"great show" , "heats were all good", "was a non-time trial show"
hmmmm....interesting.....worth digging out the old snowmobile suit for and driving 500 miles if that's what they do on 11-16
|
Sure since it pays 10k it will prob be time trial show, The race i told you about was a draw race, which didn't put all fast guys in front for heats. It made for good day of racing.

Yeah, you're right - I'd bet 10K that it will be a time trial show.
With the caveat that a 'put all the fast guys in the front' race beats a good day at work, any day, I'm thinking that three weeks ago is probably going to be a better day of racing.
Is it fair to the fast cars to draw a pill? - nope, but it sure is nice to see some passing.

The only thing that made the last race tolerable was the double file restarts. If not for those restarts it would have been like any other follow the leader stuff that is the norm these days.

With the way our weather is trending, I'd say dressing warm is a good idea. It may end up being too cold to even race which is a definite risk you take scheduling a race in mid November. The open wheel madness marathon at Port last month was a good training exercise. The race was scheduled to start at 4:00 pm. They were late getting started & it was all downhill from there. I have roughly an hour drive home & I pulled in my driveway at 11:20 pm. If we can make it through that, we can make it through anything lol.

If my aunt had a penis, she'd be my uncle. It's 2019 so you never know......it could happen. Either way, it was a good race. Hope we see more of the same a couple weekends from now to close the 2019 season out on a high note.

It's only lunch time, but I believe we have a winner for laugh of the day.

Double file restarts are a freakin' joke if you ask me. I hate them. Just a gimmick the outlaws started doing to make the racing appear better to casual fans without a clue, not to mention causing more cautions. What they really do is screw drivers over who set up their car to race and pass under green flag conditions and reward guys who are good at restarts. To me that sucks. You should have to pass the car in front of you, not get a better jump. Look at the WG National Open. If the caution had not come out and negated that last restart, Marks would have been screwed out of 65K after working to pass his way to the front under green flag conditions. They are bullshit and I wish everyone would get rid of them.

If you mean 500 mile round trip and there is low percent chance of snow,it will be a gamble worth taking,You might get a little dirty(it is aDirt track) or cold(it is nearly winter).Susky (Sorry BAPS) was always one of my favorite tracks to race or witness a race. I have seen races that the car entering the last corner running third, leading when checkered flag waved.Cars might be running on the extreme bottom at the same time cars are bouncing off wall on top. There is no gaurantee it will be that good, but it is 100 percent sure that if you like racing,it will be your last chance to see it this season...... 100% on the money. I love Susky because it doesn't matter if the track is wet or dry, it's always good racing. I think the size, layout & banking combination just creates good racing. Hell I've even seen a couple good races when the track took rubber around the bottom and that doesn't happen often at all. Thanks for posting here Van. Jackasses like myself could benefit from the insight that a legend like you can provide.

I wonder why they wouldn't have scheduled this race this past weekend? I don't think any track raced. Mid Nov. is always very iffy as a far as weather.
|
You've gotta get creative when you are a racetrack in Central PA that isn't Port Royal, Lincoln, or Williams Grove. The provious track owners started having these November races about 10 years ago. They called it "The Final Showdown" and promoted it as the last sprint car race in the country during the year. There were some great Showdowns. Last year they had it in October and it lacked the excitement (and Outlaws) the other showdowns had. In 2016 and 2017 Shark racing versus 69K was the show with Jacob winning in 2016 and Lance beating Logan in 2017. I expect Shark racing will be there next weekend. It should be easy money for them unless Dietrich shows up.
Historically the weather has been pretty good for the November shows. But it looks like it will be a little chilly Saturday.

I was very young but I remember us going to a Thanksgiving day race at Lincoln in the early 90's & Susquehanna had at least one when Lincoln stopped. I think Cris Eash won damn near every one of them.

Who's ready for the Sprint Snowdown ? They changed the start time to 2:00. Grandstands open at 12:00. Shark racing will be there. It is a rare opportunity to see some Outlaws at a non Outlaw track.

Count me in. Can't wait to do it one more time before we say goodbye to 2019. Looks like we'll have a great field on hand. Good field, awesome race track...definitely worth freezing the nads off for a few hours.

Should be interesting if they can pull this off. If not I hope they call it in decent time. No big deal for me but as noted in prior posts others may be traveling. I live 10 minutes from Baps and the high is to be high 30s 40 tops. Only a few degrees better on Sunday. I can see Ski Roundtop from my house and they have been making snow the past few nights with opening day Sat. My only concerns are if the new clay they put on in the last few weeks has had the chance to knit in and if these freezing temps each night are going to present any issues with the track as well.

Fix it man, Van is very approachable and if he has the time you will not spend a better half hour ever if you have that conversation with him. When you ask him questions be prepared for a few coming your way, he likes to get other sprint car fans opinions, enjoy...
