in one of the previous attempts at buying the track. At least I know hes been vocal on social media about the sale of the place.

It is not McCarl. And I am sure most could figure out that its not Brian Brown (because he hates that track)

Great Line. Made me smile.
You think that one of the cars will serve as a blocker/decoy for the other car?

Word on the street is 10 to 12 teams looking very seriously at signing up. Some have backing and some are still trying to find it and maybe working with a group of teams with several backers. Couple former Husets Champions, couple former owners, couple WoO regulars all wanting in but hanging back to see if it will really happen. I would say its about 50/50 chance of happening. Things need to come together by Aug. 1 if its gonna happen and thats less than 3 weeks out. Let the bashing begin. Haters gonna hate. No I'm not a fan of Chuck but would like to see this happen and the track move forward.

For the good of the track and the area, I agree. I'd like to know if theres an entity behind the scenes that would pay 3.6 to the winner and get CB out if the picture if the winner did not want the track..

Heard through the grapevine that Led Zeppelin is getting back together for a one off show, and you guessed it will be at Huset's. Word is they'll play a three song set to cap off pre-race festivities. Also, I'm not sure if I'm buying this but Chuck's flyin' in some guy from Jersey that supposedly is going to announce where Hoffa's buried.
Man the RUMORS just keep coming. Hundred and fifty dollars would be a bargain ticket with all that's going on that night.
I might sell my Nationals tickets just to rest up before the big show.
