It was great to see the 15 team architect a comeback like that on Saturday night.        My math says that based on the 30 lap results, if the feature were a 50 lap race he would have passed 8 more cars and finished in the top 5.

I only saw clean passes where he left plenty of room too.  He wasn't driving like he was late for the airport in the C-main or B-main.    Donnie does it without all the drama.

Another thing to appreciate about Donny Schatz is that he is a sprint car racer because he wants to be a sprint car racer.     He was never forced to be a sprint car racer because his NASCAR didn't worked out.

This posse fan has mad respect for most sprint car drivers especially Donnie Schatz.

Your math doesn't work out as Donny was lapped by Larson.  I believe he was the 1st or 2nd car a lap down.  So, he would have gained potentially one more spot.  (unless he was unlapped by the red flag?----but I don't think he was)

Either way, it was an impressive drive.  He would have been a factor in the top-5 had he started farther up in the field.

To respond to the overall thread, I am not a Donny hater.  I don't like to see him win because I've seen that enough.  Right now, I can't get enough of Kyle winning because we haven't seen enough of him on dirt and don't know what the future holds and how much longer we get to enjoy this before he heads off to....................?   I would also be in favor of watching him run the full World of Outlaws next year just to see how many wins he could rack up.  As far as Donny goes, he is one of the cleanest, smoothest drivers I've ever witnessed on a dirt track.  I did not get to witness much of his early career besides the first few Nationals I attended so I cannot attest to his early driving style.  Kyle definitely has the most aggressive driving style out there followed by Sheldon.  I know some call it dirty.  I call it aggressive.  I have seen him take no one out intentionally.  If anyone thinks he took Bayston out intentionally, watch the replay again.  His car shot to the right when the front end came off the ground---and it happened in a split second.  He definitely squeezed the car in on the slide-job on Schuchart.  However, we've seen that exact same move by every driver in the field at some point----even Donny has done it.  Jason Johnson did it to Schatz and everyone in the dirt racing world thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread and just hard racing.  Now, the same move is dirty when Kyle does it.  And, to compare the Larson budget to anyone else's budget is really irrelavent because none of us really know what all of the team's budgets are.  We can speculate.  Many have speculated Silva's budget is mediocre because of a repuation of being "tight."  Many who know Schatz's family say that car was one of the most heavily funded "family" cars in the country----out funding some of the big guns.  I can say this---no matter what the "funding" is of these cars, the best teams brought out their best stuff at Knoxville last weekend.  And, truth be known, there was nothing special going on with Larson's car that wasnt' going on in 15-20 other pits on the grounds.  There were some heavily funded operations there last weekend.  I also think it's ridiculous when everyone equated Gravel winning last year's Nationals to funding from Jeff Gordon's partner Axalta.  Sure they got a check and a nice shiny paint job, but do you think there was anything else in that car that wouldn't have been there anyways?
