46 wins prior to RIcky. 237 wins with Ricky and 26 post Ricky.
4 wins per year over the first 11 years or running with the outlaws. 97 was the first full year on the tour, but had 31 starts prior to going full time.
I think Ricky's resume speaks for itself. He was fast with Tyler prior to jumping down south to do the Nascar thing. He came back from cup and went to KKR in 2006 and left shortly after in the spring, which is when he went to Schatz. Other than Tyler he has never really been full time on the tour for an exteneded period of time with anyone other than Donny.
We see how fast Rico has been all year. I think the proof is in the pudding.
I know people will use the Ford excuse, but Donny couldn't even make the show(on his own merit) but one night at Port this week and Zeb Wise won with a TSR Ford under the hood.

Thanks for the numbers Bear. I knew that percentage wise the greater portion of his wins came with Ricky Warner as crew chief.

Interesting post. Back in the mid eighties Bobby had a two and three car team. Bob traveled in the 1a and Richard Lupo ran the 2a locally in PA. Steve Stambaugh ran the 3a locally for a year or two also. I'm pretty sure that might have helped Bob when he came back into town. I was going to post this in the Shark 1a thread but that has turned into a steaming heap.

72 WoO wins, 4 National Open wins, 1 Knoxville Nationals and 1 Kings Royal is a hall of fame career. And much better than Warners record without Schatz.

Lance to Zemco is a rumor, wonder if there is truth to it.

Whatever makes you sleep well at night.
Again, if Ricky spent 27years on the tour(15 without Schatz) I bet his record would be just fine. Considering he has run the full tour maybe 14 years( 2 with Walker) and 12 with Donny it's hard to compare his record because 85% of his WoO time was with Donny So of course the numbers wouldn't be comparable
Rico has more wins(6) on 43 starts vs Donny(4) on 65 starts this year at WoO events.
Schatz win % is 25% with Ricky and 6% without Ricky. Career win% of 11%
Sweet has a career win % of 10%.
Buy hey, Let's not let data cloud our judgment.
I'll take the Karl Kinser protege, Ricky Warner, the data supports it. ✌️

Shame that it just isn't enough to be thankful that there are many great drivers and many great crew chiefs and occasionally they get together to make a phenomenal team. Does everyone need to be ranked?
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

How many Crown Jewels has Rick Warner won without Schatz? Don has won at least 6 without Tricky Ricky. Also the "data" you are cherry picking (must be from Central Pa) points to Don's early years and past his prime years. The facts are that Don's career without Warner is hall of fame worthy, while Rick can point to a couple of wins with Madsen and one good year from Rico.

Tony parked it when he started getting more and more into drag racing around the time he got married a couple of years ago.

Good Luck ! I've asked a similar question except I asked about "big races" rather than "crown jewels". Same answer - crickets........
My eyes have seen the Donny/SCUBA combo win all 3 of sprint car racing's Crown Jewels. My ears heard "Heartbreak...... for Rico Abreu......." a lot this summer.

"We see how fast Rico has been all year. I think the proof is in the pudding"................are you seriously comparing Rico's 2023 to the dominance Schatz had in his prime? Laughable at best.
Schatz is in the twighlight of his career........period. Rico is in the prime of his career............period.

Couldn't agree more. Schatz was a generational talent in his prime. He's still pretty damned good past his prime. If Donny doesn't ever meet Ricky Warner, he still would have been a generational talent in his prime.

Just announced. Lance Dewease to run The Barry Shearer #12 in 2024, replacing Billy Dietrich who ran the car weekly at Williams Grove. The car just finished 4th at The Tuscoura 50 with Brent Shearer driving. They will run a 40 race schedule next season, similar to what Lance had been running in the 69K.

Of course you do. Why else would you be posting about it on the internet... unless it's just for attention.

Best way to put it. I think the crew chief definately does help but nothing can replace what the driver does. Father time has hit Schatz but I think he is probably doing better than what most will do when they hit his age. Not too many people will win a Knoxville Nationals and a Kings Royal past the prime of their careers but he did which speaks to his skill. He may not be the 30+ win, whose going to battle for 2nd behind him Donny Schatz but I would not sleep on him. I doubt we see him win a championship but as far as when money is on the line, I wouldn't count him out yet.

Wow, this is pretty cool if it comes to fruition. Kasey is done? Good to see this happen if the Shark Racing team goes to a single car team.
Will the Highlimit schedule look like an expanded ASCOC schedule?
