Originally from Memphis myself. Hope you enjoy it. It will be very painful for me to watch it on DV. Even worse, I'll be able to see my cousin and his grandson on the bottom row of the back straight and know I should be there with them. I had originally planned to go, but I was told by my company that if I or anyone who travels with me develop any symptoms during the trip or when we return I have to take two weeks of vacation to quarantine. That would be on top of the vacation I would be taking for the trip itself. I just can't risk that happening. Hope all of you guys who get to go enjoy it immensely!

No offense to your job which helps pay the bills but that's pretty shitty. As a business in the free world and employment at will I suppose they can make these rules but I never want my job to effect my life after quitting time. But a job is a job. Personally I don't use social media so I'd probably take the time off, claim it as a dirtvision staycation, and just go. Prove it that I went I think similar things went on with Scotty Theil and his job earlier this season (maybe I'm rememberlong incorrectly).
Wait a sec, maybe you are going and this post is a clever cover up! Smart man.

I suppose I better chime in to. I'll go if weather looks good and if I can get a ticket at the gate day of. I don't like to buy early or online. Playing the refund game after rainouts usually isn't fun to worry about either. If no tickets are left I have a plethora of other racing options to attend.

My group of 8 has cancelled. First time I will be missing the trip since 1993. I will be asking for a refund since there is some uncertainty among some of the group at this time. We will regroup and I will be returning next year. The trip to Knoxville would not be the same without the complete Nationals and the associated events and crowd.

This is pretty shitty, but overall it's been a very good company to work for. It's the kind of thing that happens with large companies that are run by people with little or no common sense.

The large company I work for did something similar but said if you could work from home then no vacation would have to be used up. If your job couldn't be done from home you can just use sick days (not vacation) with a mandatory quarantine of 14 days If you left the country. Well you can see the holes there. We had lineman booking trips to the Caribbean, Mexico, etc. taking a week off and coming back to have to use up two weeks of sick leave that they had years worth stored up. Then trips had to be approved by a director including just leaving the state. Something happened their legally where I don't think they have much ground to stand on and it disappeared. Now our personal is again separate from work once again. Long story short hope the same outcome goes your way in the future.

Clever indeed. Except for the part about where he will be seen sitting

For purely selfish reasons, I am very glad they are not having "the Nationals" especially the 60th running. It wouldn't be the same without all the people. I hope next year it comes back bigger than ever.

Agreed. That's why my group rolled our tix over to next year. We're all first timers and want the full Natonals experience. Not saying 3 days of winged sprints at the best dirt track on the planet wouldn't be sick, but I have a feeling next year will be one helluva fiesta. Fingers crossed.

My company had the same type of policy as well as those of us that could work from home could but the ones on the line needed to use time for quaranine as well. They did change it to where at least they could use sick time for quarantine instead of vacation since one rolls over and the other does not. Not the perfect system that still had holes in it but at least they didn't have to burn through vacation. Those of us in the office started a program to donate some of our vacation time as well to the line workers just in-case some did not have enough time so they could at least have a vacation in some form. I donated a week of time as I get 3wks and maybe use up 2wks every year. Luckily they have been a flexible and reasonible with them in some aspects but I have friends who work for big companies whose policy is basically, oh well that's the way it is. Unfortunately the bank needs that mortgage & car payment along with all of the utility companies so some people are kind of stuck having to deal with it.

Here's something to chew on. When do we get to see Michael"Buddy" Koifoid run a 410 at Knoxville! This is such a farce he isn't there running, because i will tell you he is a top 10 driver IMO and in most who have witnessed his driving ability. Back to the other crap that everyone whines about(covid-19 bullshit)!
Where's my beer or scotch on the rocks? God-damn it! 40
plus years of dirt track racing in these old veins might
get me condemned by the EPA.

This isn't meant as a slam of your job situation or your decision but I just had to say that I haven't heard about jobs restricting their employees from going places on vacation. I'm not trying to throw fuel on the mask vs no mask freedom debate but it appears to me than some have bigger freedom issues with their jobs than any mask could ever cause. I'm retired and hadn't heard that but I wouldn't be surprised if my former employer, a railroad office job, isn't enforcing something similar.
