GET WELL TERRY , Bad luck continues to plague Terry McCarl , God I hope he recovers quickly .
This is unbelievable that now we lose another car for Knoxville , the sprint car super bowl , I know he really wanted to race at Knoxville badly .Maybe its time we backup and scrap these weight rules and think more about safety instead of speed alone as a way to promote sprint car racing . Good to all the McCarl FAMILY in racing and in life .

Thanks again everyone for all the kind words and e-mails.
Terry and I watched Knoxville last night from his hospital bed and we were very proud of Austin, he had a solid 2nd to Sammy last night then broke a rear end coming for the checkered.
Terry had another surgery this morning and they did close one side of his leg, but had to keep the other side open. There is still too much swelling to close it. Tuesday they will try again, if all goes well he can come home Wednesday. Everyone cross your fingers. I need to get him home.
Terry was all ready for the Nationals, we are very sad that he will not be racing in the 50th Knoxville Nationals. He will be there supporting Austin.
It was nice to hear that Wayne was at the track last night watching.
Thanks everyone,
Lori

Please keep T-mac in your thoughts and prayers. He is currently in surgery for a broken Fibula and Tibia. This happened when something came through the side panel while racing with the All-Stars at Husets speedway!

He will come back even more hungry this time, you have our prayers Terry.

I can't imagine a sprint car racer stuck in a hospital bed. Poor wife and nurses.

Billy Wilburn knocked unconscious with throttle stuck wide open. Fortunately the car stayed on the track doing 360 after 360 after 360. A wild and scary scene. Someone else could have gotten very hurt also. Get well Terry.
Adding $6 trillion of debt in his 1st term and now if
elected again he wouldn't have to worry about an
electorate in 2016 so the sky is the limit. And his EPA
would continue to put the screws to oil drilling and
mining for coal. Can you say bankruptcy.

Terry, Lori,
Praying for a speedy and healthy recovery. Hate not seeing TMAC on the track as he is part of the reason for my LOVE of sprint car racing!
Thanks

Thats why when someone crashes or stops on the track, I DON'T CARE who it is, your least favorite driver or NOT, YOU DON'T cheer!! Thats total bullshit!!!! Stuff like this happens and people are up cheering, go to a NASCAR race if you ain't any e'fin smarter than that and hang out with the other morons.....
|
Mr. Hancock I couldn’t agree with you more I posted a topic last year on SCRAFAN about what I call Gore hounds people that cheer and run down to the fence to see after a crash Those people make me sick and very angry and there have been many times that I have gone up to these idiots and let them have it and I’m a big mean dude when forced I closed out my topic with this statement “ The next time I see anyone cheering for a crash or running down to the fence to have a look you will have to deal with me” If you need assistance let me know and I will come and help you out

Terry and I would like to send a special thank you to the Husets Speedway safety crew. They were wonderful! I can not thank them enough for taking such good care of Terry. They are all very dedicated professional people and I was confident he was in good hands. They make the trip down to Oskaloosa and work the Front Row and Ultimate Challenge for us every year, because as promoters we want the best. I would like to thank the staff at Avera McKennan also, they have treated us great.
Terry is having surgery in the morning to close his leg, it's possible they will need to use skin graphs, but we are hoping they will not. Either way I'm sure we will be heading home Wednesday.
All the well wishes are so appreciated.
Thanks to everyone who sent an e-mail, we are getting them.
See you all Monday at osky

This was the previous Friday at Elko. I'm the guy who was having a problem with my flash and had to ask Terry if he would mind posing for another victory lane photo. Get well soon Terry.

Just heard about Terry's accident at Husets when reading the 3-day All Star event results. Get well soon, your fans miss you, even the goofball crowd at Huset's probably misses you too. Don't think they mean any harm, you are just too good at what you do. Congrats on having a great "Terry Jr", (Austin), running strong.

After hearing about Terry's injury I had to look at my car to see if I thought a clod could come thru my side panel.I have an older car with aluminum side panels and after checking it out I don't think a clod would go thru them, not sure if a 22 bullet would at 50 yds..I see the photo of Terry's car on here today and it looks to have pretty minimal sized plastic or fiberglass side panels that could be easily penetrated.I bet Terry wishes he would have had the older stronger aluminum panels about now. This doesn't look to be a good place to save weight, hopefully these flimsy panels will soon dissapear.- Hope you have a speedy recovery Terry, best to you and your family.

Update; Terry had the surgery today and they did have to do the skin graph. But it all went well and he will be as good as new soon.
We are coming home tomorrow!!!
I am answering the office phone here in the hospital so if anyone still would like to get FRC or UC tickets in advance you can call 515-957-0020. I have set up shop in his room.
Thank you everyone for all the well wishes
See you all soon,
Lori

I think this is a great idea!! They could do it at Osky just before or after the drivers footrace and then have a rematch on Friday and Saturday nights at Kville. Winner of two out of three takes home the trophy.
Of course, TMac may not be moving too fast depending on where they took the skin for the graft from!
