Help me understand this.  Doesn't Tod Quiring own the Jackson speedway with plans to make it a great track that also races on Saturday nights?  He just dumped a bunch of money widening the track as well as updating all the lighting.   The qoute where Terry said Jackson runs 410s Friday night, When did this start?  Its he talking about special shows?  As far as I know they still run 360s Sat night right?  Is Husets going to be running 360s Sunday night?

 

JACKSON – If all goes as planned, there are some big changes ahead for the Jackson Speedway. The Jackson County Commissioners this week adopted a resolution of intent to sell the Jackson Speedway to Windom businessman Tod Quiring for $500,000, directing staff to prepare the formal purchase agreement and other documents for a 5-year contract for deed for consideration at their March 3 meeting.

Quiring was represented by his Chief Financial Officer Luke Lundt, who told the board they plan business as usual in 2015, with Jon McCorkle still running the track. After the 2015 racing season, there are some changes in the works, according to Lundt.

The first would be to take the track from a half mile to a three-eights mile track, widening it and banking the corners. The pits would also be moved, Lundt said.

In the fall of 2016, phase two would commence, which consists of adding seating – enough so that each event could hold 10,000 people.

Phase three, in the fall of 2017, is when an elevated observation deck would be added. Lundt said additional business entertainment will be added – not only racing, but concerts and other entertainment, which would be a boon to the community and the area, with 4 or 5 shows a year. The goal, he also said, was to make the Jackson National one of the main focuses for all of sprint car racing

Exactly! So why should he care other than he is concerned with helping out the sport the best way he can. By Terrys logic he should be in favor of this change but he wants whats best for the sport not whats best for Brian. This could mean fewer cars at Knoxville/less competition and possibly more pay to complete with Husets yet he is still not in favor. I used to not be a huge fan or Brownie but more and more he continues to impress me as one of the best ambassadors of the sport!

 

 

It would be more on the side of helping out the sport than not if the owner didnt come out and say he was going to try to out do Knoxville.  That's ridiculous and he is fighting an up-mountain battle.  I think they will still get some cars, but not 42 410's that come to Knoxville each week.

Lifelong Sioux Falls resident and I used to go to Husets every weekend, the Ruebens lost me though. I've been thinking about this and I'm willing to give it a shot. Knoxville is a hell of a drive from Sioux Falls, I do it once a year for the nationals, sometimes I go to a regular show too. There really isn't a lot of Knoxville guys that run Husets, it's not their fault  though. Unless they are proffesional racers or have every Monday off it's just not feasible to drive home and go to work.

Now that I am older and work at 7 in the morning going to Husets is less and less apealing. Also, try getting a new fan to come out on a Sunday night until 10:30 or later, it's a tough sell. If Chuck Brennan really can increase the purse, improve the track (for the love of god figure out track prep!) and get some more drivers involved it might work. I know some local racers that are excited about it because now they don't have to stay at the pits til midnight or later on Sunday. There has got to be some teams or racers that don't want to pull down to Knoxville every weekend and also don't want to stay out late Sunday that this could really work well for. 

I really don't appreciate the shit talking towards Knoxville, it's unwarranted, but this plan might be crazy enough to work. They can always go back to Sundays...

There is a very very simple fix for getting the races done earlier on Sunday night and it doesn't involve starting the races on Saturday night.

 

 Do track prep before the races start so you don't need to bring the grader out on a regular basis.   Quit with the back gate promoting BS.     Start the show on time with 3 classes of cars.     Don't waste time between races and get enough push trucks/4 wheels to start 24 sprint cars in less than a minute.   Get equipped to clean wrecked cars off of the track quickly.    Does anyone else remember the Slick 50 races from Arizona in the early 90's?   They used forklifts to carry wrecked cars off of the track.    Why not use a small payloader with a set of pallet forks for carrying cars back to the infield?    It would be a heck of a lot faster than picking them up with a wrecker.

If there was a real effort to run a fast program it wouldn't be that dang hard to start racing at 7:30pm on Sunday night and have the final checkered flag drop by 10:00 pm.    

I'm not any more in favor of being at a race track late on Saturday night than I am on Sunday night.   I've got young sons that like to go with me and I don't really care what night of the week it is I hate having to wake them up to get them to the car.

 

Currently there are 5-7 cars that run both Knoxville and Huset's.     Huset's will be lucky to keep 3 of those.

I like all of his talk of upping the purse and points fund by why not keep it on Sunday night and try to draw some more of those Knoxville cars.    There are more professional drivers at Knoxville that would be more likely to run Huset's on Sunday night if the payout was worth driving the miles.

I don't think Husets running on Saturday is that big of deal, do they really get that many guys running both Kville and Husets weekly?

He can smack talk Knoxville all he wants but the fact is he has a long way to go before he "crushes anything they have done." I hope this guy does some more interviews and videos, I get a good laugh at some of his comments.
