Do you know anyone who lives in any other country? We have friends and family who are dealing with the same thing and the US election has no bearing on when things will fully open for them. My wife and I planned to travel during my retirement and we got shut down after one trip to Norway. Most countries the last time I checked will not allow American travelers due to our cases exceeding those of every other country. I'm curious how our November election will change anything. Or in other words, where do you come up with that shit? Pull it out of you ass?

It's definitely funny. However, the title of the thread kinda gives away what's being discussed. For example, when I see a thread titled "modified A-main" I skip it.

Iowa would definetly be one of the places where it wouldn't spread like crazy, and I doubt it ever would. I don't know if you've ever visited Texas, but it's a very different world down here. Our rural counties are probably much like Iowa, but I don't know if even Des Moines compares with any of our big cities.
|
I don't think Des Moines really compares to many of the big cities. In Ohio it is a different world as well from a population standpoint. Iowa showed a state population 3,155,000 in 2019, in comparison the 3 counties here in Ohio that have our top 3 cities(Columbus - Franklin, Cincinnati - Hamilton, Cleveland - Cuyahoga) have more population than the entire state of Iowa. Looking at square milage, Ohio is smaller (44,825sq/miles compared to Iowa's 56,272sq/mile) and those 3 counties add up to be about 2213sq/miles. So basically you have more population living within 2213sq/miles than a stretch of land of 56,272sq/miles, and there are 4times the people living in Ohio (11.69million) than Iowa. That is why I think you see some not understanding why there are other parts of the country having stricter guidelines than others.

I know that when I post those type of comments but I like watching heads explode when they come up against logic.

The stereotype of the dirt track race fan is no longer a stereotype.

majority of racing is brainwashed by the Maga movement. This is why it spread last week. Hopefully this opens up everyone's eyes that this Isn't a hoax

You are spot on. They do not believe in masks, social distancing, etc. and constantly complain about this still going on. Well the fact of the matter is, people with that philosophy are just extending the duration of the pandemic. They have only themselves to blame.

Stuff must be getting tame if they were packing dingus and the pits and only a few people got it.
Sturgis drew 450,000 for 9 days and only 20-30 people got it.
Still don't see any reason why you can't go to the races outside as long as you stay away from people within reason.
|
IF, and I repeat IF, you truly believe that only 20-30 people contracted covid at Sturgis, then I have some cheap swamp land to sell you.

I understand that but its the pants wetters of the world that are always trying to shut down the WHOLE country.
The Governor of Iowa has been under constant pressure from out of state to shut things down in Iowa.
Iowa has done just fine without shutting everything down and will continue to do just fine.

Let me know when the Covid deaths connected with Sturgis start.
Number of positive tests are going up, numbers of deaths are steadily going down. That is good news that the media rarely reports.

Kim Reynolds literally has the lowest approval rating of any US Governor for handling the pandemic.
Iowa has had more cases per capita than Illinois, despite it containing the third largest city in the US where the population density is way more conducive to a virus spreading.
The only reason the raw numbers aren't there yet is because Iowa is so sparcely populated, but that's starting to change as it's starting to creep to the rural areas where people haven't done shit for mitigation. 23 of 99 counties currently have a rolling 14-day positivity percentage of greater than 10%.
It seems that not only is your attitude towards this thing completely wrong, but you're also grossly misinformed.

Positive cases by themselves don't really matter. Deaths and hospitalizations matter. Look at death rates.
Iowa has a death rate per 100,000 that is roughly half of Illinois.

I don't think anyone is wetting their pants trying to do anything nor trying to shut down the whole country and no one is certainly taking anyone's freedom away. I do think that several individuals have/had legitimate health concerns about this thing especially at the start of it since their seemed to be no treatment or too much knowledge about it. Just the rest of the planet was dealing with it and we had not seen 1case or so we thought. Countries were doing more intense lockdowns than we were and a lot of these countries had the same freedoms as we do as there are well over 180 countries with freedom. It was/is a real thing and it is something that has not happened in over 100years, unprecedented in our lifetimes.
When it finally made its way over here to the states instead of people looking after their fellow citizens instead they called people who wore masks sheeple & people who didn't murders. Individuals who were fine with things closing down for the sake of everyone's health were called socialists and the people who wanted things to stay open for the good economy were called uncompasionate. People who caught the virus were accused of just having a bad case of the flu and the people who died were met with, oh well people die everyday as if it was acceptable. People who were able to work from home were called non-essential suits, people forced to into the workplace were called essential or as some put it expendible, and the people who unfortunately lost/laid off from their job were called lazy freeloaders being a drag on the economy and society. Something that infected the rest of the world first and us last suddenly has an expiration date of Nov 3rd and now we don't have to worry about walls being built because other countries have closed us off from them, and them from us. Something that was supposed to be scientific & medical got turned into Red & Blue like every other friggin thing in this country this day and age because apparently that is how viruses work.
I'm personally fiscally conservative, socially I lean to the left. I didn't vote for my current Gov but wasn't upset when he got elected either. I do not agree with all of his approaches but feel he has handled this pandemic issue pretty well balancing the economy and the health as he has listened to experts on both fronts instead of relying on a political agenda.

But Iowa has a higher death rate/100K than Minnesota, Wisconsin, and every other surrounding state outside of Illinois. Not sure what your point is?

Yeah, I see it is up to possibly 112 cases now out of 450,000 after a couple of weeks. 1/4000, 0.025%.

So now that we are a day shy or so of the longest possible incubation period. How many people that were at Knoxville for the long weekend actually contracted COVID-19? I have heard about the BIG outbreak. This week they reported a 60% increase in cases in Knoxville. Went from 5 to 8. They could have said only 3 new cases, but no, had to say 60% spike. Almost as if they are trying to instill fear into the general public? Nahhhh
