Anybody know if the Danny Smith sweatshirts are gray or white? Not sure how much it would help if I bought one but I figured it couldn't hurt. Thanks....

Just wanted to let you all know how Danny is doing. I just got off the phone with his wife as he was being wheeled back into his room from a scan.I heard him talking.Smile Danny has a triple fracture in his L4 vertebrae, but its stable. He? had small bleeding happening in his belly, probably due to the force put on his spine, that been stablized too. He injured an elbow and was having a little bit of seepage...nothing major. Danny will have surgery Monday

Get well soon Danny. Hope all goes well with the surgery.

Did Danny remarry? I remember his wife dying a few years ago.

Ugly wreck....here's to a speedy recovery

But 30 or 40 remote kill switches being manned by personnel might become unmanageable; yeah, a crewman for each team should have some responsibilty here, but can you imagine the S*** when a switch is activated inadvertantly and costs a team a race win?!

now this would not have helped with the Wilburn accident, for a stuck throttle during "normal" racing conditions, I was thinking something more along the lines of a pressure/timing circuit to a kill switch that would be activated from the brake pedal. Hold the brake pedal down at a predetermined brake pressure (full force), for a predetermined set time and it kills the engine. It would be very easy to build and could be powered by a 9 volt battery.

Never said that it wouldn't have helped in the Wilburn wreck......

Oh me - I hate to hear this. I don't know if Danny and his family will ever read this - but I went to his 21st birthday party at the Devil's Bowl. I can't believe that neat kid is 53 years old. All of the best to Danny in his recovery and to his future. You are one fine person who deserves the best. We're praying for you.

We've all seen wrecked cars with hung throttles... saying that sprints wouldn't be safer without them is plain ridiculous.

People that make a stand against safety, especially safety without extreme expense, really make me wonder. Seems like anything that might make the sport safer or possibly less expense gets met with negative responses.

"I want definites" or "until it's proven" keeps popping up. There are no definites in life save for death & taxes. You make an educated guess and try to stack the odds in your favor.

If for no other reason than killing the motor on a car hung in a fence with the tires/wheels blaring... put a kill switch on the car. That car's crew-activated.
