Been on the board since it's near beginning. Had a different user name at one time I nw don't recall. Did go to the first Hoser's meeting in Knoxville.
|
Do they have that meeting every year?
I gotta check it out next time I get to Knoxville....

been reading since 2000....i remember having to re-register
might have pushed buttons as well living down the highway from Husets, and getting into it with McCarl fans over the years
but great memories....NODUST invited myself and my son to sit with him in a suite at knoxville..and always talked to him when he came up to HUSETS
got many great pics from MSPN
helped me spend a summer doing the broadcasts in knoxville with KNIA/KRLS in 2001....also got to have a 1 on 1 brief meeting with tony stewart at eldora that summer in the announce booth as they sent a MIDWEST MAFIA package to Eldora for me
Brad Doty himself, gave me recomendations on hotels when i made my first trip to the DOTY classic from south dakota, and then spent a few moments talking to me when i introduced myself in the pits....

I remember at one point almost all of the topics on the first page of the message board was all about TMAC.

Still here at age 72! Youth beware. Get in all the racing you can, while you can. I only made it to eleven race programs last year. Age will slow you down. No one is exempt! However, the good news is, you can still recognize "BS" at the track, from promoters, owners, drivers and other fans. Wisdom does come from aging. Nah! E-mods.........

First time I heard about it was from Terry Gray, back in '97.
Met several people and became friends with them from this board over the years.

Super Chuck says he joined the fun 99ish. Blame Nelligan. He convinced him to check it out whilst peddling his fuzzy photos (Super Chuck owns hundreds of them).
Still browse once a week or so. The Twitterverse has made racing information so much more available and it's kind of amazing this place is still around. Handfulls of trolls have come and gone, but wonder what ever happened to that Beadie guy? If Super Chuck had to guess, the guy probably got stabbed in a bar fight in Albuquerque for running his jib.

I've always wondered if Super Chuck talking in the 3rd person predates presidential candiate Bob Dole talking about Bob Dole in the 3rd person.

I had a different username when I first got on here in ’98. I don’t even remember what it was.
I do remember “Wertz”. He was a Lasoski fan. Every time Lasoski won he’d post “Ring that bell”.
“Ref” got under my skin at times. He knew how to get a reaction out of you. His comments could be pretty funny though.
The Open Wheel Wizard seemed to have more of the non-wing crowd back then. Kind of like today’s Indiana Open Wheel.
When Earl made the decision for the Eldora Million to be a non-wing race back in ‘03, this board went off the rails.
Before Twitter and FB, this board was your go-to to get race results. Fans would post results, not some PR person. I was one of them. I would hurry home from a race somewhere and if I didn’t see any results, I’d post the winner, top 3, a brief recap. That was using dial-up. I would type up a whole story on the board and then it was freeze and my story would disappear. Drove me nuts. There were times I’d write something 5x before it actually posted.
Discussions really heated up during Nationals week. More often than not, this board would crash and be down for hours, if not days. The worst possible time to do that.

Wertz created and maintained Lasoski's website. His name is Chad Wertzema (sp?). The last I saw on one of his Facebook posts he was living down in Oakdale, MN, about 25 miles south of me.

I first saw this board in 99 or 2000. Have checked it almost everyday since. Im interested to see my actual join date. I'm one of the idiots that used my real name when I joined. Used to be on NMRA board and Stans board too. Won a GRP trivia contest over there. Met good friends rpmx and The Hat from this board. Camp with them. Back in the early 2000's while in high school, hoseheads was the main reason I went to the library, had high speed internet there to surf this site and look at sprint car pics! Great times because of this board!

I was just thinking how many posts and responses I've had over the years. Can someone enlighten me on who are some of the original hosers, are they still active, and how long this message board has been active?
I'm thankful we have a place outside of the main social media world, where we can share info despite some of the low IQ posts.

I have been a member since the beginning but my join date shows 2006. Don't recall why but I think my account had to be reset. I had the MN board from the beginning but tried a couple others then settled back on this one. It's hard to remember what I did this morning let alone twenty years ago.

Did you know that the date you joined under your current username is listed in every post just to the right of your username?
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Still check in and lurk a bit from time to time. Had some pretty good discussions with some folks. Openwheeler was pretty darn good guy that was associated with the Williams 0 outta Cali, sent me signed Peter Murphy shirts one time and 0 Christmas ornaments after I picked him up some WoO decals at the Fargo WoO show. Great guy but I believe he passed away.

Hoser Knoxville Meet Ups were great. The first one for sure sticks in my memory as it was done up pretty nice. Wasn't it DuaneO or Duano that got the ball rolling to hold the first one?

I remember Wertz, actually met him once at Nellys (MSPNs) booth a lot of years ago.

There has been a message board here on my site since it started in the 90's. The first was run out of the state of Washington by someone whose name I totally forget.I think Michael something. Jeff came along and has been doing a great job for 20 years. I was a member of the open Wheel Wizard site also. Modem and Windows 95 when I first started Hoseheads.

We were there at Open Wheel Wizard together, weren't we Allan?
