You do.  I asked Mr. Utah if Johnny could go to the races with me.  He said no.  "He is training for the big leagues."  Smile

Hahaha. Pops Utah, what a bastard.

It looks as if my seats are remaining the same for next year. We sat in seats 1 and 2 in our row.

Im not only talking the campground at the fairgrounds. Im also talking the north campground which the county owns as well. either way, im done arguing over anything. just thought i would let anyone know so they arent so surprised when they try to renew their camping for next year.

Hmmm....gave you the benefit of the doubt.  Now I'm calling you out.  Why doesn't someone have the right to ask the going rate for their product?    (for the record, you were not just making people aware----you were complaining)

I live in SD. Also those sport are big market sports that have a very large following. Look at those crowds and tell me how many kids are in attendance. Sprint car racing on the other hand relies on the younger generation to keep the sport alive and i think that we are struggling a bit in that aspect. I get that there are plenty of people who were abusing the kids tickets and just using them to have more room but I also feel that those tickets were also used by many in the way that they were intended, for kids. Its very expensive for a family or 4 to goto nationals all 4 days. $730 just for tickets to be exact. Now they are going to raise camping prices as well. Keep making it more expensive and it will not take much before families decide to just go somewhere less expensive.

First of all from a local, who I consider Knoxville my hometrack, thank you for making the trek from SD.

If you go to the races weekly then you would probably notice for the past couple of years there were tons of kids in the stands, especially the younger ones. If you need proof then stay in the stands instead of going for a bite to eat when the tee shirt cannon comes out. There were a few nights this year, where I could not believe the # of kids I saw when walking in. The kids under 12? free for the regular shows, are a must to keep the sport growing, and considered and investment, I'm sure.

Prices go up for everything, literally. Racing is no different. I honestly consider the prices of tickets for the Nationals and weekly racing a steal. I was thinking there are a few outlaw shows that were very close to Nationals tickest, but only half the cars.

I understand it's expensive, but there is no where else in the world you can see a race like the Knoxville Nationals. Name 2 more tracks in the world that run 3 classes of only sprints, heck name 1. For a family of 4, I'm sure it adds up for 4 nights, but again, this is the biggest sprint car race in the world, period. If you take one person, one night then your avg is $45.50, probably not too bad. With the level of competition, and quality of cars each night.... If you can afford a camper then you know in the long run it saves, money rather than putting 4 people in a hotel for 4 nights, plus you're probably not driving too far from your destination.

IMO you either raise the prices yearly or do it every 3-5 years. I know it sucks when prices go up, but keep in mind how much money is invested back into the track, that many take for granted...the nice seats, nice concessions, concrete everywhere, the track itself, the lighting, the jumbtron, nice purse, nice sound system, clean facilities, etc.

Iowa doesnt' have a professional sports teams,  but they do have minor league and ISU and IOWA. Check out their ticket prices. I love my college sports but if you're like me I'd rather go to a sprint car race any day over a college football, NBA, MLB, NFL, and spend my money watching the most badass cars on the planet, race on dirt.

The price pisses me off because Schatz keeps taking my money home. I have bought him some nice stuff thru the years.

Well said.  I also think it is a fantasic deal.  If it were $60 per night and camping was double...........I would still go!  (and I'm talking about right now---I know it will get there someday soon)

From u of Iowa football website. 2017 football tickets were $45 each for non conference games

$60, $80 or $95 each for Big 10 games depending on opponent. Really!  $95 to watch Iowa play Ohio State at Kinnick stadium. No way.

Child tickets were also available for $25 each. Did not see what the age limit was on kids tickets.

So, yes, I consider Knoxville Nationals tickets a bargain and I pay for a friend and her 2 kids tickets also!
