BMS had the best 410 car counts in years, multiple 30 plus nights, why in the hell would they go back to Sunday!
|
Because they could get 30 sprints running the FULL sized 410 motors every Sunday night instead of having a bunch of fillers running 87% of a 410.

cant believe we're going to get into this. But which 30 do you speak of? The ND guys never came before on Sunday's. Would they now?

The only thing that could be better is if Badlands went back to Sunday and there was a points system for drivers who run all three tracks and a bonus if a driver sweeps a weekend of racing. I think there would be more drivers at all three tracks.
|
Not really,
The only time you'll see 410's @ BMS on Sunday's now is if the Saturday night show gets rained out.

So they can get enough butts in the seats to pay for it.... Agreed, a step in the right direction. (Hopefully that throw back night at the end of the year with 410s 360s and a body class on a Sunday night, hopefully the place is full that night.)

Where are 30 410s going to come from on Sunday nights? The No Dak won't be there and the Knoxville cars won't show because they are not known for travelling, so where are the cars going to come from?

Of course moving back to Sunday is out of the question. But other than the Silver Shootout and the WoO show, only three nights brought in 30 or more sprinters for the 410 nights at Badlands. After the WoO show July 2nd there wasn't a 30 car field the remaining 8 weeks of the season including the Gold Cup. Knoxville and Jackson had similar situations other than their big shows. Not sure what it's going to take to increase 410 car counts for all three tracks. Maybe it simply isn't going to happen. Will have to wait to see what 2017 actually brings. Hopefully it will be success for all three tracks!

Time. It is just going to take time. No professional racer is going to pack up his family or his shop and move to the midwest because of one big year. The need to see consistency. Pennsylvania and Ohio didn't become sprint car hotbeds over night. They established a reputation.
Maybe only having 20-25 cars per class each night at Knoxville isn't a bad thing. It was nice to see Tatnell, Selvage, Tasker, Moeller, and Dollansky have some of their most successful seasons yet. It was also nice to see races getting over by 10pm on a consistent basis. This is key to attracting more people from the Des Moines area who have a 40-60 minute drive home.

totally agree Austin.
What is the #1 issue facing most racetracks? Answer: Lack of attendance
How do you combat that? Start on time, and get over at a decent time (a weekly show at ANY racetrack shouldn't last more than 3 hours if they want to get casual fans through the gate.
Take a look at the competition for the entertainment $$ (contrary to popular belief, racetracks aren't competing against each other as much as they are competing against other forms of entertainment. Concerts, Arena Football, Hockey, Basketball, Casinos, Youth Sports, Movies, etc., etc.). Racetracks need to compete with these entities (from both an entertainment standpoint and a time standpoint).
Looking forward to the 2017 season, the changes I've seen over the past year has been very positive.

I agree also, the older I get the sooner I like to get home. I don't need to see a "B" feature, usually a waste of time anyway unless its the nationals or WoO. For the teams it is nice to know you will make the "A" and don't have to worry about getting thru the "B". Also nice to see some of you are accepting Knoxville and Badlands running the same night. One thing I would like to see is maybe twice a year have is Jackson Friday, Knoxville Saturday and Badlands Sunday and some type of small point fund funded by Big Game, Badlands Pawn and a third party from Knoxville area. Memorial Day or Labor Day weekend would be perfect. Motel deals, pit parties and driver and fan interaction.

This stinks for the keyboard commandos (what will we complain about now?), but great news for the sport. I am really glad common sense won out so quickly.
Interesting to see Jackson move the Nationals to Jun 1-3. Total speculation, but does this mean it could include a WoO sanction in 2017?
|
don't be so quick...the stupid could extend their expectations of "working together" to tracks 500 - 700 miles away from the corn fields of IA if you start talking like that.
Lincoln 1845 ft/.35 mile T1=118MPH
Eldora 2287 ft/.43mile T3=135MPH
Port 2716 ft/.51 mile T3=TBD
Grove 2792 ft/.53 mile T3=135MPH
Selinsgrove 2847 ft/.54 mile T1=136MPH

Jackson's website add for the 2017 Jackson Nationals has the WoO logo as part of it, so I would imagine so.

Our Vikings are 5-0 and now this? Better check to see if hell froze over.
|
Thats great! But, it took an Oklahoma Cherokee to make it happen. Never a fan of the Vikings before but they never had Bradford before. Just hope that front line can keep on keeping him safe.

Really????? Nygaard didn't come much more than twice a year the last 5 years or so. And obviously Im not putting dobmeier in the "North Dakota" category beings he's the only ND guy that's been coming on a regular basis for years. I was obviously referring to the NOSA guys etc... NOSA guys don't run 410's? Ohhhhhhh now I remember. You're the one who said that half of the silver shootout 46 car field was 360's LOL.

For someone who's all about this sport, you sure are quick to disrespect sprint car drivers and teams. SMH

Just to throw in a point of interest. The other night on Facebook I questioned this and wondered out loud what would be the benefit for Knoxville as it seemed to benefit the other two. I actually, within minutes, received a personal message from Tod to avoid all the negativity from trolls, and we had quite a conversation concerning this. He assured me that all three tracks were in agreement with this and asked me to give it time and we would see some great things happening at Knoxville and the other two tracks. He was most helpful and courteous and I respect him a lot. So, I would suggest to anyone wondering about anything concerning this, give it time and you will see the benefit.
My wife told me if I went to one more Sprint Car race
she would leave me.................I'm sure gonna miss
that ol' gal.

A little confused, other than BMS not running during the 360 nationals it is the same as last year other than some date changes.

This may be a true statement. I think what we have to look forward to is all three tracks are talking and that is a step in the right direction.
This is not directed at you but all of us on this board. Somehow lets try keep to it positive and not try to guess what is going to happen because it always ends in a 5 page rant of "he said" / "she said".
I liked it better when the midwest guys would fight with the PA guys!
