You really need to move on from this, 90% of the media's coverage of this has been a complete joke .

It doesn't matter if I move on or not. The facts are the facts. its a virus, its gonna do its thing

Seems strange that revjimk has not said "no politics" yet.

Why would I?  People have pretty much stayed on topic about the pandemic, no wild accusations of Governors trying to be "Dictators" or any other distractions

Love these replies. Guy posts a link from the Mayo Clinic, one of the (if not the) most reputable medical institutions in the world and your response "LOL HURR DURR FAKE NEWS MEDIA AINT RIGHT".

Just incredible. The average rationale, logic and intellect of Americans is just tailspinning.

Thanks

majority of racing is brainwashed by the Maga movement. This is why it spread last week. Hopefully this opens up everyone's eyes that this Isn't a hoax

Agree.  Love the response because it's about spot on.  Reminds me of a South Park episode (I believe it was) when everytime someone questioned a politician, they immediately yelled "remember 9/11!" and everyone would forget what they were saying and start clapping.  Same thing.  Someone puts out a study from a reputable source, and it is smashed by the "LOL HURR DURR FAKE NEWS MEDIA AINT RIGHT."

The ironic thing is the "sheeple" are actually the people accusing everyone else of being the "sheeple."

Stuff must be getting tame if they were packing dingus and the pits and only a few people got it.

Sturgis drew 450,000 for 9 days and only 20-30 people got it.

Still don't see any reason why you can't go to the races outside as long as you stay away from people within reason.

I don't disagree with your last sentence at all.  This is the time of year we should have been hoping it would spread a little more widely.

And for "stuff must be getting tame"-----it's "getting tame" because it's still summer.  Hoping it stays tame once conditions are actually favorable for spread and infection like they were when this blew up in the late winter and early spring.  Everyone should notice a distinct difference in the rate of spread when conditions are more "favorable."

Positive tests, big deal.   The death rate keeps dropping with more positive tests.

This thing has been blown so far out of proportion by the media and select govt officials doing everything they can to keep this thing going until Nov 3.

Time will tell kooks.  If we really do have a problem when the air turns cooler, and this thing does explode and overload our health care system during traditional cold/flu season, I'm assuming you will be right back on here saying "my bad", correct?

I'll be back here telling you that we should have let this thing run its course during warm weather instead of peeing our collective pants and closing everything down.

We went from "slow the spread" so we wouldn't overwhelm the health care system to "stop the spread" while most of our hospitals are nearly empty.

Not sure where you're from, but letting it run it's course may have worked great wherever you live.   In other places though, it could be devastating.   Texas could be one of those places, and may be a good indication of what could happen during flu season.  We've got a large percentage of our population with multiple generations living in one household.   Resuming school and letting it run through the school kids so they become immune sounds logical, but what happens when they live with their grandparents?    We may be finding out soon.   School has resumed in some districts down here.   Right now our cases in North Texas have gone way down.   If it explodes again, then that may give us the answer to that question.

I don't know about Texas but in Iowa kids never stopped seeing their friends throughout the summer.

My kids have had baseball/Tee Ball seasons, swimming pools were open and now football/soccer and school have already started.   We never stopped visiting either my parents or my wifes parents throughout the ordeal either.   My kids get off of the school bus at their grandparents house everyday.

I think he said "depending on where you're from"-----------I don't see a lot of mass transit, crowded streets and professional sporting events in Iowa.  The spread in rural places like you and I live will take place in the traditional flu season.  That is one of the many benefits of living in rural communities.  But don't think just because your kids played football/baseball/soccer when it is/was warm out, that it will be happening 1, 2 or 3 months from now.  I would be willing to bet there will be NO basketball anywhere in the midwest until well after the first of the year---if it even happens then.  I already told my son (who is in high school) get ready for spring football because basketball is NOT happening.  Football is at best a 50/50.  The areas that have already been hard hit, will have a much milder second round.  Those of us all warm, fuzzy, and cocky should be the ones worrying the 2nd time around.  Politics aside, I've talked to a number (dozens) of friends in health care from paramedics, to nurses, to doctors.  They have all been put on alert for when the colder weather hits and procedures are already being put in place.  They vote from both sides of the aisle.  One of my paramedic friends is still on the "hoax" end of things.  Most of the nurses are taking is seriously--all but 1.  And ALL of the doctors I know are concerned for fall.  Many are in agreement with me---and probably you----we should have let this thing roll a little bit harder during the summer months so it got through a little more of the population before fall.  It didn't happen, and our little health care systems in farm-town USA may be in for a treat this fall.  Either way, school won't last til Halloween and there will be no winter sports.

So, back to Knoxville, they were reacting to the bad publicity from the Outlaws show spread and thinking ahead to fall

Wait, I thought the ACA included the death panels? Seems ole Kooks here wants to let this thing run rife, regardless of any damage.

Hope everyone is loving all the WINNING we're doing with this! USA USA USA #1!!!

Interesting Nick, I hope you're negative and if you're OK with it let us know.

Got a call sunday morning stating I was negative which I anticipated considering no one that no one that I was directly with at Knoxville nor myself had any symptoms. At worst I figured I would by asymptomatic. Biggest reasons as to why I choose to get tested was because of work & having co workers that have existing issues, and family members. My mom works at a nursing home so it is safer to know either way just in case my son or myself are around her the next couple of weeks. Would not want to get any of those patients sick. Also my ex mother in law does watch my son 1-2 times a week as well as her other daughter's kids up in Cleveland off an on. Wouldn't want anything to be transferred up there as well.

Nothing was a big inconvienance for me and we thought we had done a pretty good job in avoiding the crowds at Knoxville. We did not go to Dingus as it looked pretty crowded (plus no one to watch the little one anyway), we moved our seats a couple times if we felt too uncomfortable (although it would have been nice for others to be a little bit more respectful but oh well, sometimes you have to be the bigger person), wore masks, and sanatized our hands often. Really the only time where it was hard to distance was getting into the pits. At that point it was kind of a free for all but we figured out a way to manage that as well.

Good deal Nick, glad to hear it.   My cousin went to Knoxville with his grandson, and my cousin is very high risk.   He also stayed away from Dingus.    He said the stands were not a problem, he just had to be careful when he went to the concession stands and bathroom.  Glad it worked out well for you.

Do you know anyone who lives in any other country?  We have friends and family who are dealing with the same thing and the US election has no bearing on when things will fully open for them.  My wife and I planned to travel during my retirement and we got shut down after one trip to Norway.  Most countries the last time I checked will not allow American travelers due to our cases exceeding those of every other country.  I'm curious how our November election will change anything.  Or in other words, where do you come up with that shit?  Pull it out of you ass?

Iowa would definetly be one of the places where it wouldn't spread like crazy, and I doubt it ever would.   I don't know if you've ever visited Texas, but it's a very different world down here.    Our rural counties are probably much like Iowa, but I don't know if even Des Moines compares with any of our big cities.
