For me personally, every time I attend a sprint car race and hear Smoke is in the field, I consider it a bonus.....I think he has been more than competive this season considering how "hit & miss" his schedule has been this year. Some folks hunt, fish or go to the beach for entertainment.....Tony races sprint cars for his relaxation.

Exactly squared. He seems to enjoy the camaraderie in the pits and the rush of 900 hp between his legs. Plus knowing his mere presence enhances his wealth, the ultimate measure of success.
Within hearing distance of Tri City Speedway

When did he ever do much in winged sprint cars? Most of heroics were with USAC or NASCAR...
|
He has a couple of World of Outlaw Sprint Car wins, which just might be a couple more than you have. I witnessed both of them LIVE. I also saw his first ever 360 win, LIVE. To go one step further I saw him race his first ever winged Sprintcar a long time ago at PCR in Australia. Three different countries for these achievements...

Sorry, YOU'RE WRONG. I was there and watched Tony race a winged Sprint Car at Parramatta City Raceway in 1995. It was a Heinz 57 special with parts from many different cars. He was real fast for a few laps and then dumped it, never seen him as excited. PS I never saw Johnny that night and my eyes were awful good back then....I also accept your feeble apology , using a third party reference, sheesh....

I'd love to sit down sometime and listen to your stories from your time living a life that people like me only dream of.

I stuck to a game plan, started with photography which I knew nothing about, lol. I learned quickly and it didn;t hurt that I became friends and then roomates with Randy Jones who is in my opinion maybe the greatest action sprint car photographer of all-time. Jack Kromer is in my opinion the greatest candid phoyographer in the sprint car world.
This led to all the travels, all the races, all the friends met along the way and all the fun. I would love to spend a few hours with you my Posse friend but ill health has me virtually housebound these days. What I do have are memories that I reflect on often and the smiles they bring that I'll take with me into the dirt. Take It Easy.....

Dang Nellie you are getting me all misty eyed. We used to go on with me being the posse chearleader and you of course being yourself. I was going to introduce myself to you back in the early 2000's at Big Diamond but you and some big round dude were walking around with pitching wedges and after seeing your tree trunk lke arms I thought I would have a better night if I didn't wind you up. I kinda miss you busting on the posse chearleaders these days. Jack Kromer is indeed a legend. Sorry if I strayed off the Tony S. topic.

My loss beezman, I met sooo many great Posse fans and a lot of them didn't start as friends, I regret we never spoke, I had a few tales about most people I crossed in the sport, sprint car fans are now and have been for the last 20 years in my opinion the greatest folks on the planet. Go Posse, lol....

Damn Mike, sorry to hear about your health struggles. I saw you one time at Port Royal back in the early 2000's at a World of Outlaws show but I was just a dumb punk teenager (I didnt post here back then. I just lurked) and I figured you had better shit to do than talk to me. Wish I'd taken the opportunity. But, nevertheless, your posts about the things you've done, the things you've seen and the cast of misfit characters you've met along the way are one of the highlights of this forum for me. You got to experience the golden age of sprint car racing from one of the best seats in the house.
