Lest we forget about some of the of the hero's of the time - 3 of mine were AJ Little, JR Bruner and Ken Sweet sorry no pics but working on it.

wish I could find the pics to post but can't - unsung heroes - AJ Little, JR bruner and Ken Sweet, I grew up watching theae three battle it out at the Lawton Speedway when racing was racing - good days gone by wish I could see a " fantasy A feture" between these and numorous others - now that would be a great race

Jr I'm certain could still do it. I don't think he has ever stopped being Jr. Bruner, and that's a good thing.
AJ Little's life story would make a great book. I got to be there when he won his last NCRA supermodified race (winged cars). He was a likeable guy with complex issues in crazy times. The superhero with flaws. It was near impossible to dislike AJ for long. I knew one guy that disliked him for 25 years, but that's as long as he could hold out. He loved life and life loved him back, but don't mean they always got along.
Ken Sweet once pulled my Dad out of a wrecked car, making my Dad a Ken Sweet fan for life. I never heard one bad word about him.

Ken Sweet also pulled my dad from a burning car in Kansas - dad never raced again because I was so young at the time and he wanted to see me grow up but worked the pits and parking lot at Lawton for many years, funny how life deals you cards, I also quit after a severe back injury and considering my kids.
For a guy that drove a car named "Hell's a Poppin" never heard a bad word about Mr Sweet myself
I agree that Jr Bruner could probably still jump in a car and run up front

Ok Im new to this and sent this website by some friends. I have an old car body that Says Ken Sweet along the roofline over the door and two big 21 on the back. Wish I could find some pics of this car when it was on track.

Is it an old coupe body or modified body? but then, Kenny drove quite a few different types of cars through the years.

I just went through the Oklahoma Supers section and the forum section of the 70's. I don't have any of Ken Sweet. He is listed in the Memorial Section though. I thought I had one of the Ken.

Its like a cut up and narowed 34 - 36 Ford Sedan body? I realy have no clue, I mean I know my cars Im a Hot Rodder. But this thing is so chopped up its hard to tell.

My Dad would know! Pokeyokie would surely know, probably have a pic somewhere.
That car ran most likely in 68-71. The cars were getting narrow, and most guys found it cheaper to cut down their wide bodies than to buy fiberglass versions.

Well if I could find a pic of this car it would be great. If I redo the car I would like to recreate it. If not it may sit in my dining room or carport and just be a part of history. But Id like to make this ol girl come to life.

But if you think its from the late 60s early 70s then I can build it with most anything. I was thinking it was a 50s race car and I was gona have to build another flatty, HAHAHA. Man I love flatheads just hate the money they eat up!!!

Ken I think was too young for Wichita Falls in the early 60's, and that doesn't look as radical as one of theirs from that time. Kenny ran 6 bangers when Dad did.

230 inline 6, with flattop 327 pistons would be a great start on the engine. The basic formula for a car like that is really easy, just takes work. People love 'em these days.

Well If I can find something that would be great. I spoke to a Mr. Lindsey here in the area and hes gonna come measure the body up. He thinks he has a frame that will work for it. So I hope to put it on the track. I would love to paint it back the way it was if now we may paint it up our way and run it. But Id like to make her look as she did.
