The track was junk but it made for two damn good races with tons of passing and side by side action. Now, I don't know about BStrawswer, track prep guru, but when I go to a race I want to see side by side racing and lots of passing. Well, there it was last night and seemed like pretty much everyone loved it, from fans to drivers. Imagine that.

I have to agree......I personally did not hear one single fan sitting around me that did not think both races were teriffic. But what do we know, we were just there as paying customers and not MONDAY Morning Quarterbacks on the internet.

Same here. Even the Dewease fans who were a little disappointed said it was a great race. Regardless of the winner, last night was well worth $22 as the late models also put on a good show!
The numerous comments (tweets) I saw on Twitter were all positive and I wasn't being selective.

Top 11 in time trials tonight at Selinsgrove were faster than the fast timer at the Port last night. And it is a bigger track than Port is.
There is also water down in the track.....something Port knows nothing about!!
Sprint cars should be on the verge of being out of control yet being in contol. You never get that at Port unless it rains on race day! They have terrible track prep!!
Let's go Sprint Car Racing!
Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

I just watched a video clip from the 22 cars in warmups at Selinsgrove and it already looks like a dust bowl, lol. So keep on championing every other track buddy, we'll continue enjoying damn good races at the Speed Palace, crap track or not. Here's to a BStrawser free summer at the Port. Bobo out.....

I can tell you this, no matter what anyone thought of the track conditions, speed or anything else, video could not do that race justice. No way could any video crew could capture all the action in that race. If you were not there you don't know half of what went on during that feature and those who were there didn't have enough eyes to see it all. This comes from a guy who was not thrilled with the surface and made the remark during hotlaps if that guy wins tonight I won't be back for anymore special shows this season.

Don't know what video you watched but I'm here right now and Selinsgrove is anything but a dust bowl. The track is a little choppy but damn fast. Gonna be an exciting feature.

I hated the track but it was a good race despite the shitty conditions. I left happy.

I'm right there with ya, my buddy and I said exactly the same thing. But the features turned out to be awesome with so much action you had to have your head on a swivel to see half of it.

Best race of the week just happened at Selinsgrove. Lucas and Dietrich ran neck and neck for the last 10 or 12 laps driving their asses off at extremely high speeds and Lucas eventually got out in front and took the win. Heimbach was right there in 3rd ready to pounce as well. Greg Hodnett edged Dietrich by only 2 points for the Speedweek title. If Dietrich had won, he'd have been the champion. What a week. Thanks to all the tracks for their hardwork and teams who showed up and gave us a show each night. Can't wait until next year.

Just caught the highlights on YouTube. That was a barnburner for sure, especially when you consider had Dietrich held off Wolfe, he would have held on for the Speedweek title. Damn good racing.
By the way, who was calling the race on the SpeedShift highlights? He was, um, how shall I say..... interesting.

I'm not sure who was calling the action but yeah, it was definitely interesting.

I’m not a Professional track preparation expert like some other people are LOL. But, the biggest issue I see at Port is not a lack of water, but the water being put on the surface of the track and not worked down into it properly. That being said, there were two entirely different types of surfaces this past week and two excellent races.

The “DeWease is cheating” theories always amuse me.
1. They have 3 HOF members in their pits, I would imagine there is a little knowledge there
2. 30-40 races is a lot different than 80-100....they usually show up with fresh stuff to almost every race...especially an event like speedweek. I would imagine that they would still win if racing a full schedule, but maybe not at the same rate

I was so disgusted at Port Royal Saturday night during warmups and heat races. At that moment I was mad that I spent $22 instead of staying home and saving my money. I mean how can a track be black in warmups. I'm not an expert but that's really missing the track prep in my opinion. Thank goodness for a nonstop feature and lapped traffic and our incredible PA drivers and teams for making it an entertaining race. Port did one thing right, and that was they worked water into the top side of the track during intermission to save the night.

Totally agree. Sometimes a good race breaks out even if the track is junk and thankfully, that's what happened Saturday. Good thing it went nonstop because I don't think it would've been good at all if not for lapped traffic. That said, I've seen a lot of garbage track surfaces over the years and usually it doesn't happen that way. We got lucky Saturday.

Sorry about that. My apologies. Hey Strawser, Port is the bestest track ever! There, that should get the hornets nest stirred up again. LOL.
