Nope.....not about that. And as far as it being a loser, that's sometimes the risk of doing business. It's more of a loser if the show is cancelled in advance actually, not part way in. If a show gets cancelled at the end of the heats because of weather, they already have a good portion of the concessions sold, and then they keep the fans ticket money, too? I could maybe understand if the drivers are paid a split on the entire purse, but that's the only way I could justify it. Otherwise it is a large windfall for those putting it on. As far as the deal last night in WI and the All Star/IRA show, how was the purse paid out? Just curious.

Anytime you pay money for anything you're taking a risk.  Such as buying a new cell phone for $1,000 and 3 days after the warranty is up the phone breaks.  Or buying a new vehicle and having it blow up right after the warranty expires.  Or go to a NASCAR race that is rained out just over half way through.  Or buy anything that doesn't do what you thought it would do.

I hate it anytime rain is involved with a race.  Usually it's not too comfortable, maybe even cold.  The racing is usually not as good.  And you are going to be waiting for a while if they get the race in.  So if I see a chance of rain I won't even waste my time going.  Do I miss some good races?  Yes, but I don't have wasted gas and all the other bs that goes with a rainout.

I guess I don't think race track promoters are making a ton of money as there are more tracks closing than opening these days.  I have to think that during a rainout the track isn't making a bunch of money since the crowds will probably lighter than normal, they won't have a full night of concessions, all the help is probably paid out for a full night and other things like track rent and insurance is probably fully charged whether or not they run the features or not.  I have no idea on the purse being paid out but since I'm just a fan it doesn't affect me one way or the other, I've never asked (or cared for that matter).  I guess I'm curious, what you're upset about, not getting a refund when you didn't see the whole show or that the track might pocket the purse money?  Like I said being just a fan, whatever happens to the purse doesn't affect me, so I really don't care.  But I don't like missing features either.  Unfortunately it's a risk of having an outdoor event.  A risk for everyone

I used to get angry when a track would cancel "early" but my opinion has changed a bit. Granted, some of Williams Grove's bogus cancellations a few years back were way over the top but at the same time, I totally understand where a promoter is coming from who pulls the plug early when the forecast is bad and it looks like a near certainty that rain will end up affecting the event. One thing a lot of people don't realize, is with the advent of smart phones, we can have access to better and more accurate weather predicting technology than what they had they had at the National Weather Service back in the 80's. People as a whole have become much more aware of the weather and they have access to technology that helps them to make a far more educated decision than what they used to have. Back then so therefore, far less people are willing to travel to a race and risk the time and expense involved if they see that there's a 75% chance of rain.

I use to go with my parents to a lot of WoO races all over the midwest when I was 10 to 16 years old and I and my pop remember that a rule, unwritten or written back then was that the feature would have to be 50% completed or the show would be ran completely over or the feature would be ran sometime later, possibly the next day if possible.  Don't think that rule exists now if it was ever a rule.

Regarding the Plymouth Allstar / IRA event. Full purses and sanctions were paid to everyone, 360 support class too. 47 410's qualified, 5 410 heat races, 4 360 heat races, 2 410 dashes, 410 C, and 410 B were completed. For both 410 sanctions, contracts state that once A-main field is set, it's a show. This was the only co-sanctioned event scheduled for 2018 at this facility, so no make up feature possible. Thanks to all for the tremendous support of this event. Just wanted to clarify.....

I know that at Attica once the heats are completed it is a full show. Couple times last year or in the last few years I remember there being make up features.

I also remember one year the last race was an all star show. They got the all star race in but then it rained before the late models could finish and they split that purse amongst the field.

It is a bummer for the fans but if no possible make up date then they had no choice.

Last year the all stars ran a make up race at mansfield. So it is not like they did not try.

Thanks, all. The only thing I was stumbling with was "what happens with the purse if there is no make up date"? Knowing that the purse is paid out evenly is cool. I just never asked anybody that question before. I know a situation last year regarding a DV PPV was handled correctly. The Feature was rained out, but was scheduled to be made up at a later date during a second WoO date at the same track. Those of us who paid up for the first show had a free viewing for the make up, which was run directly ahead of the start of the second show. Those who did not buy the first broadcast could purchase the make up A Main for $10.00 I believe. Then it was busness as usual to purchase the second show date PPV which followed the make up A Main.

I wasnt there but if the FEATURE WAS NOT RUN I feel they should have made every possible attempt to reschedule if there is an open date and both series are close. The main reason for going is to see the Feature so it should be run if any way possible.

I remember a few years back Port Royal had so many makeup Features they ran them all on one night and had free admission.

Yeah I remember that. It was great decision by the track IMO. I think they combined with fan appreciation night and the place was packed SRO.

I can understand a track calling it a show and paying out the purse when that happens with a travelling series. You can't expect them to just take it on the chin or else that track won't stay in business very long. It's just a bad situation for fans, track and the teams and that's really about the only thing you can do, unless a m/u feature is possible at a later date. One thing that irks the hell out of me though is when you know there is a likelihood of rain later but the track/sanction make no effort to speed up the show to get the feature in. IMO the first thing you should do is scrap any unnecessary time wasters like time trials and dashes. Just draw and race! Of course sanctioning groups don't like to do that. Another thing they can do is move up start time. I have seen that done a few times.

That's exactly what I was wondering.  Is that still the case?  Example, a feature race is rained out in June at a track but they will be back there in September and will make up the feature then.  Will the people who paid for the month of June get to see that if they have not paid for September?  It sounds like in this case it was, which I think is only fair, is that still the case?

Hard to say. Last year of course was PPV as each event happened, not on a monthly subscription basis like this year.
