Sounds like you are assuming there are no good cars anywhere else in the country. Beside that, how much handicapping is going on during speedweek...just curious. Might not wanna hang your hat on those handicap shows much these days, Port did away with them, Grove is half time trial shows now and everytime you look Lincoln is having a special that is time trial.
Also kind of want to put this out there, maybe it seems like the competition is so much deeper because of the handicapping. Lets guys start up front in equal equipment on burnt up tracks and they just hang on. So a few guys are getting wins that otherwise wouldn't have, think about it. I can think of a few guys that could go absolutely anywhere and win in the country if things fell there way. But lets be honest, 85% of Williams Grove or Lincolns field isn't just traveling and gonna be competitive out of the box like Larson has. Time to get a grasp on reality.

I agree with most of your post but the reason central PA tracks are going away and/or modifying handicapping is because the competition IS much deeper, cars are more equal and the top guys are complaining that they can't win from mid-pack anymore, although a few like Montieth, Dietrich and Hodnett can. About the only time you see a burnt up track for the feature in central PA is a TT show. Fact is that handicapping still provides the most entertaining racing and most passsing; nothing more, nothing less. It's dying though because some top dollar teams and big name drivers don't want to deal with it anymore.
I do think it's embarassing that some PA fans will chose to run down an out of state driver after one bad night at a track he's never seen before. I guess Dewease and Hodnett must suck too then since they didn't do well last night.

Central PA is a step down from the modern political arena called NASCAR.

in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

I was being sarcastic. The competition is equal if not tougher in Indiana. Kokomo's Sunday weekly show is incredibly tough. That doesn't include MSCS, KISS, USAC, etc.

I can't wait to see Larson race at the Grove and Port. Obviously, this guy is a serious talent!
And congrats to Stevie Smith for winning a second Ohio Speedweek Championship. The second guy who was born and raised in Central PA to win THEIR championship. Keith Kauffman also did it in 1987 in the Roy Morral Hardee's #880.

The first time Kyle went to Kokomo was a lot like his first time at Lincoln. He flipped up into the catchfence. But earlier this year he swept boththe usac national midget race and sprint car race in the same night at Kokomo, and has gotten two total sprint car wins there this year in only a few races.
