Not a betting man. I think that what you have now is so many guys have gone 360 racing that the field is going to be small. It's just a number guys. I don't really care how many cars they get, come Saturday night there is only a few that are going to be the favorites. So if they get 100, just how many do you think really have a shot at winning Saturday night. 10%, maybe ? I hope I'm wrong. I would love to see one of the underdogs win it. Shatz is the favorite, Brian brown has zero luck at the nats. Because of the way they run the show at knoxville it's the best sprint car show of the year. By the way, I meant to say 80 cars but I did type 60 so I'll stick with that number but I no there going to draw more than that.

I'm sure they'll get to 100. I'm slightly concerned the Mansfield show will keep a few Ohio guys from coming. But not too many.

100 you are joking right. I'm not sure what the car count was last year, but at 47 right now and the entry fee going up another 50 I don't think your going to see 60 cars unless they have a large numbers of entries that come in tomorrow
|
Not joking at all. They get around 100 every year... look it up

The Ohio guys that would've came to the Nats will still be there, but the locals who don't typically come anyways now have a big race of their own so I'm happy for them. I believe the only NW Ohio locals that went last year was Dean Jacobs and Byron Reed.

Just a guess, but his dad drove 83, could just be a tribute paint scheme in the 59 car
|
Ding Ding ding!! We have a winner!!
Justin also drove the 83 his father Rod raced for the first few years in IMCA, 360 and 410 competition.

Hell I'd almost even spot him another 20 since there's "no way" we will hit 100. But let's just stick with 80 to be sure he deletes his worthless account.

Surprised to see Chad Trout and Tyler Bear.
|
Chad won't be at Knoxville. Since the unexpected passing of his car owner in May, Jim Walker, they have condensed their schedule to Lincoln only. Kyle Reinhardt will be there in a second VanderEcken car in addition to the aforementioned TBear.

Not getting 60 cars?, now it's .... not getting 80 entries 2 days later, from the same poster. Do I hear 90, now 95 and half, do I hear 100.

Not to question you on this, but Trout is on the pre-entry list. Did they enter before he died because that was awhile ago now?

Brian Brown has zero luck at the Nat's? I wouldn't consider taking runner up 2 years in a row at this event having "zero luck." About 90 other racers would love to have Brian Brown's lack of luck at the Nationals...

I was wondering the same thing, the entry list had no one on it until mid-June

Seems to me, any driver or owner that doesn't attend the biggest sprint car race in the world because of $50 might not be a contender anyway?

Probably more like a $100,000 after you add up the Qualification night & Friday purse

Thirteen, I think he had them covered. He should have won both of those races. I call it bad luck that he didn't win. Anybody that wins at the nats will tell you, you need some luck to go along with a good run.

Where does luck enter in? I saw both of those races. He just didn't quite have the speed. Its not a lottery.....that would be the 50/50

You're right.....luck had nothing to do with it. Three years in a row, Brown ran second to Schatz at the Nationals. Two of those years, Brown really had the opportunity to win, but a mistake really hurt his chances.
In 2012 It was obvious that Brown had what it took to get by Donny. Brian was definately stalking at the end. On the white flag lap, however, Brian missed the cushion on the white flag lap, gathered it in and made his move coming out of four, but came up half a car length short and Donny wins at the line.
In 2013 Brown lead pretty much the entire race, while Schatz steadily made his way to the front. I forget where he started. With about 10 to go, Schatz passed Brown and drove away for the win.
In 2014, Brown really had his best opportunity. Schatz led pretty much the entire race, while Brown moved up to get in to second to place. The last half Brown steadily stalked Donny....with Donny getting away, and then Brown reeling him back in. towards the latter stages, Brown was not only there, but right on Donny. Both were running seperate grooves, Donny low, Brian high, and it was obvious that Brown was the quicker of the two. The second Brown made his move I thought to myself "DAMN YOU PASSED HIM TOO EARLY"...(I have often wondered if Brian had thought that back in 2012 he waited too long?) it was lap 43.....Brown went around Donny coming out of two and led down the backstretch. Brown showed Schatz the faster line! Donny even said so in his interview. Anyway, Schatz immediately changed his line and on lap 45, Brown changed his line to "block" Donny, and Donny went around Brown and went on to win. Brown really made two critical errors that race. He passed Donny too early, then changed his own line thinking Donny was still running low.
That's how I remember those races. But....we know how memories can be....
