i agree with the family section. even aa had a couple. i cant believe someone got puked on. they should have go their $ back and a huge "we are sorry".

That happened here in Washington a couple of months ago. When it was brought to the attention of the track manager, she asked the lady who was puked on what she was supposed to do about it.

I have been to the Dirt Cup at Skagit several times they have a area called beer garden above turn 4, if you want a drink that is where you go and you have to drink it there, can't leave the area with a drink. I have not been there in a few years so i don't if that policy is still in place..

People that got puked on said they were there for everynight, and they had never seen the drunks before that. Here's a little vid clip of the end of it. I didn't focus too much on it since my 9yr old was with us on his 1st Nationals visit.

95% of those who have a beer do so responsibly. Knoxville needs to do what every other venue does now and set up a number people can text the section and seats of anyone being disorderly so authorities can show up and see if they should be thrown out. Being obvioulsy drunk, starting fights, and puking are all reasons the sherriff should have thrown these clowns out.

Maybe the staff serving the alcohol should pay attention to who has consumed too much. It is actually their responsibility not to serve someone who is drunk, i realize this is their biggest money making weekend but i am a bartender and if i over serve someone at the bar we can be fined and loose our liqour license. To me it seems the track just wants their beer $ because they know they wont get in trouble. Ive been attending the nationals since'95 and enjoy my share of beverages but this was the worst i can remember with sloppy drunks. Seen 2 different individuals puke under the grandstands on backstretch, one just wiped his mouth and jumped into the beer line to get 2 more.

Copied the iowa state website: It is unlawful to sell or serve liquor, wine or beer to a person who is, or appears to be, intoxicated. The laws governing the sale of alcoholic beverages to intoxicated people apply to both on- and off-premises licensees - bars, restaurants, hotels, motels, liquor stores, convenience stores, grocery stores, etc. Although it may be difficult to refuse the sale or service, the consequences that may occur if appropriate action is not taken are significant. Individuals who become intoxicated put themselves and others at risk of injury and harm. Licensees (their employees and agents) who sell or serve an alcoholic beverage to an intoxicated person must realize that their failure to intervene may indirectly injure or kill someone. Laws governing intoxicated individuals also apply to licensees. Intoxication impairs judgment and interferes with sound business decisions. For this reason, licensees may find it a good business practice not to drink while at work. Licensees who sell or serve an alcoholic beverage to an intoxicated person are subject to criminal penalties. In addition, administrative proceedings may be initiated for suspension or revocation of the license. Licensees also may be held civilly liable under Iowa's Dram Shop Act for serving an alcoholic beverage to an intoxicated person who causes damage, injury or death of an innocent party. Licensees can minimize their risk by never serving an alcoholic beverage to a person who is or appears to be intoxicated. Iowa Code sections §123.49(1), §123.92, §123.93

Did anyone witness the rowdy group of loud drunks sitting in Sec H, row 21, seats 26-32 lastnight? These guys were sloppy drunk, swearing belligerently, and the surrounding people were asking them to knock it off with no luck. The sherrif came up and said something to them but left a few minutes later. Then the Rumpleminz came out and was being passed back and forth between these guys...And, one of them threw up all over the backs of the family sitting in row 20, not once, but again about 10 mins later. Alot of arguing between the guys and people fed up with them, but no punches or anything else ensuing. Guy in white shirt was the one who got sick mulitple times, guy in black shirt was the one who wanted to fight people. Bad thing about this was all the little kids and older folks that had to put up with this.

Considering the story is accurate... 1st to blame... - the morons who get stupid drunk 2nd to blame... Knoxville Raceway, shame on them...they weren't drunk and they let this continue on.

Absolutely 100% agreed! What other sporting event can you get away with that kind of crazy & NOT be thrown out? Why should Knoxville be any different? I hope someone w the power to actually do something about this is reading this thread. How bout it Knoxville staff? Who's in charge of security? How about an answer?

This kind of behavior wasn't limited to section H and the 410 Nationals.

My son and I sat in section C on the last night (Sat.) of the 360 Nationals and a guy sitting two rows up behind us was so drunk he puked all over the row in front of him. Since there were fewer people at that show, however, there was fortunately no one sitting in the row of seats between him and us.

Then his drunk wife stood up to leave the grandstands and ended up falling down the steps.

Hope Knoxville takes note of this and at least has some discussion about what might possible actions might be taken.

Having owned a couple of bars back in the day the responsibility rests with the people selling the alcohol, 100%. It was never difficult to cut off a drunk guy and if there was trouble as a result it is not difficult, in fact easy to hammer them, I've never seen a dunk fight well, ever! Liquid courage is very easy to defend, especially if they swing first (a must, legally) and you have to 'defend' yourself, ahhh the good ol' days, the Canadian way.....

