I'm not sure what the actual purse is for the 305's at Knoxville but it pays $400 to win. I know 3rd pays $250, 5th is $175, and 6th is $150. Last year, Cappy increased the payout a little bit for the show based upon the 305 car count. There was an A and B feature for the 305's.

Pinksprinter6 come on man. Why are you knocking someone for wanting to race and get seat time at Knoxville without me sounding like a ass this site has enough negative stuff. Lets keep it positive.

I probably wouldn't be complaining as much but this is a points race for the 305's and it is one of the few shows we had because of all the rain. It just doesn't make since that it is a point race for the 305's if they are going to use this class to help with the running of the Mr. Sprintcar standings.

Forget the points Mitchell, nobody is gonna remember you having beaten 3 high school kids for the points, but all of the non wing fans in the stands will remember you beating the defending Non Wing Nationals champ in a thrilling race. You can do it, go for the "W"...

Actually some of us who run weekly 305's feel that it is pretty cool to get to race with the more experienced drivers. You are only as fast as the fastest guy on the track, unless you are him, or her. So for some of us it makes for a great learning experience. Now, that having been said, I can completely see how this situation and ones like it could be irritating for weekly racers. One position, give or take, in a weekly point structure could win or loose you a title. Also, many of the lower budget teams could use the extra pay out for a spot that may otherwise be taken by a non-points racer. So this show probably should not count for a points program. The only thing that rubs me the wrong way is when the experienced drivers come down a class or two and then get upset that the beginners in the class are "in the way", or "causing problems" as they are trying to learn how to drive. We have not seen that yet, as far as I know, with the sprinters but it happened allot in other forms of racing.

This is directed to all the jackoffs that want to bash Bud for something that all competitive racers do. Cherry picking? Ruining your class? Your argument sounds like you had nothing else to bitch about on here and this was the only target you could find. Give it a rest. What is he guilty of? Wanting to simply run a different class in the same night? So what is the difference if he is in the seat of another car or sitting in the hauler waiting for his class to be up again in between rounds? Is Tony Stewart guilty of ruining 410's since he just won in ontario and he is a big time nascar racer and has millions of dollars?? Is Sammy guilty of ruining chili bowl for going and racing midgets and winning as many times as he does? Does your Grandma get kicked out of the bingo hall because she won the last three times and is no longer in the amateur ranks? Lots of questions? I hope you use your head for something other than a hat rack and think before you make such an idiotic statement next time. See, if you actually knew Bud you would know that he is like every other quality racer out there, he likes to compete. And you would also know that he has raced everything from micros to the bombers (he did that in between the heats and the main the same nights he raced sprints). Is he ruining the bomber class to? Or you might have known that he has traveled to new mexico to race the 305's down there when nothing was going on around home. It's interesting that the name Jesse Hockett came up. Would anyone have knocked him for wanting a ride in the 305's? NO they wouldn't have. Let me tell you why. He was the type of guy that could get into anything and make it go. He had god given talent. I wouldn't stop short of saying that at times he was a hired gun. Why? Once again he was a badass racecar driver, he simply wanted to race. Guys like him don't care what they are in as long as they can race. Thats where Bud and him are alike, they both shared the same love of racing whatever they could get there hands on. As for the cherry picking, last place at a local fair destruction derby probably pays more than your blockbuster main event, so I will guarantee that he's not running the 305's for the prize money.....
