10 to 1 he'll have a competitive ride and racing on dirt at Bristol. Hey, he'll be back in an open-wheel car, because he will not accept a ride that won't allow him to.

Wake up on this Bristol race on dirt deal, because it's going to be good for every dirt track from coast to coast, and the joint is going to have a great crowd. It's a brilliant move. Bristol is an old storied track with deep roots, and the Nascar crowd will come out to see the show, and the TV ratings will be high.

Notice how the NASCAR announcers are already using dirt racing jargon and terms for pavement racing, and the youngsters coming up want to run the  "cushion," "rim ride" " do a "slide job". Of course, they never give Harry Gant a thought these days.

I worry about the Cup on Bristol dirt deal and how the perception of dirt track racing will be affected.   I am concerned that it will NOT be in a good way.

Look what happens to Eldora when the trucks race.....hard and slick,  sealed over before practice is over and nowhere near the Eldora that we all know and love.....whether it be Eldora 2020 or Eldora 1988.    I expect 10 more cars and triple the laps will not provide any better results.

 No suprise here.

Greatest thing to happen to NASCAR all year.  As hard as NASCAR trys to hype the races, I think most of them are just so so.  Yes I will continue to watch them although I just woke up long enough to see last 2 laps sunday.

I respect your opinion but disagree.  Every diehard Nascar fan I know loves to watch the truck race at Eldora.  Many of those "diehard" racing fans had never watched a race at Eldora before Nascar brought the trucks.  Many of the dirt fans I know, including myself, love the truck race at Eldora.  The racing is very good regardless of the speed.  So, while those that are sprint car only fans seem to not enjoy the trucks because of the lack of speed, there are plenty of overall racing fans, late-model fans, and Nascar fans that will make this a home run for Nascar.  JMO though.  I received a message the day after the announcement from 6 friends of mine who have never been to a sprint car race before-----asked me if I wanted to go to Bristol in March.  They haven't been to a Nascar race in years!

I didn't say how bitchin the track was going to be or say anything about the racing at all for that matter. So, you think the Trucks at Eldora put a bad light on what, a dry slick track?

I'm a hardcore traditional sprint car snob, but it's going to be a SHOW that I'll be happy to watch. Larson and Bell just for starters. I know one thing, it will be better than the cups last race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Ha, remember how the cars looked after a race at Bristol before they put in the progressive banking? I don't think I'll be going out on a limb to say they'll look like that again.

Yes, and with a live broadcast with a much larger crowd in a modern facility is a good thing for all of dirt racing.
Can you bring in a ringer running cup, or just in the infinity series? If they could and you have some time on your hands, think of the possibilities.

I watched one truck race at Eldora because Mark Smith was in it. I thought it was down right painful to watch and couldn't finish it. I don't see most of the Cup fans putting up with getting dirt in their hair. I don't see it doing anything but hurting dirt track racing because NASCAR will screw it up and people will think that is what all dirt racing is like.

Oh well, it was fun while it lasted....

I think he might well remember this summer as one of his best. I just can't see racing NASCAR as much fun.... driving 500 miles, even with tunes & A/C, is a chore, much less in a 180mph traffic jam with a bunch of aggressive drivers. Sprint car races, on the other hand, are a few minutes of pure excitement, & he already said he enjoys it more.

revjimk but it come down to the mighty dollars..You can force yourself to enjoy your career with huge money..Yes, to have a job you enjoy and make big bucks helps but 1/3 or less does not pay the bills after you're used to a couple million a year..

The name on the hood of the car says "Leary", not "Bowman". I didn't see anything where Bowman indicated he'd be driving it.

They can't race with Leary because he got suspended for doping tires in USAC.
