It has nothing to do with not being agressive enough. It;s that Bill is self taught in everything including mechanicly, set ups and such. For the years he has been coming in to PA, He was essentially just guessing and hoping he knew what he was doing and he'd hit on something. This is partly why it's taken soo long for Bill to move forward with a tour oir something. He's been trying to put together a notebook of what he's learned so that he;s not so out to lunch when trying to travel and compete

Well said. Was just talking to a friend this weekend about the same thing. Bill is a really good driver, that had to do most everything on his own. Something has to give when in that situation. Another thing that puts him behind the 8ball in my opinion, is... and not to take anything away from the IRA, its a blue collar series with mostly family funded budget minded teams, but when he hits the road with All Stars and WOO... those guys are throwing sliders on every lap, all the way through the field. They get after it. They'll risk a car passing for 8th. You can watch a half dozen IRA races and maybe catch a good slider once a race, or every two. Again, they dont do this for a living and I am sure many IRA teams cant afford throwing a car in the garbage can in the event a slider doesnt work out. I think as he runs more and more against these series, learns and trusts the competition around him and what it takes, he will take off just fine.

Good info on Bill, a lot of stuff I didn't know. It aint easy trying to do it all almost by yourself. I thought Bill ran ok while in PA and hope he does well on the road.

When Bill ran in PA he did have a pretty good mechanic helping him.

Nobody can challenge him for goofiest nickname, tho! wink

The town he came from in Alaska is North Pole.  I'm not sure what is goofy about the nickname.  Driver nicknames are announcer hype and drivers don't come up when them.

With the news about Zeb Wise yesterday, it looks like a nice group of racers top to bottom for the All Stars. Good luck predicting a series champion. It's not a stretch to say that every driver on this list can content for A main wins.  12 followers so far.  Are there any more drivers planning on following this year?

10         Zeb Wise

17b        Bill Balog

8M         T.J. Michaels

26          Cory Eliason

13          Justin Peck

11           Ian Madsen

07           Lucas Wolfe

3             Zack Hampton

91           Kyle Reinhardt

55           Hunter Schurenburg

7             Tyler Courtney

5              Brent Marks

I think predicting the series champ is easy. Its Eliason. He was hanging with Reutzel 2nd half of last year. I think 2nd comes down to Marks and Courtney (bit a darkhouse w/ his limited wing exp. IMO)

I could see Marks making a bid as his time trial woes are less of an issue with the all star format. But Eliason is definitely the favorite.

Mid-70's , Black Hills Speedway in S.D. : #14 Concrete John Slagle. He seemed to be OK with the nickname. Announcer hype department: Concrete John has torn his front axle off so often that his crew has installed a zipper on the front end to make replacement easier". Smile

I prefer to call him The Alaskan Assassin.

I just call him Bill whenever I run into him which will likely be pretty rare with him leaving the upper Midwest.  I was exchanging messages with one of the first owners to put him in a sprint car in Wisconsin.  The owners name is Coleman and we were discussing the possible whereabouts of the former Foyt #2 that became the Wagner #62 then ended up being the car that Russ Laurson perished in at Fairmont.  I talked to him on the phone and Bill's name came up.

He's terrible outside Wisconsin and around full-time talent. He may sneak out a win or two, but not aggresive enough to be a threat every time out.

Have you ever watched him race ? One of the most aggressive drivers always looking to pass. Solid driver anywhere he goes.

He is pretty good in a midget when he gets the chance. I think he in a bit under rated

All-Stars announced 11 full-time drivers but that was upped to 12 with Cap Henry joining the mix. Possibly the best lineup the all-stars have had in a long time:

Eliason

Marks

Madsen

Wise

Courtney

Peck

Balog

Wolfe

Schuerenburg

Reinhardt

Michael

and now Henry
