I just have to say.....and this is nothing personal against this announcer person.....but...
If the person you are talking about is the person who narrarates the races as they unfold.....the loudmouth, obnoxious sounding announcer who always uses higher volume and over exaggeration in an effort to make the racing more exciting to the fans.....I hope that this person stays with the Outlaws. I mean, I have had enough of him, and that is just watching the race highlight videos on Youtube! I have to turn the sound off....
I am sorry if I offend anyone, I don't mean to be offensive.....but this is my honest opinion of this person's style, which I find annoying. Probably one of the nicest people you would ever meet I am sure...just not my kind of announcer...

No nerf bars... Happy to hear im not the only one w/those thoughts... Needs to tone down the seriousness some... I thought he was kind of an ass to Bobby Gerald when listening last week on dirtvision... And like you said im sure hes a super great guy in person...
And yes the intro to the feature is like nails on the chalk board to me as well, its getting old, REAL OLD..

Speaking of a circus. Go to a supercross or monster truck show. Maybe this is why they pack the stands and we struggle. Back in the day we were exciting and a thrill. Keep the fun.

Last year at one of the fan forums at Knoxville, Clauson and Bacon went on and on about how in 410 winged racing, the events just seem bigger. There is more excitement, etc...
Gibson is huge part of making every Outlaw race seem like an event. That and he's not fake. He truly loves sprint car racing and is one of the most knowldgable people about the sport.

I couldn't agree more. By far the best in the business. Hopefully he stays with the Outlaws, he is one of the Outlaws! Go JG!

I am with no nerf bars and NICK88. I am more of a Dave Rieff or Scott Delasio kind of guy, versus got their hand caught in the fan kind of guy.

Yup, as much of a (deserving) legend that he was, I did not like Chris Economaki;s announcing either. Johnny is of the same style but I don't mind him one bit. One thing for sure, if you hear his voice you know that you were watching a WoO race without even having to look at the cars.

I hope whatever JG does in the future earns him a good secure living...it cannot be easy living on the road no matter what your duties are these days.

This is just my opinion but I am very tired of listening to the same old stuff at WoO events and think they need a change. He may know his stuff but really most of the fans there know there stuff about the guys on the outlaw tour. I would like to see him interview some of the smaller/local guys supporting the outlaw shows and here some background and info from them. Also I tried to say hello to him very early in the afternoon before a race and he gave me the cold shoulder, seemed very, very arrogant. I thought this was very unprofessional considering the fans are basically paying for his career. My 2 cents.

I wouldn't mind if he did go ... That A-Main intro is like nails on a chalk board. It is just me, or does everything he say sound like it was pre-recorded or at least well rehearsed?
Some of these guys sould like they are with the circus or an auctioneer and everything they say is canned, just give me someone that talks normal and clearly ... this isn't the WWE.

Nothing against Johnny or any other announcer but that over the top WWE style grates on me as well. Fortunately I spend most of my race nights in the infield wearing ear plugs so I seldom can hear the announcers. This is another reason I'll never go back to sitting in the stands is the over the top announcing that seems to be in vogue these days. When I'm too old to get around on my feet anymore I'll sit home and admire my photo collection.

Gibson is one of the best announcers out there. He is fast and clear and keeps it simple weather you are in the stands or on the computor he makes it exciting and when there is nothing going on he plays adds or some music good enough. When it is time he builds the level up. As for interviews he isn't a full crew or production staff, just a announcer doing his good over the PA and if you aren't able to be there he makes you feel like you are through the computor. Not everybody wants pit reporting and complicated shows keep it simple and make it like fun.

Im not going to knock him as usually I don't have a problem, But I think it was the year before Larson won all three USAC features that he did the WoO at eldora the night before and the freaking PA was so loud you couldn't hear the cars. I went up and sat in turn three just to get away from it.
I also say its getting old. Listening to him on audio is like a great play by play and I like that as long as Im not watching the times which are always ahead of the broadcast for some reason by a lap. Thing is, At the track, I don't want play by play. I want lineups and running order between races and during yellow and nothing but Motors and Madness when the races is green.
I've never been a over the top announcer and buffer music type of race fan. The kids love it, But it gets old. Real Old. Its so 90s its rediculous.

gee it is awful nice of you to offer to put someone to work on their day off for the price of a race track burger and beer.
maybe i could get you to work for me on your day off for a little food and drink.
ok now that i have put up the sarcastic smart ass comment let me clarify that all i am saying is it might be nice to offer him an open invitation to visit your track as a guest of the management with no strings attached. being the race fan that he is i am sure he would like that. i would guess he would also enjoy a supply of those bugers and beer while he was there.

"Haters are gonna hate."
Johnny is the best in the biz and I hope he doesn't take any of the responses from the clowns to heart. Obviously it's just a rumor but if true there is a reason why Smoke wants the best to represent his series.
Every sport has "that person" to represent that sport and Johnny is the voice of sprint car racing. The dude hasn't missed an Outlaw race in like 17 years. The Outlaws would not be the same without him.

My favorite announcer was and always will be Jack Miller. Jack had a style that made you feel he was talking just to you. On top of that, he was a really great guy. Really miss him. RIP Jack.

Your earlier post:
"Forgive me for pointing out your screen name of Justhefacts And then posting a rumor"
That was kind of funny!
Forgive me for pointing out that you begin with "Im not going to knock him" and then do.

If it was not true... Johnny would have came on here to stop the rumor when it first started. The show must go on, so I say the KWS announcer Gary Thomas will do a great Job as a replacement if given the chance.

Hey Denny White, you want something special, how about a round of golf with Jack and Johnny in your foursome along with Dave Reiff. I had that pleasure a couple of times in the All-Star tourney in Florida during Speed Weeks, most fun I've ever had on the golf course. Jack Miller's voice is an all time Classic, likely my favorite ever.....

We have an announcer by the name of Chris Stepan up here that's pretty good. He's also the promoter of the Granite City Speeway where the World of Outlaws Sprints will be making their first ever appearance on Tuesday June 9th. Neat little bullring that has been upgraded to a top notch facility since it's former days as the Golden Spike Speedway.