A: The most common Iowa Dramshop claim is when a person is served too much alcohol at a bar, then leaves the bar while drunk, is involved in a car accident and is charged with OWI- operating while intoxicated. Another common Iowa Dramshop claim is when a drunk bar patron assaults one or more people at a bar. Liability exists under the Dramshop Act when the bar owner, liquor licensee or permittee does either;

1. Sell and serve alcohol to an intoxicated person when the licensee or permittee knew or should have known the person was intoxicated; or

2. Sell and serve the person to a point where the licensee or permittee knew or should have known the person would become intoxicated.

Iowa Code § 123.92.
The Iowa Supreme Court has stated, “Iowa’s dram shop statute is intended to place a hand of restraint on persons permitted to sell liquor and should be construed liberally to discourage the selling of excess liquor.” Therefore, the cases interpreting the Dramshop law provide that the sale and serving of alcoholic beverages does not require evidence from the Plaintiff that the intoxicated person actually consumed them. The "sold and served" language in Dramshop Act requires that alcoholic beverages be served for consumption on seller's premises such that it does not apply to gas stations, grocery stores and other liquor licensees that do not serve alcohol at their business.

It seems to me that as many seats and sections that are available at Knoxville, the leadership at the track itself would put some sort of designated sections in place.

Just my $.02 worth.

I agree on that it is the responsibility of the servers but it is also very difficult in the situation under the grandstands for them to see enough to really know if someone is too drunk because you shuffled into the little area, bought your beer and walked out, I would say unless the person crawled in there or puked on the bar as they ordered it would be hard to pick out in most cases anyways. The security needs to take care of it, just the same as an NFL football game or anyplace else. 1 warning if someone is complained about and kicked out after that, or just kicked out immediately for puking the first time.

The Sect. I sat in was all pretty good, the guy with the chicken hat and very short cut off jean shorts had had plenty, but he was just funny, he wasn't hurting anyone and everyone was getting a laugh. The one thing that bothered me was that me and my friend bought our seats 3 seats from a rail, then came in the 3 old guys that bought those 3 seats and they each have a lazy-boy type seat cushion that they put down and once they were all seated we look at our numbers and the guy closest to us seat is almost covering our seat number, so they were halfway on one of our 2 seats. I really thought I was going to have to say something but in the end 2 seats in our row ended up open so we all just scooted down, but if the row would of been completely full we would have had to of asked them to take those seats off and I'm sure they wouldn't have been happy with us but they should have purchased 4 spots if they wanted that much extra room. Over all it was a great time, and I did drink a decent amount and I didn't upset anyone.

I KNOW WE HAD A FEW STAND OFFS IN OUR SECTION THERE WERE MORE SOBER PEOPLE THAT WOULD ALL STAND UP AND NOT TAKE THE CRAP FROM THE FEW WHO CAME JUST TO GT DRUNK AND BE STUPID, LIKE SOME ONE SAID LIQUID COURAGE ONLY GOES SO FAR AND WHEN ABOUT 10 PEOPLE STAND UP AND READY TO TRASH THEM

Our familiy had a similar experience a few years ago at the Nationals. Some fans vomiting, wanting to fight and being very disruptive. There should be no special section for these disruptive folks. It is a public health issue and possibly a crime to vomit on people. It is pathetic to allow this to occur at all. I was going to get a conference call with the Marion County Fair Board with my complaints but didn't. This type of activity shouldn't happen, period. There is risk of endangerment to fans young and old and it is sad to hear it is still continuing. The race track is responsible for managing this situation.

The guy in white is DALE EARNHART JR aint it

This is a DIRT track, you idiot!!!!!HAHAHAHAHA!!!! How ya doin Hump? Anyway, got back last nite & been reading these comments this morning.. Yea, I have my share, usually before the races & after. Holding the venue responsible for drunks can be a little skewed, i.e., what if he drank way too much before entering their property? Sales? yes, I agree...if they can see that the customer is impaired, cut him off. But let's see....the almighty $$$$$$?????? My big thing about this is, why didn't the local sheriffs, with all of their bravado & machismo before the show, take the appropriate actions? I am always under the premise that they are there to protect ALL of the fans! They could have easily (?) escorted those idiots out. It's too bad this happened & I feel bad for the people who got the worst of it. K-ville should seriously think about a good sized family section. Anyway, all in all we had a great time. The Fri. nite format?....That's for another post!!!

Let me get this strait. You are in a bar (which is not a family place) and get unruly you are removed by a bouncer or a Police officer and probabley BANNED from returning. Why in HELL Knoxville lets them stay and keeps serving them is disgraceful. What we should do is bypass Knoxville and dial 911 and gets some Police Officers in there
