Mask situation is like this in Pa if you go into a store in Harrisburg or Hershey almost all people are wearing masks and quiite a few places require you to wear mask like Costco for example. If you live like Strausser who I am guessing in the area of Cocolamus or thereabouts the rural areas most arent wearing masks. I live in a small town and i wear a mask when i go into a store but its like 50/50 maybe 60/40 of people who wear masks.

Thanks!

"It couldn't have to do with testing" - this is mentallity that is causing this to drag on unlike other sophisticated countries in the world who have handled this. Also example of what happens when you listen to cult of Trump. Its shocking that people actually repeat this. Please think for yourself, this is just ignorant. The more testing and tracing the faster it can be controled/reduced and life can get back to semi normal without a vaccine.

Good point... we can think all we want but none of us are trained epidemiologists

A whole lot of syllables in that last word rev, hang on to a railing and don't get light headed. just kidding.
Things are wierd here in PA (around the Lincolm/Grove area). A couple of weeks ago masks were required and not mandatory in the local stores, now masks are required in those same places it was just recommended. I wear a mask when required, if not I do keep my distance from people and I've done that well before the China Virus.

Been to every race since Port reopened and I've seen a total of five masks during those four races. When I'm at my home in Juniata County (where Port Royal is) I see very few masks being worn. When I'm at my home in the Philly suburbs it's 50/50 with people outside and almost 100% with people in businesses.

I guess I could research it myself, thought someone from Pa. might know...

Don't start..... You either have the disease or you don't
Testing lets you know
You want people walking around with COVID infecting others, cause they never got tested?
|
Another stupid comment. For healthy people it is not that fatal. If you have pre-existing conditions then it could be fatal.

You may think for yourself, but it's incredibly clear that it's at a very, very low level.
Testing is way up, which is fantastic - it's a damn shame it took the so-called greatest country in the world several months to get to this point. However, it's up everywhere - so riddle me why places that have maintained mask orders are down 25% in new cases why places that haven't are up 84%?
And what's this magic of being outdoors? If someone with COVID coughs or sneezes outdoors, do they miraculously manage to not spread virus-carrying droplets?
|
Only using common sense what people like you don't. If you don't have a n 95 mask you are not protected at all. Hate to disappoint you. If you are outside you need to breathe the fresh air. Instead of your exhaled air.
True story...one guy at work always wore a mask. Guess who the only one that got sick? You guessed it him..,no he didn't have the Covid19. He only had a fever.

It's killed 125K people in a few months in the US alone. If that pace speeds up, it could easily be up there with heart disease and cancer as leading causes of death in the US.
Not to mention the indirect consequences everywhere else. Texas Medical Center in Houston is the largest medical complex in the world and yesterday hit 100% capacity in its ICU, with a quarter of that being COVID patients. They have implemented surge tactics to add additional beds, but that unfortunately is going to consume additional resources and medical personnel from other areas, which will most definitely lead to a drop in quality of care in those areas.
Honestly, at this point given your cavalier attitude, I personally am eager to watch you squeal and moan when things dramatically slow down because people like you fail to follow some simple goddamn guidelines to protect the country as a whole. Patriot? Nah. You're a dipshit.

There are ways to protect the older generation. This is where it is most fatal. Look at the age groups that have been most affected 70 and above are much higher in death rate. Most of the deaths are from 50 and above. Yes, I am in that group, however I will NOT live my life in fear. Just because some government official days I should. Masks are not and have never been required in PA....they were only a suggestion by poor leadership in this state. Always go to name calling when you're losing.

How many times do we have to explain this to you?
The masks are to protect OTHER PEOPLE
If you have the disease & come in contact with a vulnerable person, you could kill them
Big brave freedom fighter aren't you?

AMEN!
Please stop all this bickering and get back to talk about racing. I love sprint car racing because it helps me forget about all the other B.S. going on around me.
We all have opinions about the stuff going on now please keep them to yourself and lets get back to racing.

LInk to the Johns-Hopkins data.
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/
There's only one graph that I look at each day on that linked page. It's the Daily Deaths. In my mind it's the only objective data we have to go on. When you hear about "increases" in cases that's relative to the number being tested. Most news outlets aren't sharing that number. If we were talking about a percent of randomly selected people being tested we might have some data worth discussion, but for now we're dealing with several forms of statistical bias. Who is volunteering to be tested? And what motivation exists for them that may not have a couple of months ago? Again, bias data. However, the death count isn't so subjective. You can make arguments about who is or isn't being counted as an official Covid death, but unless you subscribe to a nationwide conspiracy amongst doctors it's the best we have.
Conclusion: The deaths are steadily dropping. Will we see an increase in death count in a week? If so, it would seem there was a legitimate increase in the number of true cases (whether tested or not). We'll see. This is the discussion I would be having each day if I were the president. I think the president has tried to take the conversation in this direction, but he's done a poor job if it.
EDIT: Final note. The sinusoidal nature of that deaths graph is due to some states not reporting deaths over the weekends. They get lumped into Tuesday and Wednesday each week causing what looks like a dampened sine curve. It's best to click on the button for the 7-day average so you're comparing each day to the one 7 days previous.

Asshole millenials?
Calling them assholes seems to indicate it's their fault. If you want to point fingers you ought to be pointing it at their parents. Blaming children for who they become or the state of society in general is lame. They're children. They don't control anything. They are a product of the society their parents created for them. When they're children they don't get to vote. They don't have jobs. They control nothing.
So, who are really the assholes?
