I thought the "Dirt Classic" was a "national" event....they have sevral qualifiers that lock in winners, if I am not mistaken. Wayne Johnson or McCarl comes to mind as folks who locked in before. Correct me if I am wrong....

You would be corre3ct. However, when the big event is held in Pa, suddenyl it loses it's "National" luster

And I agree. In terms of the Dirt Classic, it's def. a new thing. However, they are currently billing and marketing it as part of the "Triple Crown" in Central Pa and he is the only one to have won all those events multiple times. Whether its as big of a race as billed is irrelevent though as Stevie is as deserving as anybody to have spent major time in the state of PA and in comparison to most the Posse drivers, Stevie might have had the most success of anybody ever after leaving the state and traveling

No doubt and they are doing big things with turning the Dirt Classic into a prestiguous and unique series of event(s). Regardless as we both agree Stevie's resume is absolutely top notch nationally, regionally, etc. and I'd agree Stevie may have the most success of anybody running Central PA and nationally. Good stuff Jay!

Stevie easily has the best resume for a PA Posse guy who became an Outlaw and traveled for as long as he did. He did lead the Outlaws in wins in 1998 (first full year of the Ingersoll-Rand 19). As for the best career of a PA driver, that's up for debate, but nationally, I think he's #1!
Who knows how many wins Stevie would have if he stayed around PA his whole career - probably more than 300. May have more Tuscarora 50 wins if not for running an Outlaw schedule for around 15 years. But then again, he wouldn't have the National resume he does if he ran locally his whole career.
As mentioned in an article in Flat Out magazine a couple of months ago, Stevie should have been elected for the Hall this year.
I'm confident he will be in real soon just like he belongs.

It seems that just like baseball HOF, first year induction is a special honor for Superstars
Stevie will get in, probably next year

Stevie Smith, not even close in my humble opinion. A dominant regional racer or a nationally-traveling super successful racer.
Lawlessness + liberalism = HELL - NYC, Detroit, Chicago,
Seattle, LA Who the H runs those cities.

Duh! How many other professional sports have competitors still getting the job done at age 50 plus? If they are SCHoF worthy I say it's great to put them in while still competeing.

A lot of this thread seems like people are arguing just to argue. The weather must be as bad in their neck of the woods as it is mine. It seems like it rains every day, and that's enough to piss anybody off after awhile.
That being said, I have no clue what your post means. The second sentence does nothing to help me either. Perhaps I'm just really stupid today.

I think we could all agree that sprint car racing is not like most other professional sports. The balls required are a lot different.
