The chili bowl will miss larson, he should be there, I doubt highly if bell skips it. Remember he has the car he won his first chilli bowl sitting in his living room at home. So I think the chilli bowl is 1 race he won't miss.

Larson because of who he is is speaking for all sprint car teams. Many places pay poorly, do teams have choices ? Sure they do, but if you want to wheel a sprint car sometimes you have no choice. The chilli bowl is like no other race. Drivers want that trophy from the chilli bowl. That alone means more to many drivers than the money. Kid kyle sees firsthand how some struggle to keep there race car on track. In today's world some are struggling to make race to race because of rising costs across the board.

I see kyle's point he's trying to make. I like what he and sweet are doing for the racers. The big question is going to be what will the payback be throughout the field ? as you have 2 of the very best that will be running at the front.

I'm guessing nothing really changes until Tony Stewart takes the event over in the next few years.  Smoke seems to be ok with giving out money.

That ship may have sailed. Smoke seems to have washed his hands of it after some disagreements when he was in charge of track prep. And I don't really see the Hahns letting it out of the family considering how much money it makes them.

I think it would be funny if Emmett reduced the winners share by $1000 every time a driver publicly complained about it.

Run Badget Midget rules. I think those guys normally run for $300 to win, 10K would be monsterous.

So the Chilli Bowl has been getting close to 350 midgets the last few years. Here is a question.  After the Chilli Bowl where do all the cars go? Most outdoor midget races, including USAC & PowerI, struggle to get full fields at some of their races. So I am assuming 90% of the cars are only legal for the Chilli Bowl and sit in the garage 359 days a year. It is crazy.

Post of the year right there.

Or doubled the pit pass and say,  Now you're racing for 20k to win.

Not bad at all! 10 or 20 thousand for second & 1500 or 2,000 to start?

I don't see why anyone is complaining....

I think it would be funny if Emmett raised the purse every time he raised pit passes & admission tickets.....oh wait he's never done that in 30 years. I remember when the pit passes went up because of Covid restrictions. Then Covid restrictions left and you bet your ass the pit passes didn't come back down

C'mon Charles. I've met you at Waynesfield and I see your posts on IOW as well. You certainly aren't naive. Do you really believe that Hahn is not making serious $ with the Tulsa Shootout and CB? And yet here you are advocating for lowering the purse or doubling pit pass costs. You are being played by Hahn and his apologists. I guess you guys must have the ole Earl Baltes tshirt hanging in the closet saying "if I could only sell one more hot dog". In no way do I buy that it costs a million $ to rent that building. If it costs so much to rent, why does Hahn let it sit idle for an entire week between the Shootout and the CB? The track and stands are already built for the Shootout. Why pay an exorbitant amount for $ (supposedly) to rent it and have it sit idle for a week? If it looks like a duck.....

Huh? I bet if you rent a big building and put a dirt track down on the floor, you're going to pay rent on it until you've removed the dirt track and cleaned the place up. It's not like he's able to not rent it for that week.

I'm sorry glhayden, but you're wrong. You're underestimating the additional revenue streams to foot the bill as well. You can not like Larson and be in Emmett's corner, but it's assanine to think Kyle is wrong. THis event should pay 40-50K, and it should have years ago.

How old is Hahn? Maybe he is ready to retire with his billions and larson could take over the reigns? He could put sweet over track prep and set the payout how he sees fit.

And I'm sure it wouldn't miss a beat, and the payout would be better.

What? Good lord.... My point is, if he's complaining it costs so much to rent the place, why does he let it sit idle for a week in between events? Run the CB immediately after the TS and save a week's rent.

Don't agree with much you spout but this idea is fun. The chili Bowl was awesome before the young naskids got involved. It'll still be okay if the cool guys boycott.

Its interesting that these uber rich youngsters have a gripe with an old uber rich guy. Larson and Bell couldn't hold Lanny and Emmett's sweaty under garments as far as work ethic goes.

The majority of the "young naskids" were doing this before Nascar. Not sure what point you're even trying to make here?

Yeah, no work ethic from Larson that is running how many late model, midget, sprint car races in addition to Nascar. Add in his promoting of Chico, has a series coming and some other random races. What a slacker.

I imagine the week off is to give the workers a break.  I really don't care if Hahn makes a million or ten million.  The CB was there before Bell, Larson, Stewart and will be after they're gone,   They could work with him, do something to make it bigger whatever.  I just thought it petty to go to the press.

It will still be a great show with 300 and not 350 if that's what they're going to do.  Before there was a Mr. Turkey Night,  There was a Turkey night for decades.   I take away from no racers talent,  But without the events to win.  They're is no recognition.

Remember that Gateway Invitational that paid 20k for midgets.  Gone in two years.......

Silly goose. Look me up after larson and Bell have been around 50+ years  and we can measure their contributions to the sport vs.Lanny and Emmett. Driving a prepped race car is a bit different from running and working several tracks, or  special events, or a sanctioned series. How would your naskids make out if they had to maintain their own cars instead of someone else doing it for them?

Three rumors I have heard almost every year...

1)  Just alone the Tulsa Shootout revenue pays for the whole two weeks

2)  Hahn clears well over a million every year

3) Tony Stewart is going to buy out Hahn

I do see rumor 3 as the way for Hahn to make a graceful exit...
