Super Chuck says there's lots of good feedback here already, but he'll pile on.
- Sprintcarfanatic is right. If you can, spring for a pit pass one night and stand down in the turns for hotlaps. It'll make the hair on your neck stand up. (good reminder to shave back of neck too)
- Make sure to keep an eye on Saldana and Haud, probably throw Madman in the mix there too. If you see the 71m scoping out the area ABOVE the cushion during a yellow...hold on to your hats folks.
- Not a bad view in the place, but follow the lead of those suggesting to cop a squat in a lawn chair. Turn four is nice, dirty but nice.
- Bubble goggles are a must. Saying you've been to Knoxville for 20 years is irrelevant to this type of dust my friend. Think dust bowl, only louder. We're talking dust that ends up in places you'd never imagine it could find . (reminder to bring baby wipes)
- And last but not least, stop by and see Stubby (assuming he's out on parole by then). Great guy and an even better wife. Even if he is a Buckeye fan.

Reading all of the posts I'm definitely jealous even though I am not a fan of winged sprint cars.
I've been to Eldora once many years ago for a World of Outlaws race. Sat in turn 4. For some reason there was no record of my reservation when we got there; however, that was a short-lived problem.
In my naivety I wondered why the concession stands had goggle for sale. That lasted only until the racing started as I soon realized how dry and dusty the track was. I definitely went back to where we were staying (on vacation from Arizona) in the Newark, OH area that night with dust in places that I didn't think it could possibly get.
I think the best way to describe the place is a "dirt Bristol."

Don't worry about a little dust. The track has been great this year.

I have been to every Kings Royal. Concessions are pretty plentifull anywhere you sit. Use the bypass walkways from turn 4 to get to the main grandstand and to turn1 and avoid the crowd right behind the main grandstand. I too highly recomend that you get a pitpass at the 4th turn gate and go down around 5:30 when they fire the motors, then go over by the fence in 1 - 2 turn at 6:00 for hot laps. safe travels and enjoy!

So just got home from Eldora after driving 11 hours up yesterday and then back today. I have some observations to share. First of all thank you everyone for your advice. Especially a big thank you to all that said to bring goggles. Sitting in turn 3 last night felt like being sandblasted. I will NEVER complain about eating dirt at Knoxville again! The facilities were outstanding. From the bathrooms to the concession stands everything was top notch and I was very impressed. Getting a pit pass to was worth every penny and the tunnel makes it so easy to go into the pits at watch hot laps and some time trials.
The track pretty much sits in the middle of no where But I think that is what makes it so unique and convenient at the same time. Parking was easy and cheap to find and getting out after the races was painless. I had a great time even though i looked like a coal miner when we left there.
The only real complaint I have is that I didn't feel the track provided any racing until the last 2 features. For all the heat races I felt like after lap 1 you could have thrown the checkered because for the most part that's how they finishes. Is the racing always like that, I understand it's always dusty because of the composition of the dirt but all that can be overlooked as long as the racing is good.
All in all though I had a great time and want to go back to another kings royal in the future. Just not driving up that morning and back the next day lol.

If you like Non Wing The 4 Crown would be right up your alley, WOO & Mods on Friday & Midgets, Sprints & Silver Crown Sprints on Saturday & yes they will sandblast you too !!!
ORRRRRRRrrrrrrrrr you could come back in October for the Harvest of Sprints on Friday at Waynesfield & The Sprintacular on Saturday at Eldora . Waynesfield has 360 sprints along with Non wing & 1000cc winged mini sprints. Eldora has the ASCOC's same 360's & Non wing (Boss). Pretty cool weekend.

I sat in 1&2 & never had to put the goggles on.. You always have to watch the direction of the wind.. Glad you enjoyed it for being your 1st time there..

Heat races are hit and miss at Eldora sometimes. I have seen a heat race be very competitive and then the next be just like you said just be if you do not pass anyone in the first corner then you are just playing follow the leader. Just a momentum thing i guess. Usually once you get to the B main then the racing is always good at that place.

Take some time off & stick around for Indiana Speedweek. I've seen ONE wingless race at an Indiana bullring & now I'm sold....
Then I can be jealous of you for 2 things, never been to Kings Royal either. Always something going on for me that week
