You have so many teams out there traveling today because of incentive money. Point funds, tow money, and a overall better paying purse. The all stars, i think right know, is the better deal. Less miles traveled. As for the better show ? If the track is good, your going to see a good race no matter which is choosen.
I think the only 2 area's that keep teams local to a particular track are eastern pa and knoxville, espicially 410 teams.

Love to see the younger guys running, but man Haudenshild, Blaney, Kemenah, Saldana and McMahan (no O) are going to be quite hard to beat all year.

Kemenah is still the team to beat because of their recent success and experience at the tracks they'll be at, but yes Saldana and McMahan and others provide some quality veteran talent. Don't sleep on Carson Macedo. My pick for ROY and a sort of "darkhorse" Top 3 in points team.

Aaron Reutzel has a shot to win it all. I saw him whip several of those guys in 410s at Cocopah....

All Stars for me because they provide a better full night of racing. All Star heats put the WoO heats to shame when it comes to the racing nearly every time. Until the WoO do something with their heat format the only reason to go to a WoO show is for the A Main. At least during the Nationals, because it isn't the WoO format, the Outlaw drivers have to drive their way to the top spots. At least there they earn what they get. The WoO format isn't indicitive of good racing, it's slanted towards their drivers.
|
All stars hands down.
I like the format much more than than the WoO. The WoO puts way too much emphasis on time trials and the heats are little more than a glorified hot lap session. The ASCoC format makes the racer race and puts a more fan friendly show together from start to finish.
There is no replacement for cubic displacement

This is clearly the strongest feild assembled add Dale for Ohio races plus Cole Duncan and the Ohio races should be great.
And in Pa. add Dewease ,Hodnett ,Deitrich and Wolfe plus Port regulars cant wait for the Kauffman race the first trip in for the All Stars.

I've been meaning to ask.....Are you related to the Strawser that did racing videos in PA back in the 70's-'80's? I've seen several on YouTube and have enjoyed some of them several times. Have even shown them to friends. We have YouTube access on our big screen TV.

I prefer Allstars format too, but more interested in WoO teams & drivers, especially vs. the Posse.
It really comes down to the track. Allstars at Attica last summer was one of my favorite races all year, 2 Allstar races in upstate NY were snoozers

Haha. I scrolled thru all 22 slides looking for the sprint car winning streak and found nothing. Interesting for sure but I was really expecting Kinser to be listed somewhere...you know cause this is a spront car forum.
111 games is remarkable.
|
Kinser:
20 WoO championships, 11 in a row (1983-1994)
1987: 46 wins, including 12 in a row. (more with prelims added?)
12 Knoxville Nationals wins.
Knoxville Nationals wins in a row: Kinser 5: 1991-1995. Schatz 5: 2011-2015.
All Stars vs. PA Posse:
0-31. 1970-present.
They don't even know how to spell sprint car
much less chromoly...http://www.ycmco.com

Is Posse undefeated vs. Allstars everywhere, or just at the Grove?

Not even a decision to make for me - All Stars. I wouldn't walk across the street to see the Outlaws. With the list of drivers above, and the others not following the entire tour, you have probably at least 12 - 15 guys who can win on any given night. You can't say that for the Outlaws. Their format is better IMO as well. Just a far better show overall.
I'll bet before the season is over, Tim Shaffer and the 49 is back with the All Stars too.
Can't wait for next Friday at Atomic!
|
I have no problem with someone who prefers an ASCoC event over a WoO event... I agree the format is better, car counts are usually higher, and some fans just like local competition. Yes, Schatz is going to win a lot of WoO races but theres still 10+ WoO regulars at every race that have the ability to win. These guys are the best in the world. To say you wouldn't walk across the street to see them is just stupid. Watch highlights from Bakersfield and Tulare, awesome racing throughout the field in the heats and features.

So you're saying no All Star member has ever won a race that a posse member raced in and there has only been 31 races where both an All Star member and posse member have both raced in nearly 50 years? Now I understand why you are given so much credibility and respect....

What are you talking about??? You have to finish 1st or 2nd in your heat to make the dash at a WoO show. Same goes for a ASCoC show except they also take the top 2 qualifers who didnt finish 1st or 2nd in the heats. If anything qualifying is more important in ASCoC because you can earn a spot in the dash. On the other hand, similar heat/dash/dash-redraw format makes WoO drivers race equally as hard trying to earn a spot in the dash.
The biggest thing that makes the ASCoC format better is the fairness (track variation). They only qualify against the cars in their respective heats (usually 8-10 cars) rather than against the whole field. Less track variation makes it more fair, but still equally important to earn a top 4 starting spot in your heat.

Man you are so spot-on right! Say what you want about format or whatever. The WoO guys ae the best. Hands down and anyone who actually drives these cars feel this way too. These guys go to every part of the country and win. When the Allstars travel and get beat up on. When is the last time a Possee regular left home and won a race? When the Outlaws and Allstars race together, other than Kenenah at Eldora, they dont even compete. I am really excited to see the All Stars this year. Great schedule. Great drivers. Maybe this is the year tat they win when they travel. But, are they the Outlaws? Common man.
