Possibly an 11 pm final checkered flag...

If were asking for things that will never happen at Jackson lets ask for a final checkered flag between 10-10:30 pm.

Jackson is too far from home when the checkered flag drops after 11 pm.

I know I'm turning into an old fart but I really don't like being at a race track much past 10 pm anymore, especially when I have kids with me.

Doug, your PPV pricing is close to the Kings Royal, way out of line for a non-sanctioned show.  Having said that I will still likely buy it....It doesn't matter how many sprints are there, quality over quantity any day of the year, good luck, hope the show goes well, lots of good changes at your place....

Originally I had 10:30  in my post and changed it at the last minute, but were on the same page.  Smile

I'm pretty sure Speedshift sets the PPV price and not the track. Also I believe price is set slightly above gate admission to keep butts in the seats instead of on their couch. Still pretty cheap if you can't make it. Get 3-4 people together and all throw in $10.

Going to the Horse races instead, will likely cost me a wholelot more than $34.95 lol.  The Mrs. thinks that for the next two weekends I will be glued to the big screen watching 'stuff' from Knoxville, bingo, she's right....

Wish I could be there in person but Speedshft will do. Although, $35 is a little spendy for a 'regular' friday night show. (The part that really boggles my mind is if you want to watch the replay on Speedshift, they still charge you $5 on top of the price you paid for the live showing. I think the replay should be included)

However, if I did go. $25 admission + $10 food/beverage - Cushy recliner  = Speedshift justification.

Last I checked it's their product and they get to set the price.  No different than any other business or service across America.

You as a consumer get to choose whether or not you'll pay that price.  No different than you get to choose with any other business or service across America.

What you may consider too much for someone else is just right and for others may seem cheap.

For me, this would be cheap as it would cost me $50 in gasoline to drive up and back, a night at a hotel room ($135), meals (supper on the road, track food and breakfast in the AM).

It all depends on your perspective as to whether it's too much or not.

People get all up in arms when tracks close the gates forever but don't think about the fact that for every one of these PPV that are purchased that probably means 3-5 less butts in seats at the actual track.  The track needs the butts in the seats to survive and IMO, PPV should ALWAYS cost more than a ticket to the event.

If I lived near Jackson I might say it's too much because it's cheaper to attend in person, but at the same time, if I lived that close I wouldn't even think about not attending in person.

In reality, however, outside of dirt track racing seemingly 99% of PPV events are cheaper than the tickets to get into them.

I only make it back to MN/IA 3 times a year so I just purchased the $59.00 (per year) replay package from speedshift.  Best money I've ever spent.  The replays are usually up the next day with the full show, not condensed in anyway.  I plan on watching tonight's race tomorrow night.  The only hard part is staying off social Media until I've watched it so it doesn't spoil who wins.

Supply and Demand for live tickets.  Demand dictates ticket prices based on how much supply there is (if you have a 5000 seat venue in the middle of NYC to see Paul McCartny play the tickets are gonna cost exorbinately more than to see him play in a 20,000 seat venue in Knoxville, Iowa.   That is just a fact that will never change.   That's why you see a lot of big acts skip small states and cities when they tour.  They can't make enough $$$$ in those cities because the demand for tickets is so much less.

Most PPV events are things like Boxing, Wrestling and MMA.   When Demand for tickets increase, they keep increasing the prices of those tickets.  NASCAR used to have this going on back in their heyday.  Now you can buy a ticket to the Bristol night race when tehy take the green flag.

If those events were at 50% capacity (like most dirt track events), their tickets to get in would be much cheaper.  NASCAR is already going in this direction, problem is they didn't realize they were losing fans until it was too late and now they are scrambling to figure out ways to put butts in the seats.

We do not. We have two price points most tracks agree to but occasionally there are specials where the track feels a higher price point is warranted.

Or if you go with 4 of your friends it would be $26 to get in, each.

Four friends? Have you seen the way people talk to eachother on here? Maybe four enemies can call for a keyboard cease-fire to save a few bucks. LOL

On a more serious note though, That is a good payout and if people won't go due to the $5 parking they should think about all the race tracks we don't have anymore. A large part of the tracks most of us miss are/were on Fairgrounds, if the $5 parking makes the fair board happy give them their 5

I think you have a point there... It's been a while since I've been to Jackson but I'm pretty sure you could park off the fairground property and walk a mile to save $5 if you really wanted to. Honestly, people on this board want to have their cake and eat it too. They expect $10 tickets, $2 beers and the field to pay out through 20th, it's not enough to have a large amount for first place. The problem is that is not reality. I don't know if we expect track owners to work for free or something but I'm pretty sure most are not getting rich. The amount of negativity on this board is really disheartening. If you like sprint car racing you should thank the owners, drivers, promoters and sponsors for everything they do. I don't think that happens nearly enough around here.
