I would not even consider it. I'm the primary caregiver for my 90-year-old father. If I catch the stuff, I would very likely transmit it to him. Even if I got through the disease, there is no way he would survive.
Many other people in situations similar to mine.

As I mentioned, a large part of the fan base myself included are over sixty and managing one or more health issues. Smokers are getting hit hard by this as we saw in Italy where smokers make up a large percentage of the population. If I was a 40 year old smoker I'd be just as concerned about avoiding this as I am at 68 managing my high blood pressure. There are other risk factors as well and it's hard to know who is going to get a mild case and who will require hospitalization. While I don't smoke or drink anymore and get out and walk three miles as often as I can and don't get sick very often I am still not going to make that bet that I could fight this off. I'm retired and my wife and I are hunkered down ordering everything online and only going out for necessities. I'm so confident that we won't be seeing any racing for the first half of this season that I ordered another electric guitar with the money I had set aside for racing. I'll start setting some aside for later this summer and hopefully there will still be some races and street rod events this year.

Stan,
I also read this morning that areas high in obesity in the United States were being hit 7-10 times harder with hospitalizations and deaths.

The reality of the situation sets in when your doctor tells you that if you catch this your odds of survival are not good.

This will acually be the first weekend missed in Pa. The last two would have been cancelled because of weather. Time will tell where we go from here.

Define not good. Because even those effected the most (70+) the mortality rate is 15-20%. A really really high number to be certain, but it's also not a death sentence if you get it. It drops substantially more for that age group if you are in decent health.

My wife was told to not come in for her cancer treatment for six weeks(this could also speed up my wife's death) because if she gets Covid-19 it would most likely kill her in days. My wife has already used up 4 or maybe 5 of her 9 lives in the last 6 years. I've been by her bedside when the Doctor came in and told me that she might not make it the next 6 hours or through the night. That has happened three times and I can say that a little bit of me died each time I heard that. I hope to never hear that ever again, so we are doing what it takes with what we know to try to stay safe.

Not good is when he says "I don't believe you would survive the virus.".

Well, I'm not officially obese but I'm not skinny either so there's another reason to stay hunkered down.

I just got some inside information. Are ya'll ready for my insight on when racing will start? Racing will start when the green flag drops. This event will coincide with the bullshit stopping. You're welcome, I was happy to share my progosticstion.

I agree Stan. I mean its obvious the first race will start with the first green flag. But aside from the technically obvious its really the 2nd part I agree with more. When the BS stops life may return to a somewhat normal pattern. The BS?? I know you American race fans have gross numbers compared to Canada and I am sorry for that. Hopefuly no one here is directly affected by this BS. When i tefer to the BS i mean stop treating the symptoms and eliminate the source of the symptoms. But that won't happen.
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

The bullshit will stop when the big pharma drug cartel is able to develop the most expensive vaccine/drug money can buy so they can line their pockets and maybe finally be able to get that 14th yacht they've always been dreaming of. Until then, we're fucked. People will die, promising treatments will be censored as best as possible & we'll sit around while our lives pass us by. Hope all the people here are able to stay safe and to the fella who's wife is battling cancer: my prayers are with you sir. No one should have to go through that and I hope you and her are able to weather this storm like champs.

How does the vaccination thing work in the US? Can you get vaccinated for regular things free or do you have to pay? I would think this vaccination will be free if they find one but i mean on a regular seasonal flu shot etc.

FiXXXEr is a little over the top there. Vaccinations are not that expensive in the US. Not USUALLY free, but who knows in this case. I think a normal flu vaccination, even the swine flu vaccination that was developed in "record time" was only $20 or $25.

I was moreso talking about the drug. They love those expensive pills. I know people involved with industry. All they are is legal drug dealers.

Gotcha. Not going to disagree with you there. How about the $80,000 per month hepatitis C drug they have out? Harvoni I think it is? A friend of mine has his daughter on a Cystic Fybrosis drug at $30,000 per month---for the rest of her life. His wife went through med school but can't work as a doctor because she'll make too much and they will lose the drug benefit for their daughter which would bankrupt them. How backwards is this country sometimes? So, she works part time and he works at Home Depot so they don't make enough so the drugs are free.
On the other hand, vaccines have been very reasonably priced.

Hoping for positive thread? When do you think we will see racing again.
I'm thinking May 1st for PA tracks All-stars at Lernville
May 8th for WOO at Eldora
|
Sorry DirtKing9 but your thread only stayed positive for 1post before doom and gloom took over. I appreciate you trying to have a positive thread and I'm hoping to see some racing in May. BTW , the beautiful colors of Spring are everywhere enjoy them until we see some beautiful racecars.
Maybe the doom and gloomers should start a separate thread instead of hi-jacking every thread here. Hmmmmmm.

Makes my blood boil. And let's not even get started on opioids and other drugs that ruin lives. They don't give a shit. It's all about $$$$. What they do and what the dealers on the streets do is basically the same thing only the street guys will get thrown in jail for dealing some of the same shit that these "physicians" prescribe. I don't see why Covid-19 will be any different. They're gonna cash in on this one as well. They don't want a solution until it's one they can make billions of dollars on.

Absolutely no doubt that Big Pharma is in it for the money & some drugs are outrageously overpriced
But "promising treatments will be censored as best as possible"??? I don't think they're so evil as to intentionally cover up a drug that can save lives, especially when they can sell it for Big $$$, as you said

My guess is that racing will resume sometime between mid June and the first of July. If more people will buy into the stay at home movement, mid June might be the date.
