That's Mark Dobmeier's car out of Grand Forks, North Dakota. It's probably just a one off deal for the weekend. Your opinion of Bill falls far short of the success that he has had in the upper Midwest. Did he pass your favorite driver?
|
No actually. I know the BWW car and its usually far more competitive with a good driver. I am from Mowa land and attend IRA races when I can. The 10 time IRA champion schtick is overplayed. Success?? He beat up on a 410 field who regularly let 550hp steel block 360's sneak into the top 10. Harsh? Yes, but the IRA are good for what they are... but nowhere near strong against any other 410 series. Yes Balog snuck out a WOO win at Beaver Dam, but anywhere else when against good competition, or Penn., he gets it handed to him. doesnt have it at that level and it is what it is.

Just curious who you out in your list of 6.
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Was an estimate, but I guess I could hazard a list.

That's a strong 6. Should I include Macedo? Meh. Maybe.

Well, I know a few people from the IRA from my writing and photo days and think they're a good regional series. Matter of fact I have know Steve the president of IRA for probably 20 years now on a first name basis. I did a lot of PR for their western swings up to Cedar Lake and other local tracks. Being half way between the IRA home base and Grand Forks I am very familiar with Mark Dobmeier Racing as well.
Bill is a good racer who has made a name for himself, won a good number of races and titles and represents the sport well. That is a win and successful Sprint Car career by my way of thinking. True, his championships are all IRA and not WoO but they still took hard work, dedication and skill. I can't find any fault with anything he has done and I have known him since he first moved here. Every driver may not end up in the HOF but that doesn't mean they weren't talented drivers. I am looking forward to following the All Stars and IRA again this season.

1. I was at that Beaver Dam Outlaw race he "snuck" out. That was far from a gimme. If you weren't there, watch the replay
2. I have not seen the BWW car be competitive since Dobmeier took it over-----maybe I'm missing the good showings?

I do not even know where Bill Balog is from - but he impressed me at the Chili Bowl. He managed to circumnavigate corner 1 & 2 in the most beautiful fashion I have ever seen. That might have been a one time off - but it certainly impressed me. When people talk about how bad drivers are I wonder how many of those folks have tried to corrall these high powered "broncos" in a crowd of other cars? I may not like all of the drivers but I still have respect for their ability to do what they do.

You can't figure oiut where "The North Pole Nightmare" is from???
Even when he's driving a 900 Reindeer Power rocket sled?

Even if the cars aren't as fast, anyone who can win that consistently is a good driver.

I think Macedo is going to be a force to reckon with.

He ran very well in PA in the 07 car at the end of last year. I'm surprised he didn't land that ride.

Was there a point system for the 3 day total or just 3 separate shows?
What format did they use for line ups? ASCOC or their own?
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!
