I'm not trying to start an argument here, but I do have a question that's been bopping around my brain as I read this thread. Last year was the 25th Anniversary King's Royal, and they were only able to pull in 35 or 36 cars. What has changed in the past year that would add 10-15 more cars to the lineup?

Good point....but the Ohio speedweek show has barely ever pulled in 30 cars in years past and they had an outstanding car count of 48 this year!!! That was $5,000 to win. The Royal has another 0.

do it in the dirt

I know they lost few cars because of the rain out last year when they had to run on a Sunday. The car count has been decent at Eldora this year. The track has been decent as well this year. I always liked the 6 heat format, hope we get to see it this year!

you can add current F.A.S.T. series point leader Craig Mintz to the confirmed list...I received an email stating that the TGE racing team will be at the 2009 Kings Royal...

...good luck to Craig and the entire TGE team...

This is a topic every year and every year the estimates end of too high. The reason so many cars show up for speedweek is that the last 12 spots in the A-Main are up for grabs. That is not really the case at the Royal. Ever since the Outlaws began sanctioning this race - the car count has steadily gone down. Not because of the WoO, but because of their format. Personally, I have thought for years, that the royal is a great bargain for Eldora. I would like to see Tony and Larry bump up the purse in the B and C Mains so that more guys can make good money. If that happened, the car count would go way up. The cost to run and opportunity to cash in is just not all that good for many guys. Once you get past the Outlaw regulars, the top dollar travelers, the best All-Stars, a few PA guys, your chances of making money in the mid pack of the B-Main is just not that good. I would like to see $1,500 for last place in the B. That would draw more cars.

The 6 heat format was designed for 8 car heats, so minimum 48 cars needed. I think that's obtainable this year.

Don't ask me who said it or where I heard it, but I could've swore it was mentioned that Herrera was making his return to Eldora for the royal. Just can't remember where that came from.

Wondering about Paul McMahon. Who owned that 45 he was in for Speedweek?

the 45 car was Brian Grove's car from the Canton Ohio area he could be a possiblity of showing up there

The Speedweek show at the big E drew 48, so I would thing that would be the number this time as well.

lets just say you have a better chance of tony paying more to attica, fremont, and k.c. to not race then you do paying out deeper into the field

I seen that the titan 21 team has chassis and motors for sale on the hoseheads classifieds. Selling old equipment or a pending sale? Did they run anywhere this past weekend?

They are running in WI with the WoO tonight.
