sure wish there was tv for the 50th.

Tape Delayed this year, so those of us in attendance don't have to "wait out" the TV breaks or wait to push of the Feature for an hour like in 2008 since the TV "schedule" didn't have it taking the green @ 11:10 PM.

Welcome change to the week IMO. I think TV being tape delayed will make the night go by MUCH faster and allow for some of the old "pageantry" of the event to take center stage again (with it being the 50th, I hope they introduce and "parade" every former winner (still living) around the track and the fans give them a big round of applause (they deserve it, especially the early winners).

120 is my guess, only (10) regulars entered thus far, no PA cars, only 1 CA car, only 1 former champ (Blaney).

Given that Randi Turner signed up (I remember when he was there in the 80's, I think I've seen a 4Q sticker on a sign or light pole from when he was here the last time) and some of the guys that haven't attended for YEARS, I'll say the car count will be up compared to 2009.

Fuel prices staying stable will help fan and car count as well IMO (remember in 2008 when it went from $1.90 to $4 in 3 months...

80-100 is a good range, you would think since its the 50th it'd be higher but i think 100 is max.

I'd love to see Bud Keading, Breant Keading, Jason Statler, Kevin Swindell, Tommy Tarlton all those guys make it out

when is the last year BK was at the nationals?

It's more likely that they'll get 140 cars than to see any of these guys there with the possible exception of Bullhead (Kevin). Brent's last trip to the Nationals was '97.

You know what is really amazing! Look at the post that lists the car counts with the years. The years with the highest car counts were all the years that "the King" won. Man that guy is awesome. I wish " the Wolf" could run again, then it would be a true Knoxville Nationals.

I love the Nationals and look forward to them every year. I'd say 105-115 will be the car count.

Only 1 former champ? I believe a Mr. Lasoskin is registered and he has won the thing a few times. Smile

In regards to the topic at hand it will be lower then past years. Goodyear tires will drop the car count. California doesn't even require Goodyears so I doubt many cars from there will head out. A good 7 PA guys will take the trip. Probably around the same for OH guys. Hopefully WE get some more cars from Aussieland, etc. 92 cars.

I do not see why they would stay home because of tires you will run new tires anyway.

Anyone staying home because of tire brand was not going to do anything but fill a parking place anyway.JMO

The Goodyear deal will have no effect on car counts, IMO. My guess is for a healthy 110 cars. (8 from Ohio) Yes, Dave Blaney & his brother Dale will both make the A. Wish we could be there this year, but just too many other things eating up our vacation money.

95 cars for 2010.

I vote that everyone blames Goodyear. The tire rule killed racing, after all.

Smile

I didnt know there was 100 410`s left in the U.S..

If there are 60 cars or so each night I will be pleased with the car count.

The issue that needs to be addressed is the issue of the full invert in the heats - which NEEDS to be back for 2010. I can understand if they wanted to do the inversion of 8 due to the rain last year on the first night, but I know everyone wants to see a full heat race inversion, which we are accustomed to.

Can you help with any info on this, Bill? Thanks

The Knoxville web site indicates full 10 car inverts for the 410 Nationals. I believe it is only 8 car inversion for the 360 Nationals Scratch the 8 invert, The website says invert of 6 for the 360 Nationals

This year would have been 20 years in a row for me!! Just can't make it this year. But a friend of mine is trying to find enough drivers to make a Knoxville marathon trip this year! If we can find 1 or 2 more we will be doing the 1100 mile round trip starting very early Saturday morning!!!

Great post Dirtdevil...even though I had to read it twice to understand...too many coma's..hahaha...but it is so true, if you are a Knoxville Nationals regular you start to say "we" all of the time, and you should....because that is what the Nationals is all about...it's our (sprint car fans) Indy 500 and then some...

I have to laugh when I read half of these post bitching about one thing or another about the Nationals....the Uproar over 50 laps, fuel stops, ect.....what most of the people (the "they" people) on here don't understand is the Nationals aren't just about the A Main...Its about a week of celebrating the sport that we all love...it's about the inverted heats..it's about the 360 dude that runs third in the C Main, it's about re-establishing friendships that you haven't spoken to since last year.....if you have never been "here" you will never understand...

great post jtc

My wife and I have been going to Knoxville for the past 10 years and when we started going it was just us, no camper, staying with my parents. Now we own our own camper and a 4 year old daughter who loves to go to Knoxville to the races. You are right about the people you meet, we met a great guy to talk to about the races several years ago and he only lived a couple of hours away from where we live but the only time we talked to him was at Knoxville. Unfortunately he died in a house fire a little over a year ago, right before the nationals last year. It is just amazing how you can go from 10 years with no kids and no camper to having what we have now and loving to go to the Nationals year after year with the family.
