JG is the best in the business. Nobody works harder to bring a broadcast to life. He somehow manages to get every team's sponsor mentioned on every broadcast. The OP is a complete moron (troll), obviously. I'd say Chet and Blake are really good too, but as far as the Voice of the Outlaws goes, JG is iconic. His play by play calls are the perfect mix of information needed to ensure what is on-screen mixed with what is not currently on-screen is being transmitted to the listner/watcher. There is no equal.
|
Considering that we've never heard from OP before or since, I'm pretty sure he's somebody just trying to create some controversy as Silly Season draws to a close
"Inbred Hillbilly"???? come on.... gotta be a fake. Probably some guy from Iowa trying to make Pennsyltucky look bad

Keep doing what you're doing JG... Just one of the things I look forward to and expect to hear at a WoO race.
Just like seeing Working Woody was an expection I always looked forward to which we no longer can appreciate.

No help needed with that. It might well have been the guy from PA that lived down the street from us for about the last ten years. He recently moved back to PA and its been reported that the IQ in both states went up.

I don’t care what everyone thinks . I agree about his knowledge BUT His voice is absolutely annoying. When I watch a video I turn off the sound. And oh yes Allstar “ oh doctor “ is annoying.

I like the Outlaws signature voice and the parade lap speel may be old but it builds anticipation every time.
Bring back Santa Fe, and LaSalle .

That's kind of cold hearted seeing Johnny comes on here and is nice about answering questions... Some people have accents and were all from different parts of the country...

For me personally, I'm not a fan of his. BUT that doesn't mean I don't respect him. I have watched many sports broadcasts throughout the years (most NASCAR races since 1997, as many NFL games as I could since 2007 and most sprint car races on TV since 1995) and I would need no more than my fingers and toes to tell you how many announcers I really enjoy or have enjoyed listening to. To be honest about the only reason I still watch NASCAR anymore is to hear Jeff Gordon, I was never a fan of his as a driver but I love his take on things as an announcer. Dale Jr., who I was a fan of as a driver, I could care less to hear him as an announcer, I love to listen to his podcasts and interviews but I'm not a fan of his announcing, not that he's bad, he just doesn't do it for me.
To me as far as sprint car racing goes I haven't heard a team any better than Ralph Shaheen and Dick Bergren. The seemed to have good timing, knew just when to get excited and were knowledgeable. I was never a fan of Brad Doty either, not that he does a bad job and not that I don't respect him either but he doesn't do it for me either.
I will never criticize an announcer, I know (like most jobs) it's not as easy as it looks. People don't like his catch phrases from what I'm hearing. Basically the guy is talking to himself for 3-4 hours. If there's one thing I would reccomend, maybe he needs a partner? There's lots of action going on and it's a lot for one person to take in.
What makes a "great" announcer? Personally I think it's luck. Someone says the right thing at the right time and it's remembered forever. Would Al Michaels be who he is today if he hadn't called the 1980 olympics?

Johnny Gibson is vital to the WoO. I cant imagine going to an outlaw show and not hearing those pipes over the PA. Johnny...even though you blocked me on Twitter for simply disagreeing with you, you are greatness my man. Dont ever stop.

like someone else mentioned, his knowledge of Outlaws rulebook, ability to rattle off all the car's sponsors, & not ever really stumble over his words, he's second to none. But as far as favorite announcer, gotta go with BG, Bobby Gerould. Has lots of knowledge as well as good humor, & a ca. local of course

Johnny does a good job. Hearing the same 4 wide announcement gets old when you have Dirtvision, but for the once a year fan in the stands, it is a goosebump moment. My only complaint is the "Slidejobbbbbb!!!!" shout every time someone makes a run to the bottom. It's not a slide job when the LF stays withing a foot of the berm.

Is it even morally correct to discuss a person on a forum who is also on the forum!
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

I can appreciate the guy's knowledge, but I absolutely cannot stand to hear Johnny Gibson announcing races. When he's talking at a normal volume it's not so bad, but once he raises the pitch of his voice and starts talking loudly it drives me nuts. I know I'm not alone in this because I've spoken to others who cannot stand his voice.
And on the parade lap when he says that same cheesy thing he's said for years and years... C'mon now. Dude needs to be replaced. He's not an elite voice talent by any means.

You do know, Inbred Hillbilly, Outlaws announcer Johnny Gibson is from Pennsylvania, actually Pennsyltucky.

I'd say so since he's probably following along and getting a good laugh at all the nonsense. People who put themselves out there and become public figures are typically pretty thick skinned. He's probably seen/heard all this before but he just keeps doing his thing and most of us appreciate his work because he's an iconic figure in our sport. If he were foolish enough to think that he can please everybody, he probably wouldn't have lasted too long but he's still out there getting paid to travel with the premier sprint car series in the world living amongst the best drivers and teams in the sport while seeing this beautiful country of ours from sea to shining sea. Meanwhile, here in Pennsyltucky, I'll get up in the morning and go work a real job getting paid peanuts from a multi millionaire. I'd say Johnny has a lot to smile about regardless of what some inbred hillbilly thinks with one of his 5 functional brain cells. Keep up the good work Johnny. Can't wait to hear you send them off in style at Williams Grove this coming May.

I think he's an awesome announcer. His calls are fantastic. His energy is perfect for Sprint car racing. I also think Chet is incredible so is Essex from Lucas Oil LM. My favorite are the blokes in New Zealand at Western Springs. I do however think Johnny is thinned skinned. He blocked me on Twitter over a debate about UCF being in the college football playoff. I didn't say anything insulting to him either and he comes across as a very unstable Pens and Steelers fan with his opinions on them. He gets vwet defensive if skmenso criticizes the Outlaws rules or something on Twitter, last week he was when it came to the fuel rule. But as an announcer he's incredible.

It may be fake and if it is, we're still talking about someone with a simple mind if this is what entertains them.
