Yes, the Race is On Speed Shift Tv...
Also, the biggest news, Tim Shaffer is running the 100k Mansfield Show...
I'm not new to forums, but I ownly posted a couple times here and I can't post a simple copy & paste link here to it... It's saying it doesn't support my browser... I'm using google chrome for Christ sakes...

Does anyone have the video of Rico, Spencer, and Carson duking it out last year at Mansfield? It was the day after the kings royal if i remember right?

Why would any driver who enters the Nationals want to enter this race?
1)Knoxville Nationals has a $554,000 A Main which pays $10,000 to start, plus another $450,000 distributed over 3 other days of racing. The A Main for this event is $200,500, with starting money of only $2,000. That is a big difference. While I get why everyone likes what he is doing, much like the Gateway event, there isn't enough compensation in the rest of this program to make it worth a team to leave their home area to run at Mansfield, which brings up point 2. Gateway works because there is no competition in December, but by this date in April all the other tracks and series are up an running.
2)Race teams all have sponsors, and those sponsors pay to see their teams at Knoxville, and Lincoln etc. The number of "national" teams is pretty limited that aren't running the Outlaws. Sponsors expect to see their teams at Knoxville and Lincoln. Which gets me to point 3.
3)If he really wants this to be a national event like it is being billed, he needs to move the date to September, or realistically the week after the National Open. That would be a time where you could draw all the cars from Knoxville and PA.
The Knoxville Nationals is a special event that works because it pays gobs of money. If you want to see a feild at Mansfield similar to Knoxville, then put up a $1,000,000 purse. Chuck Brennan tried the same deal at Husets and got a limited field, and Tod Quiring is putting up close to $300,000 (plus paying the Outlaw ransome) to make the Jackson Nationals a premier event.

I think that is the point slide guy, it's not Knoxville...
Ascot was the greatest of all time..
West Capital wasn't half bad either..
Life is good...

Well after comparing the SCWC list to the knoxville entry list from 2017, here are the big names (in my opinion) who I still think should be at Mansfield:
Austin McCarl
Brady Bacon - gets a pass for chasing USAC points
Brooke Tatnell
Danny Lasoki
Dominic Scelzi
Dusty Zomer
Greg Hodnett
Jamie Veal - probably not going to be in the USA yet
Josh Baughman - probably wants to race against WoO in home state
Lucas Wolfe
Lynton Jeffery
Mark Dobmeier
Paul McMahan
Sam Hafertepe - probably wants to race against WoO in home state
Sammy Swindell
Tasker Phillips
So when its all said and done we're only missing those 12 drivers with just under 2 weeks to register.

Why no Fred Rahmer Jr?
Why no dude from Winnipeg. Cant remeber his name. 3rd generation guy races in River Cities lots I think. Winnipeg isnt too far away?
Wish I could go but 28 hrs is a bit. 1600 miles isnt too bad but 2800 km is crazy lol.
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Looks like 79 drivers/ teams disagree
This race pays gobs of $$$ too, just smaller gobs than Knoxville. $2,000 to start is better than some tracks pay to win
Not enough compensation for the rest of program? 24 teams will win at least $2,000... its a competition, not a 9 to 5 job
"you pays your money & you takes your chances"......
Only thing I would worry about is the weather... is there a Plan B?

I've been looking around at websites and such. Here are a few bigger names that are coming.
Cory Eliason, Brock Zearfoss, Lance DeWease, Rico Abreu, Spencer Bayston. Brian Brown has it listed as tentative. I think Blaney, Haud, Kemenah and a few others will be there as well.
|
more young guns from N. California. Cory Alliason (sp), Gio Scelzi, Carson Maceado, DJ NEtto to name a few. Im sure there are more to come...
Ascot was the greatest of all time..
West Capital wasn't half bad either..

I hope they get 80-90 cars. The promoter deserves that level of support for putting up the purse. And with no Outlaws, a lot of guys could win.
Hypothetical, but possible given the crappy weather so far. What if devils bowl gets monsoon rain and has to cancel the weekend? Do they get to run?

If they register before April 25th Mansfield will allow them to run. Whether the Outlaws let them is another story entirely.

Because the WoO do not run a show at Mansfield at any time this year. Only tracks that have the WoO on their schedule are open for a WoO Platinum driver to make an appearance.

That's not true unless it changed for this season. Sheldon ran an All-Star show at Wayne County last season after a weeknd rained out and WCS is not on the Outlaw schedule

Since Pittman and some other drivers ran the $13k to win race at I-81 (something like that) i have to imagine that the "WoO schedule" deal isn't true. Just must have approval from woo.

I seem to remember in the past it was if the track ran a WoO show during the year and the drive met the other stipulations (like no show in the next XX hours and within X miles, can't recall the exact numbers) then they do not need approval. If not, they need permission to run the track.

I believe its true just not worded 100% accurate. WoO drivers are allowed to race at tracks that host WoO events when they are off. They are also allowed to run non-WoO tracks but need permission in advance. I'm sure the WoO allowed Sheldon to run WCS because he lives 10 mins from the track and they were coming back to ohio regardless for Eldora the following weekend. If for some reason Devil's bowl cancels the entire weekend before the SCWC registration deadline, World Racing Group will have a lot of pissed off drivers if they don't let them run. Personally I think this event has a better turnout without WoO present.

Pittman was not in his WoO car for that deal.

I'm pumped for this race as it's getting closer. I know on 4m we have some meet and greets. Maybe I'll meet a few of you sprint car fanatics there! Can't wait.
