The 23rd Annual Comp Cams Short Track Nationals will push off for Night 1 of 3 on Thursday, October 28 on Tracey Clay's speed plant otherwise known as I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, AR. Advanced 3 day tickets are $45 + convenience charge which will save you $10 if you purchase tickets the day of the show. A 3-day pit pass is selling in advance for $90 + convenience charge which will save you $10 as well.
As usual, this event will draw more than 100 sprinters that want to compete for the $15,000 first prize and $2,300 to start the "A" on Saturday night. The King of the True Outlaws, Sammy Swindell, will compete for the big money in Tod Quiring's Big Game Tree Stands #1 sprinter.
I hope to see you there...
|
Tim Shaffer will be piloting the #83 sprinter at the Short Track Nationals (aka: KNOXVILLE NATIONALS CHAMPION).

Paul McMahon has permission from the outlaws to be the safety crew. I heard they hired Pork Chop and rented his truck as an ambulance.

I asked about the safety crew situation in another thread and was met with a profanity filled tirade. Hopefully, waiting on an off-site ambulance and the closest engine company from the Little Rock Fire Department isn't the acceptable standard this year. Those folks do a good job but those resources should be on-site and dedicated to the event. Paul is a hero for his prior actions but it shouldn't be up to Paul McMahan to ensure track safety. That should be something the drivers don't have to worry about.

Also, on the Gary Wright subject... I think he's just hit an awful run of bad luck. At Wheatland, he was tangled up in a heat race mess that wasn't his fault. Then he put on a show in the B but didn't get the late race yellow he needed to catch the 2nd place car for a transfer. He's still got it....

a real job."

Feel free to visit Tim Crawley during the Short Track Nationals and request to personally dislodge the horseshoe. I am sure he will give you a personal response.

Tim Shaffer is a confirmed entry.

Talk about having a golden horseshoe...Mabey he & GW can be racing for a transfer spot in a prelim night & race the wheels of his car to get around GW...will never forget GW's interview after the race when he said "guess he didn't know he was racing me that hard for a $100"...classic GW...never gets old...hopefully he can hook up w/a maxim/Westmar carowner cuz what he has now aint workin...

i agree, gw needs some different equipment. perhaps him and donnie cooper should hook up once more, just for the stn. the 01 has won twice with two different drivers, wright has won four. it's a thought.

If Im not mistaken, I think youngster Mark Shirshekan out of Farmington is driving for Donnie Cooper(or at least his car) this year...now he might build a 2nd car for someone else...I know Ive seen Shirshekan's car this year and it has Cooper racing all over it.

I had forgotten about him, your right. don't remember if he made the show last year, but he didn't look to bad. just like to see wright run like he has in the past, like he's still capable of.

See you thee Keet!
Mike, Shirshekan was at Granite City last Sat. but wasn't near as fast as Hull and Randy Martin.
I'd keep an eye on Shaffer. He could very well pull of the win. Both times he's raced there he did real good and that was in one of Doc Sloan's cars. Passed GW on his game to win his first time there ever in 07.
But if there's anyone thats due to win it, it's Shane. I think he could have made a run at Bruce last year had he not spun while trying to pass Wayne Johnson for second early on.

You might want to contact mama Dover on that question, as she has been very voicesterous on this subject in regards to Little Rock and their lack of safety personnel. Also, beings Jack has been in the hospital twice already this year due to unfortunate crashes, I am sure that safety will be on the top of the Dover's list as they pull into Little Rock. (That is IF they pull in, mattering as to what the ambulance situation is.)

Mark drives and owns all of his own stuff. Cooper is his crew chief. Cooper still has his 01 car. It hasn't been out of the shop all year. It may be at Little Rock. With him, who knows! It's the best car and motor you could possibly want. A lot of guys would love to take a ride in it.

How can a race of this magnitude not have a fully equipped safety crew on site?? That's just blatant dis-respect for the drivers and crews by the promoters. Call the Knoxville safety crew or Winged Outlaw Warriors crew. Pay their motel bills and they'd probably be there as fast as they respond on the track. I'm sure all drivers would feel much more comfortable seeing them sitting in the infield. This is one of the most prestigious races in the country. Please don't shortcut on safety.
