There shouldn't even be a thread on this board about Danica or Daytona. Both of em suck. Danica is beat.

I don't like operas. It's a stuffy crowd dressed to the hilt and the high pitched singing really hurts my ears. Some of the singers got opportunities that I think other better singers should have got.
I don't post about it on Sprint Car forums because it's not relevant.

I don't opera either, but I do like to listen to classical music on the radio driving home from a race... calming effect after all that noise & craziness, makes it less stressful trying to get out of parking lot...
I wonder if I'm the only one?

I'm still in a Heading down the Highway by the Doobies kind of mood when I leave.

Oh, I'm sure there are others. Me, I like to listen to Danica interviews on the way home from the track cranked loud with all of my windows down.

I quit watching NASCAR the year she started racing in CUP. Could not stand the constant use of the "future star" and words to that effect over and over and over week after week and finally turned it off. I will start watching NASCAR races after Daytona and look forward to it. Oh, yeah, "she retired" from racing. Oh? What the hell else was she going to do. no one wanted her in any from of racing. The equipment she had was the best and yet she finished an average of 16th or 17th. Just in front of the small "no money teams". The filler teams. And then there were the motorsports writers and tv announcers who lauded her with praise over and over. No one told the truth about her talent, not a single writer or tv jock.
No one wants her because there is no one left to sell a Danica t-shirt too. Her fans all have one by now.
Lawlessness + liberalism = HELL - NYC, Detroit, Chicago,
Seattle, LA Who the H runs those cities.

She's dating Aaron Rodgers. I live 11 miles from the western Wisconsin border and my Packer backer/Danica hater friends are blowing a fuse trying to figure out if they should turn on Rodgers or start liking Danica.
But seriously, I have three daughters, 43, 41 and 33 and I raised them to believe they could do anything they set their mind to and work for. I'd be a hypocrite to dislike Danica for doing what I raised them to believe. Danica made her way into a male dominated field, she was successful at marketing herself and has carved out a niche for herself after racing in fitness and nutrition. Book deals, television appearances, a first ballot HOF boyfriend. She'll be fine and has a bright future. What's not to admire?
As far as the hype around her coming to NASCAR that wasn't her up in the booth creating those expectations, it was the talking heads in the booth. The NASCAR establishment hoped she would succeed in order to attract more women to the sport. Same deal as when JPM came to NASCAR and they hoped it would increase interest south of the border and among Spanish speaking people. It was all about money and marketing but Danica didn't start that.
I have a hard time understanding why Sprint Car fans dislike a woman who came from an open wheel background and helped out selling t-shirts at Knoxville. I appreciate her career and wish her well. I don't think she would give a damn what anybody thinks about her on this board. I'm sure she has dealt with that kind of negativity throughout her career and has leaned not to take it personally.

Fair question on why people dislike her. I think you're right on the hype not coming from her. And I do think it would be cool to see a successful woman in racing somewhere. For me some reasons I don't like her (and I did not see this myself) goes back to when she was racing indy cars and gets mad at someone and gets out and starts shoving him. The other guys response was "What am I supposed to do? I can stand there and get beat up or hit a woman." Last spring well everyone being interviewed was worried about a driver getting cut out of his car all she can do is talk about how bad her luck is. She didn't seem to even care that someone was possibly seriously hurt there. It's no secret she has not had a very successful NASCAR career, but in all the interviews I've heard, I have never heard her take any responsibility for anything that happens. It's either somebody did her wrong or it was just bad luck.
It also annoys me how she raced in NASCAR for 5 or 6 years with virtually no success or even showing improvement. But she had a sponsor and her name so she kept her ride. She wasn't there because of her talent but because of her name.

She did a good job and stayed with the lead group all day until she was a caught in one of the many blocking wrecks that took out over 1/2 of the field.Had she missed that one she would have probably been in top ten.Got as much exposure[with Go Daddy ads] as any and even though many dont give her the credit she deserves she paved the way for women in a male dominated sport.Bubba did a lot for people of color also and handled the pressure well.

One of the few things that made NASCAR slightly watchable.
Thanx,

You're not being fair, though. During her NASCAR Cup career, 191 races, 0 wins, an average starting position of 25.0 and an average finishing position of 24.1. A certain rather popular male driver (name withheld) had a career of 473 races, 0 wins with an average starting spot of 28.0, and an average finishing spot of 28.25. Quite a long career with similar, but worse stats. Generally speaking, I'm not so sure half of the NASCAR field year in and year out is there because of talent.

I think it was Richard Petty who said she wouldn't win a race or do well..

To your last statement: Kind of like Junior don't ya think? EXACTLY why Junior hung around as long as he did. Sure he won some races, but for the most part, he was also a field filler with the absolute BEST equipment.
As to another of your 'points' How often does cry baby Busch (take your pick on either one) take responsibility? Hamlin? Boyer? Logono? For that matter, 75% of these guys take none, it's always someone else.

You are not being fair either. One had the best equipment for her whole career. The other driver was a journeyman who even had to start and park at times. Why did he last so long? He didn't bring big-money sponsors. He wasnt heavily marketed. He didn't win races. Very simple answer. Respect. He had the respect of his peers in the garage. It was a respect that was earned. Like or hate Danica she never earned that respect. She did nothing on the track to keep the ride for as long as she did. It was the sponsorhip dollars that kept her in that seat. She never won a Nascar race of any kind whether it be Cup Xfinity or Trucks. The other driver you used as a comparison did. If he would have had the equipment Danica had his whole career I believe he would have found victory lane in the Cup cars. His kid is also a star and winning in Nascar right now. That may have never happened without his dads connections and the respect he earned in the Nascar garage. Comparing Danica to the Buckeye Bullet in laughable at best in my opinion.
