It got me good cause although I'm not from Pennsyltucky (but its the closest good racing for me), i'm a Posse fan, born in NYC & have lived in a trailer park in the past.....

& sometimes I post from my mom's basement... wink

(She's 96 & I've been taking care of her)

He could say boggity boggity boggity lets go racing boys which according to Websters Dictionary doesnt appear to be a word unless it is a form of boggle which means to confuse.Johnnie is passionate, knowledgeable, and has his own style. This time of year the Hosehead Forum doesnt have much to offer in terms of racing news or comments.

It's what WRG wants to hear. So be it. It's a hole heck of a lot better than Ole DW and Mikey.  At least DW goes back to his cave and drinks his mash. Mikey, last I knew, got on his boat at lake Norman and chases girls all day saying, hey I'm Mikey Waltrip. It's all about me.

Just wish we could hear him clear on "racing radios" like at a Nascar race, can imagine how great that would be, but the loss of some of the engine noise would be odd.  No one could replace him IMO. The "you wanted the best", etc, is still fine with me.  Most people only hear it once, maybe twice a year so they would definitely miss it.  The 4-wide salute to fans is still one of the greatest spectacles in motorsports.

I only hear it at Devils Bowl and Knoxville and I wouldn't miss it.   At least one of the guys I go to the races with wouldn't either.    That being said though, it doesn't take away from the fact that he's a very good and passionate announcer.    The whole deal only lasts just a short ten seconds or so, so it isn't that big of a deal either way.

Not much difference than the brothers that do the intro to boxing and UFC.Lets Get Ready to Rumble and Its Showtime are trademarks for the events and they dont have to announce but I would hate to guess what their voices cost!Probably more than winning several WOO features per night and more than Johnny makes in a year.

Gibson is the voice of the Outlaws and can't think of them without him. Pick something better to bitch about.

Sometimes I put my ear plugs in for the announcer and take them out for the race.

JG is the best in the business.  Nobody works harder to bring a broadcast to life.  He somehow manages to get every team's sponsor mentioned on every broadcast.  The OP is a complete moron (troll), obviously.  I'd say Chet and Blake are really good too, but as far as the Voice of the Outlaws goes, JG is iconic.  His play by play calls are the perfect mix of information needed to ensure what is on-screen mixed with what is not currently on-screen is being transmitted to the listner/watcher.  There is no equal.

Thanx,
Bruce

I guess even the Beatles, Elvis, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin had their haters too. I find Johnny to be one of the best & knowledgeable announcers around. Also like Blake Anderson & Tony Bockhoven.

Darrell Waltrip doesn't say boggity boggity boggity, so JG could say boggity boggity boggity if he wanted to.   Of course DW has the boogity saying copyrighted or so I've heard, and I'm not sure if boggity would violate that or not.   I doubt boogity is a word either, but I'm assuming he means it as a form of boogie.

JG is always prepared and does a spot on job at every race. He always makes sure he knows the local racers who support the Outlaws wherever they go. I like his genuine passion regardless of the tone of his voice... I am sure if you took a poll for or against, JG would fare pretty well so even though I disagree with the original post the dude has a right to his opinion. JG is probably enjoying this thread and even though he is a Steeler fan he is the best in the biz!!

If he's a Steeler fan he is probably a Penguins fan too. That ain't so bad.

Thumbs up for JG from Canada. ( even tho I don't really live here).

Edited to correct a spelling mistake approx 1 minute after the original post. Sorry.

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Driving him from work the other night and listening to JG in the DirtVision call... and though how glad I am he is doing it.  He is best of of all clear and informative, giving the lineups, how many transfer, how many to dash etc.  Your fantastic at your job Mr Gibson

Johnny Gibson does a great job in my opinion. He knows the drivers/sponsors, the rules/procedures, the drivers stats, the non-WoO drivers and has a great knowledge and history of the sport. I enjoy hearing his tag line live at the race track as much as I do online. Just because you've heard him announce a race before, doesn't mean that everyone has. Anytime the WoO race anywhere, there are people witnessing their first WoO race and possibly their first ever sprint car race and enjoy the buildup during the 4 wide salute.

I find him a little annoying as well, not personally, but his voice and his broadcasting. So shoot me. He is very knowledgeable and professional though, and seems like a good guy. I just turn off the volume when I watch a live broadcast or youtube highlights. lol

he knows his racing...but I can understand how people get tired of some things that are over the top.

What a waste of a first post. I enjoy JG and his commentary. I don't think he's ever claimed to be the best, but I would certainly put him up there with those who've I listened too in person and online over the years.

I'm sure you're willing to step up to the plate and make things better.

I love Hendrix & the Beatles

Zep had some good songs but IMHO, they were the beginning of the end for true rock'n roll. Took out the "roll" & turned it into "rock", heavy & mechanical, undanceable. Most of the bands that tried to copy them were pretty crappy

Don't know if you're old enough to recall American Bandstand....classic reply when Dick Clark would ask a kid to rate a song: "Its got a good beat, you can dance to it. I give it an 85"
