Mike, along with Rich and Jim, is the guy who introduced me to so many members of Hoserville when i moved here from Indiana. I have been sitting here today just thinking about some of the road trips I was fortunate to take with him before I made the switch to shooting late models in 2005.
I was there at that motel in Phoenix where the legend of "Car Wash" was born on that Sunday morning of Copper Weekend in 2002. Road trips to Santa Maria, Tulare and Hanford marked that first season I was here as a new fan to the area. Mike was always quick to point out historical references be it a drivers accomplishment or how a certain race played out. I quickly learned about NARC on those trips and heard fantastic memories of San Jose and Baylands.
Today has been a terribly sad day for the community, that has been quite obvious with the number of posts on facebook, Hoseheads and this board. I have had a lot of smiles mixed in with some tears today as I just thought about some of my memories of Mike.
