Not sure how much pull Swank has with KCP to pull that off. Especially with his lackluster performance as crew chief. My opinion is, Swank has had his day in the sun. It's been a minute since he's been apart of a what we would call, a winning team. If you can't blame a shit program on the driver, who's next in line to point the finger at ?

Looks to me like Swank has the car pretty dialed in Gio has been timing in pretty well and running up front and falling back late in the race  they are not winning but they are a contender for sure ......

Gravel always elevates the teams he drives for, they always have the best years they've ever had with him behind the wheel.

Hard to believe guys are getting hostile with each other about this... wink

Plus, isn't it supposed to be called "Silly Season"? "Crazy Season" started with COVID... frown

Not sure how much validity to really put on any of these rumors but since this is a discussion board, hey I'll bite for discussion purposes.

Not sure why Gravel would want to leave the 41. Granted yes there is the whole Nascar Dream still there so that might be a factor but still not sure why he would want to leave the team or why the team would want him to leave if that is the reason. He/they are currently 2nd in owner points which I believe is what the point fund pays out to. I think Phillip Dietz is by far the most under rated crew chief out there and might currently be argueably the best one on the tour (excluding Silva).

Macedo would make sense depending on if the 2 closes which could end up happening if Kyle does not get a Nascar Deal, or good Nascar deal (still think he will get a discounted contract). Macedo has a relationship with JJR and has sponsorship which would help with that team as well.

It would not surprise me if Madsen is out of the 2 car after this year but then again it wouldn't surprise me if he stayed. That team really has not performed up to the standards that they had previously had.

Overall I think this could be an interesting off season as far as how schedules are made and who decides to go where. Many teams said they would follow the All Stars but ended up backing out due to the uncertainty of the pandemic.

I heard from a friend of mine, who heard from a friend of his, who heard it from two drunks waiting in line to use the pissers at the Tusky 50, that Strawser and Wingspeed have been hired by NASCAR to prepare the track at Bristol for their up coming Cup race on dirt.

That might be.  But I remember Tony Stewart having an open seat in the #20 car years back.  And I remember Tim Kaeding commenting in an article in one of the dirt magazines that he would have to bring 7-digits in sponsorship money to the car to get the seat.  (Maybe someone can elaborate or clarify this memory I have---because I don't have it in front of me---purely going off of memory, and I'm losing that)   Maybe Tarltons is footing a upper-6 to lower 7-figure bill?  I don't have any insider info.  I just know the loss of Chevy on the wing had to hurt a tad?  Along with any other smaller sponsors that jumped ship.  I can only speak for what my feeling would be in his situation.  If I didn't have the 7-8 figure salary coming in, I would not be forking out fun money to keep the #2 car on the road.  But that's my thought.  Maybe he has it all worked out and doesn't mind putting some of his money towards it.

Pure speculation on my part

I think it was on open red, Carson said he planned to replicate what Sheldon had done the previous year and run his own outlaw team with funding from Complete, Tarlton etc.... Jason Meyers helped him put together a budget and was going to oversee their program.  He said something along the lines of it was all 90% in motion when Kyle called and asked to merge their efforts which seems to have worked quite well.

add to all this, it doesn't hurt that tom tarlton is carsons grandpa. Tarlton plastering, drywall & metal stud co. is a giant here in Ca. & beyond, it just doesn't seem that coming up with big sponsor $ is a big issue, whether in another ride or his own deal. been watching this family race most of my life, they bleed methanol.                  BTW one that i read on here years ago-douche nozzle-only use it when necessary

I just want to point out Sprinter#4 said it first !

There will be a 41 car in 2021. 2nd year in a row someone's tried to say they're shutting down.
