I can't believe Limaland hasn't been mentioned. Aluminum main bleachers. everything is paved. Clean restrooms/concessions. Skyboxes. It's definitely NOT Lucas Oil Speedway, but I think it ranks 2nd as far as facility is concerned.

Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a really beautiful track! Great seating, great consessions, and lots of bathrooms. I wish they had more races there!

My personal favorite track is The Tulare Tunderbowl! Just an awesome facility, awesome promotors, and awesome track that always has 3 wide racing! Lucky me I get to go there this weekend to watch the best race of year- Trophy Cup! Something about the methanol plus the lovely aroma of the dairy farms nearby that get me all excited, he he! It takes me over 5 hours to get there but it is well worth the drive! If you haven't been to Tulare you are missing out wink

Looking forward to the new Golden State King of the
West series schedule!

Winged sprintcars = the fastest and most exciting
racecars on dirt!

Elko Speedway has everything you mentioned above. And it can either be a dirt track or asphalt track in a matter of 8 hrs. Plus they have a bar under the grandstand complete with 4 to 6 pool tables, 2 bars, a stage with bands playing with good bands while the races are going. And the staff there is second to none,

I'll agree with you on Elko as far as grandstand, restrooms, concessions, etc. but it's not my favorite. In fact it's almost too citified for my taste, the first year I was there I took a victory lane photo (unlike other tracks next to the grandstand) and wanted to get a jump on the crowd so I rushed out to my car. On the way I tripped on a curb and took a nose dive but managed to shield the camera equipment. That's what I mean by too citified, who's watching for sidewalks and curbs while they're rushing through a dirt track parking lot? For fans their setup is great but for those of us running around with camera equipment aside from the nose dive it's too spread out. If one parks out back by the pit gate they keep the gate locked until all transponders are turned in. Work out of my trunk on the grandstand side and it's a lot of walking including a big hill to get up to the track. Just not my favorite setup from that aspect and I wasn't there for this last race so I haven't seen the great racing yet, good but not great. Still one of the nicest facilities around but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Don't particularly care for the drive through the heart of the Twin Cities to get home but that's just my personal location.

Cedar Lake is still my favorite as far as camping and enjoying the post race party. A leisurely half hour country drive, camping on private grounds so it's nice and relaxed compared to the places where the sheriff is standing over people like an old nanny. The racing is pretty darned good there.

Sleeper is St. Croix Valley. The on track action is so darned good there but I'm kind of partial to quarter and half miles, not so much for the dirt track equivalents of NASCAR's cookie cutter tracks (the 3/8).

Bathrooms and stuff like that aren't my gauge for what makes a good race track. That's just my opinion but I'm partial to the racing and everything else isn't the foremost thing on my mind.

As far as other tracks mentioned, Knoxville, Lucas Oil, California tracks, I don't get to do much traveling out of the local area and dirt track vacations are a hard sell to a non-race-fan wife. For me dirt track racing is mostly what works best close to home and not something I'm going on many cross country trips to see. I have always looked at it as local entertainment for the most part.

Go to Bear Ridge in Bradford Vermont. They have been running sprints and midgets this year and is way better than Canaan.

Or do what I did : move from Maine to Indy 6 years ago. Its a smorgasbord of racing out here.........

Not so hilarious when I'm in midair trying to break my fall with one hand and protect a camera, lens and flash with the other thinking "this is going to s*ck". I can laugh now but I was totally caught off guard by curbs and sidewalks. wink

The "nicest" racetrack has white washed guardrails and fences, no suites, dirt pits in the infield with haulers you can see over, a tunnel - and a good field of race cars that are much faster than they are shiny!

Nuthin' fancy - just good racin' and good people

I heard bad things about bradford, never went, but canaan was decent. caanan has sprints just as often, midgets only at bradford 4 times this year.

Agree on Lucas Oil Speedway, even though I've never been there. Everything I've read or seen is first class, but you would expect that from Forrest and Charlotte Lucas. As far as the tracks I get too, Eagle near Lincoln,NE, River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks,ND and Huset's are the best. Also very easy to get to via interstate highways. I especially like the look for Husets in that the entire track is surrounded wall to wall with billboards, the way a race track should look. River Cities is similar in that respect.

Texas and Vegas are in another category, like Charlotte, but almost too costly to maintain on a regular race schedule. As far as outside the midwest, my wife, son and I spent twice spent two weeks on a trip out east trying to catch the WoO as much as possible, including Micigan Speedway with Indy Cars and Dover with Nascar. Each year we hit 5 or 6 of these dirt tracks- the Grove, Lernerville, Lincoln, Sellingsgrove, Lebanon Valley, Canandaigua, Ransomville and Rolling Wheels. I think a couple of these are now closed, but though the racing was fantastic, none were "classy" joints, but its been 15 years.

What made the trips really great was my first experience with Big Block Modifieds. I knew nothing about them and when they came on the track I was especting something like what we have in the Dakotas, Wissota Modifieds. Boy, was I surprised. I asked the guy sitting next to me if this was some sort of one-off night for the mods and he told me about the 358 and BB mod classes. A sprint car with a mod body sitting on it. Crazy fast.

Lawlessness and liberalism equals Hell. NY City,
Detroit, Seattle, Chicago, Minnepolis, etc. We saw it.
Burning hundreds of buildings, a thousand assaults and
dozens of murders. Getting worser and worser.

If you haven't been to Selinsgrove in 15 years, you'd be susrprised now. It's one of the nicer facilities in PA but of course it's not on par with Knoxville, Lucas Oil, Lowes, VMS, PAS etc. Few tracks are in that category but most of the tracks in PA have made some nice improvements over the last decade. Port has the high rise aluminum bleachers. Lincoln has the paved pits. The Grove isn't fancy but is well maintained.
